I'll start my yoga na tomorrow! 1st session palang and Basic Yoga lang sa Surya Fitness. 5F ng medicard building. I'm doing this for meditation, breathing, and para macorrect ang posture ko. Sana di ako pumayat dahil wala na akong ipapayat pa. haha.

I got started on yoga when I bought a Dealgrocer voucher for a 15-day pass at Urban Ashram (pero one day lang nagamit ko dun!). Money is a little tight right now so I opted to continue yoga at home and get used to the poses before going back to a studio. I downloaded a bunch of yoga videos, from Rodney Yee, to Jillian Michaels, and even the Biggest Loser Weight Loss yoga video. Kaka-start ko pa lang kahapon, hopefully matuloy ko. Hehe.

In terms of yoga studios, how would you guys compare Urban Ashram and Beyond Yoga at the Fort? Which offer better classes for beginners?

i'm trying yoga na apps sa ipod. sobrang natuwa lang din ako na pinagpapawisan ako. ang worry ko lang kung tama ba yung pagkasunod ko sa poses.

ako din! downloaded Daily Yoga app on my phone , puro beginners routines palang tinatry ko because when i attempted the ones for my back, some of them are so hard, it made my back ache. haha so inaaral ko pa yung proper breathing and proper way of executing it.
ok na to after my cardio workout :P

^^haha! naalala ko, nung first time ko na-try ang sakit ng katawan ko after and yung ibang pose, hindi ko pa matapos nang 20 counts or pinagpapawisan talaga ako bago matapos. yes, yung iba mukhang kaya pero ang hirap pala sa totoo kaya pinapalitan ko ng kaya ko.

^^ Yoga can help you shed the pounds. It can actually make you limber but you have to do it consistently and make sure you always aim fopr a notch greater than previous level of flexibility. Always challenge yourself for you to not tire from enriching your practice.

Recently signed up for Ananda Marga's 3 month unlimited program (QC branch). Yesterday was only my second session pero wow, I'm hooked! Instructors there are very helpful and encouraging to yoga noobs like me. I especially liked yesterday's session with Arun. Intense!

This is a no-frills yoga center meaning walang matinong shower area or changing room. But that's not a biggie for me.

One question though: Do you guys still practice yoga/asanas when you have your period? Conflicting kasi ang opinions on this. How about you guys, your take?

^^ sis, are there a lot of attendees at Ananda Marga? What time do you attend?

Actually, you can still practice yoga even when the "red tide's" up. There are certain asanas though that you're restricted from doing like inversions, mostly. I find it best to practice Yoga (Vinyasa) prior to the onset of menses. It prevents inconveniences associated with the monthly period like cramps, headaches etc from occurring.

^Yep, there's a pretty good bunch of attendees. My first session was on a Monday night and was quite surprised to see that the entire room was full of students (about 15-20). Last Friday night's session had a smaller number though. 9 lang kami but the instructor said there are a couple of regulars who weren't present then.

Thanks purplewanderer and OD for sharing your take on my question re: period. Good to know that I can still do yoga on those days. Nakakaadik pala. Hihi.

i've always been fascinated by yoga. my past and present trainors all said i'm very flexible. pero may catch. wala akong balanse  :'( and mahina ang core ko. siguro kung may beginners, ako yung a notch lower than them. nakakalungkot.
