^ you're welcome :) but in that case, i suppose the Yoga practice there is way better in terms of its breadth and depth given the fact that it originated from INDIA and is deeply rooted in their culture. Dito kasi, ive the impression that it is more fitness-oriented. It only focuses on Asanas, which is just one aspect of Yoga (from amongst the 8limbs). Pero inggit ako dyan sa nabili mo, wala pang 500 yan ha! Tama ba? hehe! Try ko din magpa-bili sa brother ko, pls tell me kung saan mo nakuha.

btw, the yoga teacher from the class that i attend dissuades us from using implements especially if she could see that one's body is capable of sustaining a given pose. Ako nga, mind and body was strongly defiant  during the execution of a variation of the warrior pose and I knew deeply that it was improbable to keep myself steady. Me naka-alalay ng foam block tinanggal pa nya and instructed me to continue pushing myself further but concentrating more on the breathing rather than teh exertion of effort. Nakaya ko naman, but only for a few short breaths. But that;s one notch ahead of myself, di ba?

I went back to attending yoga last Wednesday. Buti na lang nag-attend ako, because I found out I've been doing the poses wrongly! Kaya pala iba feeling kapag sa bahay lang ako nagyoyoga, feel ko parang may mali. Meron pala talaga!

Hopefully I'll continue attending yoga classes. My no. enemy is sleeping early. I always sleep late that's why I'm too tired to wake up early

@iluvescadasport... hey!  it's true nga.  when we use CDs or books lang.  sometimes it feels very different even going in and our of poses are different.  and it is very surprising which muscles are being used when we are in our pose.  sometimes even the slightest twist will make so much difference.  :)

have fun in your practice!!! :)

Nakakawala talaga ng stress yung yoga sis. =) I do yoga every week. Maganda kapag memorize mo na yung routine then you do it while listening to your favorite slow song. =)

^ depends on your location. It's best that you pick a place that's rather close to your office and/or residence so that going there would not cause you to rush to the class. It matters greatly if you get to teh studio at least 15mins before the session starts so that you have ample time to prepare your mind and body prior and youre relatively relaxed even before the actual sesh starts. An unhinged mind makes for better focus and concentrated breathing. Studios always offer beginner classes naman eh. For starters, you can check out this link for a list of studios in the metro

Hey Od...

First thing we need to remember.. "No Fear".  My usual script whenever I teach a headstand is that headstands does not require strenght... no flexiblity required... all i need is a to not have any fear. :)

as for the details...
1.  check your elbows.  once you're up.. make sure not to move it.  shoulders should be far away from the ears.
2.  try not to curve your back too much.  put your bum in. :)
3.  flex your feet. it will make sure that you're using your leg muscles.
... i think that's it.  :)
simply put... a headstand is your SAMASTHITI... BUT INVERTED with your hands at the back of your head. :)

how to master it?  just keep on doing it until you're comfortable doing it.
I hope this helps. :)

sis how much ang fee sa ff rob manila? ok kasi for me ang schedule and location since student ako who stays along taft ave. lang :)

I attended Dynamic Flow at Fitness First yesterday and it was my first time ever to join a yoga class. It felt good after but there were a few poses that I couldnt do just yet. I was amazed that it made me sweat buckets. I;m looking forward to attend another session this week.

^^ Thanks for the priceless tips Ibong :) You're absolutely right. As with all the other difficult asanas, especially for a highly inflexible individual like me, letting go of that inhibitory fear of seriously injuring oneself is the key to traversing one's pre-conceived limits. I never imagined myself to be able to execute a wheel pose, but when I enrolled in a formal class and was given techniques specifically on proper breathing and the correct muscle group to contract to carry out a difficult flexion or extension, I can now hold the wheel pose for about 4-5 deep breaths. Sarap pa ng feeling after coz I get to open up those tight hip and chest regions. Btw, I know it also pays a lot to develop a very strong core in doing a headstand no, coz that's where one draws the strength in lifting the legs up and balancing them. is that right? And oh, are you a part of the team from urban ashram?

^ sis, saan FF branch ka and do they use a heater during the class? How long does a sesh lasts? I might try the one in Fairview, may groupon deal kasi hehe.
