I agree sis Betty whether you like it or not nagagamit ito, kasi transferrable sya.

I think memorial plans are a waste of money and just makes the seller richer. I have a similar list of hierarchy tulad kay @blooming on where money should go - that's also what I'm doing. I also prefer enjoying the money while I'm still alive. hehe.

1) high-interest debts, except housing loan that's payable for more than 10 years
2) emergency fund (I decided not to get an HMO, so I would need to build a bigger emergency fund)
3) life insurance
4) retirement (same level as life insurance)
5) dividend investments that pay in cash
6) stocks and other high yield investments

I have life insurance with cash value (VUL) to cover it. Medyo matagal na rin ang life insurance ko so that cash value could already cover enough for the plans. My relatives could claim rin from SSS, they have burial assistance rin doon. Plus yung PAGIBIG pa, my parents and kid are beneficiaries of these.

Those banks accounts that will be left can also be accessed by my relatives rin through ATM. The PIN numbers are hidden somewhere safe, but can be easily accessed by them. Eventually, as my money

grows I'll be getting a safety deposit box na with those list of ATM pins, para doon na lahat ng important documents.

Pagsama-samahin na lahat - and I think that's more than enough to cover expenses sa memorial plus the loss of income from me for a few years. :-)

I have done this already. I have a safety dep box at doon nakalagay lahat. As in lahat lahat sa aking black folder. Pins, paswords to online accounta, huling habilin, monthly expenses/payables/grocery items, monthly needs ng anak ko, what to do with the money na maiiwan, etc.

So no need napala ako mag ganto?

i also have st. peter memorial plan P 950/mo. ang views ko lang dito, yung mga average earner na tulad ko, it is a necessity na din na kumuha ng memorial plan. may bigla ma'ng mawala sa family, less na yung intindihin ng mga naiwan since may mag-asikaso na from the company. emotionally and financially draining ang mamatayan kaya big help talaga pag may memorial plan. hopefully, mga 30yrs from now ko pa kailanganing magamit st. peter plan ko. ;)

since memorial plans are quite affordable than any other pre need, i guess this one should not be an option..better prepared than sorry later.

also DONT forget that the memorial lot is "separate" form the service, so thats another payable to consider.

as of the moment, i only have a VUL, considering adding another insurance, after that will go for this na.

im so glad there's a thread on this. it's so much better when we get to share our experiences.

im paying for my life insurance now and im really considering getting a memorial plan because none in my family has one.

masakit sa ulo at bulsa talaga pag may namatay in the family. i experienced it first hand when my father died who left nothing to cover for his burial expenses --- mother ko lang talaga lahat nagasikaso financially, hirap mag-grieve properly pag iniintindi ang next steps considering di naman matagal ang burol talaga.

@wrtr_mom same experience here. Walang lot at memorial plan yung tatay ko so out of pocket expenses lahat at pinagamit na lang nun sister ko yung parte nya sa lote with my mom.

Buti na lang, may-kaya ang pamilya namin. kabaong pa lang ang mahal na. pa-cremate na lang kaya ako after the service tapos isama ako kila mom and dad? at least I won't take up much space sa nitso.
