May I know who your teacher was when you tried ashtanga?

Yes yes Im well aware of the ashtanga at Bliss. Doesn't she have a website? I think she's just teaching a vinyasa type of yoga (beginner type)

Do you know any yoga class in Katipunan / Libis / Marikina area?  Preferably early morning around 6:30am?

nakaka relate naman ako. :D nung first time ko sa bikram yoga, makati branch 1 week ako nag try kasi may promo voucher [textspeak!] atang day na hindi ako na correct. :/ one point pa nga the instructor (joyce) asked my name then saying the right position na ganito ganun. :D tapos she corrected my pose pa i think thrice. ewan ko ba kung bakit ganun nahirapan ako mag follow ng poses (instructed by the yoga instructor) at the same time ginagaya ko yung veterans sa harapan ko tapos conscious na concious ako kung tama yung pose ko. Pero I missed them much. Hope to try it again pag sa makati na ko work. :D The best yung heated room kay Joyce kasi talagang nag sweat ako at dahil nasa ilalim ako nung heated fan. hehe :D

I think there is a store especially for doing yoga people in Shang-rila and in bikram yoga makati they were selling different outfits. But I think if you are in a budget and not so shy to show skin, a two piece can do. :) Eh kasi that's what I've seen when I tried the BY. :) envy naman ako sa body at mga super mag sweat agad agad kahit nag sstart palang. :D

for those having qualms about being first timers in the class, there is a very significant part during the beginning of the class where attendees will be directed and asked to set forth their intentions for that particular yoga practice.

Take that message to heart and do align your primary intentions of showing up to the class coz in that way you get to frame your mind on how you are to mobilize muscles and senses in a way that you just concentrate on the teacher and how your mind-body coordination corresponds with the instructions. It naturally follows that you become oblivious to how your movements fare with the rest of the bendy yogis/yoginis surrounding you coz you were set to focus on how to work within your level and pace. I am impressed with teachers who constantly remind their students of the idea that Yoga is not the avenue for competition, rather self-discovery as you get to find out more about your body and its capabilities, its temporary boundaries. The only way you compete is when you get to confront and redefine your body's limits whenever you execute the harder postures. You "compete" and outdo only yourself and no one else. At least, that is how I understood it upon learning from a number of well-meaning teachers. Besides, you showed up and paid for the class not to feel overwhelmed at how advanced others are and underwhelmed by how meager your flexibility is and the same goes for the mat you carry, right? ;)

Hi Pacey, Just want to say that I am a guy...now by saying so..that would mean I was totally ashamed of myself but I did end up practicing. Not because it's a class filled with women but I want to know what this fad is. Why are people doing it....Although only a few people only know what the practice really means, not just asana(postures) of course...
