my child has a friend who was bullied last school year. the child was so relieved to be in a section this year na isa lang ang bully sa classroom nila (that bully is part of the bully group) at napaiyak pa siya of relief. kawawa talaga. thank God my kids aren't in this situation..

Given na ba sa big schools ngayon na may bullies talaga at pag isa na lang ang bully sa isang class that's a relief? Honest question lang po (didn't really encounter bullies in elementary or high school back then).

As parents, when you scout for schools, do you ask about the school's policy regarding bullying?

^Sis, in reality, there will always be bullies kahit saan man sa mundo.
I was bullied in the 6th grade during bus service. I couldn't wait for us to get to school or home. I had no one to run to. My dad wasn't around and my mom was in and out of the hospital.

I have educated my kids since the day they could understand about bullying and how to go about it. They know how to stand up for themselves and how to deal with bullies. It's very important to keep your lines open with your kids especially as they get older.

CSA has an anti-bully campaign.
I didn't inquire anymore about it as this campaign is all around the campus. The bullied child is free to approach any teacher or go to the guidance center if bullied.
From what I know, these are grounds for expulsion.

sa small school ako nag aral nung elementary and high school ako, and grabe ang bullying samin.

Thanks Dv. CTO, from the link.

"the boy was interviewed at abs-cbn’s TV Patrol, his name is Jaime (jay-mee) Gonzales. the information posted here are mostly the same to what he  revealed in the TV interview.

in the tv interview, jaime said bantilles slapped him, cursed him then got a bag from a bodyguard, looked inside and took out a gun. gun was pointed to his face and bantilles said “i can kill you right now”.

why didn’t the teachers who were witnessing the incident  stop bantilles from slapping, hurting and verbally abusing the high school boy?

why did bandilles, an adult and also a father of a teen-age boy think what he did to jaime was right and justified? does he treat his son that way?"

Kasi nasa harap ng mga teachers so I guess pinatawag yun bata, e bakit napunta yun tatay nung kaklase dun?

No statement until now. They will release one when DepEd is done with the investigation. What I find weird is that August 30 pa pala yung incident. Dapat resolved na by now, and the school should've been ready with a statement na.

Actually, puwede rin i-sue ng parents ng na-bully na bata ang school if there is evidence that the school was negligent in enforcing security at hinayaan makapasok ang may baril.

At the very least, naiisip ko civil action for moral damages.

^it's really sad to hear of this, sis. MY kids go to CSA.
I really hope they get this man/parent to teach him a lesson.

I have yet to sit down with my kids. Will do it as soon as they get home today. No wonder CSA came out with a security update.

Kelan pa nagpalabas ng security update and CSA?

Hahaha!)

^october pa :p

Heard from the news earlier that CSA already forwarded today to DECS their incident report. Parang ang tagal huh if the incident happened last August 30. Parang tuloy lumalabas they were pressured to do something after Jamie's party exposed this to media

the school was not able to handle the situation well. it was sad that the boy who was bullied was even suspended. i hope he will be able to recover form the trauma he experienced. as for the father of the boy who was bullying, grabe talaga ginawa niya! as a parent, kung anak ko ang involved sa bullying, ako pa mismo ang gagawa ng action to stop him from doing it, explain to him the consequence of his wrong doing, di yung kakampihan ko pa and worse, tutukan ng gun ang na bully.

bullying cannot really be avoided. sa school ng anak ko, they always remind the kids that bullying is big no no. they implement steps to avoid it, even at break times, teachers are watching the students to make sure that no untoward incident like this will happen. they are also instilling christian values to their students as a way of helping them to be good persons. as parents, we should also do our role to remind our kids not to bully. most importantly, we should lead a good example to our kids.

There is something to investigate,  namely, how did that father even got inside the school premises?  The security people of the school had a lapse there.

Bullying is a separate problem from the father hurting and poking a gun at a student.  The school can discipline the students but the gun-toting dad who slapped and threatened to kill a student should be charged criminally.

I was shocked to read the news about the gun thing.

I'm scared for my daughter for when she goes to school. When I was a kid, I was kind of a bully mainly because I was so spoiled and used to getting my way. But I had to learn my lessons the hard way and I pray na maituro ko ng maayos sa anak ko. Naisip ko din na I should also teach my daughter to protect herself, never initiate but gumanti pag sinaktan sya.
