Hi sis,

Yun sa heritage mura lang lots nila. kahit 60 to 80 k meron.

The expensive thing is yun pag service nila, yun pag hukay ng lot mo. super mahal  lagpas 100k yun at di pwede iba contractor kundi sila din.

^through agent din ako nag-inquire. last year date ng quotation niya sa akin. paiba-iba sila ng price depende sa agent? anyway, the only reason why im asking kasi im trying to compute yung appreciation value ng memorial lot (ilang percent ba). thanks.

My mom is an agent nung memorial lot na binilan ko and mabilis daw talaga mag appreciate ang value ng mga memorial lots, so I bought 2 lots, for now thinking of it as an investment kasi mas gusto ko i cre cremate ako pag nadeadbol ako kesa sa ilibing ako ....

I am not familiar sa memorial plans.  Parang napaka morbid kasi.  Pero kasi admittedly, di pa namin naiisip yan. Kelan ba ang right time to plan for it?

If you have cash to cover for this, why buy?  Concerns ko kasi, our mind is not yet made up where we want to retire.  Moreso, kung gusto namin pa cremate or not.  Tapos hindi ba dapat ang pagkagastusan natin now is house muna before anything else?  Tapos by then, I suppose baka iba narin ang mga memorial packages, mausoleums na available.

What are your thoughts on this?

personally, ganito nangyari samin, insurance, house then memorial lot.

why buy? to save on future price increase. if the time comes that you want to be cremated instead, you can sell your lot naman.

mas mahal ammatay kesa manganak as in! now if you have the capacity to pay for it in the future in cash, then i suggest no need to buy it ahead.

eto ba yung internment na tinatawag? baket ganun kamahal? over naman. sa manila memorial cavite it starts at 20k up

personally for me sis blooming, you can think of buying memorial lots as investment din. My sister bought 4 lots nung dalaga pa siya and wala pa masyadong pinagkakagastusan, tapos when she got married , she was able to sell all her lots and nagkaroon na siya pang dagdag down payment sa bahay niya.

I started to invest in them nung kinausap kaming magkakapatid ng  mommy ko na pag namatay daw sila ng papa ko, wala na sila aalahanin kasi kumpleto na sila hanggang sa libingan . Morbid as it may seems pero  maganda na rin na ready ka.  maganda naman kasi sa memorial plans is they are transferable, at least you have that peace of mind na all will be taken care of in times of your grief diba, at wala ka na iba pa iniisip kung saan kukuha ng pera pang lamay at panglibing.

@betty

to answer some of your questions:

kelan ang right time to plan for it:
anytime in your life, kung kelan ka nakakaluwag sa expenses. of course hindi ito ang top priority di ba, syempre andyan yung uunahin mo syempre ang house and lot, etc etc. to the point na settle ka na halos sa lahat ng bagay.

if you have the cash to cover for this, why buy:
syempre naman, kung may limpak limpak na salapi ka or you have enough funds, you won't bother to think about this. pero for some average people na ayaw na rin namang bigyan ng burden ang maiiwan, they'd opt for this option. pinaghahandaan lang naman din, kasi syempre lahat tayo papunta sa ganito. at ang death kasi parang magnanakaw, hindi natin alam kung kelan dadating sa buhay natin di ba.

Tapos hindi ba dapat ang pagkagastusan natin now is house muna before anything else?
tulad nga ng sinabi ko, hindi naman ito priority, this is just an option kung may extra ka pang budget at wala ng pagkakagastusan pa. Most of us kasi ini-ignore or don't even think of this type of investment, then at the end of the day, iiwan ng burden ang mga mahal sa buhay. and most people think this type of investment is "anything else", for some naman hindi.

plan ko din bumili ng lawn lot sa heritage next year. what i intend to do is save for it. i will set aside a fixed amount every month para next year eh mabili ko na sya in cash ;) next project after nun eh interment service naman. mahal din kase yun. yung lapida eh pagkakatanda ko nasa 20k!  :o ang problema ko na lang ay pano i-encourage mga siblings ni hubby to do the same, that is save, para meron din sila at para tabi-tabi na rin yun lots na bibilhin namin :D

there should be some hierarchy of where our money should go, and I think this should be the last.  pero yun nga eh opinion ko lang (for now) and still reading the thread to convince myself that I might be wrong.

1) emergency fund
2) debt
3) education - for the kids
4) house/investments, insurance
5) retirement
6) further investments/business
7) enjoy life :)

As some sis say, this may fall in #6?  Naisip ko lang din kung mangyari man ito to anyone there is always #1 to fall back to and #4 and #5?

for me naman, i think you should get insurance first kase nga di natin alam kelan tayo kukunin ni Lord.
now if you have debts, yun muna unahin bago insurance...then siguro if ok na finances tsaka na yung emergency fund.
how can you afford to have an emergency fund and yet not settle debts right? :)

this will be my last investment option if lahat settle na.

depende rin kasi sa valuing ng tao yan e. ang iba inuuna ang sasakyan sa bahay. kasi social status daw ang simbolo nito. pwede namang magenjoy habang nagtitipid. syempre we all deserve the luxuries of life because it is the  fruit of our labor. but of course, we need not to neglect our future responsibilities, kasi kahit patay na ang responsibilidad andyan pa rin. pwede mo pa ring mapadama kahit kinuha na ni lord that you are still providing money for your family. because, while you were alive, you enjoy it and at the same time kept something for the future of your family.

we're already building up kase our emergency fund thru BPI Direct Save Up with Insurance. so hitting 2 birds with one stone na yun for us. pero may plan pa rin kami to get another life insurance. thinking of VUL.

ok lang naman to save for memorial lot sa case namin kase hindi mo na mararamdaman yun burden kung monthly. parang saving for travel & other projects. ganun kase ginagawa ko. like just this year, one year of saving since last year set aside supposedly for a ref pero ni-prioritize namin yun renovation of the CR sa house. bale ganun uli plan, save for another project next year hopefully new ref na hehe. teka na off-topic na yata ako hehe.
