Marose, thanks for the book recos. Badly need that. :P

Lia, magaabang ako sa book sale dito sana may baby books kasi the last 1 i went to nung preggers pa ako wala :(

Re: BF, medyo napansin ko yan, but deadma-tology nalang. To each his own naman kasi. I'm just glad that i was able to do a lot of reading during my pregnancy & attended antenatal classes rin to equipt myself kasi me, myself & i ang drama ko dito abroad.

Scary thought hehe!

Nesz - ganun ba? Sorry to hear about it kung tama pagkaintindi ko,its his loss hmpt! Girl power!

Mukha talaga syang girl.

Galing a, all from BF

Kim – 5k lang ang initial , tapos 1k minimum additional. Kering keri mga mommies! Kaso bawas sa funds meant for pang low EQ moments hehe

Investing 101- Prulife returns tama ba that is 3 year return? You can compare it here, look for stock funds sa 3 years:  http://www.icap.com.ph/factsfignavps.asp

The highest return is Philequity at 25.14% so parang mababa vs Prulife equity fund at 10.28% ( equivalent to MF stock fund) . One year return highest is 43.62% First Metro. Di ko na naabutan yung topic about VUL.

Yes if you invest in a mutual fund they will choose where to invest your money. Kaya you can ask the different funds ( I suggest get the top 3) kung san nila usually ini invest ang funds or what they call portfolio. Meron sila mga collaterals na ganito. That is why iba iba ang returns ng MF kasi depende yan sa diskarte ng fund manager nila. Tama din that the emergency fund should be at least 6 mos of your expense or at least salary. Kasi ang thinking is what if mawalan ng work  (knock on wood wag naman) then it will take siguro conservatively 6 mos before makahanap ng bago.  Isang suggestion din for investing is not to put everything in one basket.

Now hindi na kasi I have proven na kayak o mag BF since I was the first one in the family to do it. Iniisip ko na lang kasi they are not as informed as I am tsaka siguro nakikita nila ako ng nahihirapan and they want to make it easier for me. Pasalamat talaga ako sa GT dahil most of it dun ko nalaman and like Marose who gives advises sa BF.

Re yaya manual.  I got Smart Parenting's Yaya Manual at NBS for P120.  There is also a Maid Manual and Clean, Organize, Decorate manual by Good Housekeeping for the same price. ;)

Kim, I am really disappointed that most hospital staff and even doctors are not updated on breastfeeding.  My pedia is doing something about it though.  She is going around the Philippines to educate health workers about the DOH's newborn protocol.  Kasama diyan ang latching immediately after birth (barring any complications) and the avoidance of using artificial nipples.

My children were fed at first using a small feeding cup. Kaya, M & M were not bottle-fed until they were almost 4 months old (kapag full-term babies, 2 months technically ang chronological age ng 4 months na preterm at 29 weeks).

Kasama ang first aid, teaching your alaga to be independent, good hygiene practices, etc. sa yaya seminar dati ni kids haus.

Marose, i read your story about your twins sa bf thread and it's super inspirational :) sad lang talaga na hindi well informed ang ibang pedia and ob dyan satin :(

I just wish na there will be more establishments/malls na maglalagay ng breastfeeding room dyan satin..

Jai apir hehe pareho tayo! Yan din dinahilan ko nung pinabili ko mga nursing tops ko from Eden, na naka set na ako magpa bf for a time :)

Jai, teats ata dito $8sgd. Yung Kiddy Palace, store cya ;D wala sa city yung mga branches nya but I think the nearest sa city na branch is yung sa Toa Payoh.

Sam, gulat nga ako ang bilis ko gumaling this time. Normal recovery time ko sa sipon is atleast 2wks or more. Mukhang nakatulong na tumutungga ako ng water & lemon juice w/ apple cider vinegar this time :P

maussie, ah okay. will check them out nga sa gb5. i saw the dome cake sa purple oven! yun na nag muntik ko bilhin but opted for the other one para maiba naman.

nesz, korek! nakakaawa pag umiiyak.

jai, ako namamaga ang chin ko and nahihirapan ako magsalita and magchew. para akong sinuntok pero mejo natakpan ko ng concealer. nakaroom in kasi si baby kaya kami lang talaga ng MIL ko nagdecide to give her a bottle. pero nung nasa nursery pa si baby on the first day, nagpabili sila ng formula milk which they gave to her but cup feeding ata. when she was roomed in, i still didn't have supply so we gave her the NAN HW na pinabili samin using a bottle. looking back, yun ang naging pagkakamali ko. i shouldn't have introduced it to her para wala siyang notion na mahirap maglatch through a flat nipple.

marose, she wasn't asked to latch right after i gave birth. hay! tapos may breastfeeding room nga yung nursery pero no one is assisting you naman. on your own ang drama eh pano naman ang first time mommies na tulad ko? especially with my case. it was only after i got discharged na i realized i should've used a nipple shield kontra flat nipple. siguro kung well informed yung hospital sana nung start pa lang sinabi na nila sakin yun na solusyon.

michele, every when ang additional amount. sorry, san ka ulit nag-avail ng MF and how many percent per year?

yung alive na vitamins/supplement they sell sa tv noon..palagi paulit ulit and infomercial na yun halos mabaliw hubby ko don sa kapapanood!!..so tinignan ko ang mahal ng benta nila dito.. i searched online and meron sa US noon at mura pa..
madaming variants noon.. meron veggie caps, tablets, liquid version.
complete "daw" ito.. usual vitamins/minerals + omega 3 + mushrooms + pro-biotic

you can easily buy them sa vitacost or luckyvitamins.. (mas ok luckyvitamins kasi may points system sila..pwedeng ibawas sa total mo..
yung vitacost usually they have discount coupon codes.. pero lately wala..

re : BF
sa MMC bawal din ang bottles/nipples. cup fed din ang mga babies tapos they will call you sa room when it's time to feed the baby. hirap din mag latch.. the nurses helped me.. kaso ewan baka di makahinga si G noon.. engorged na kasi breasts ko.. so i helped with pumping.. di sya mag latch eh ang gusto na sana ng pedia was to give sugar water na.. sabi ko no.. basta every 3 hours na mag try kami mag direct feeding tapos di namin alam kung may nakukuha nga sya..basta pagbalik namin ni hubby ng room.. habang tulog si hubby mag pump naman ako.,. tapos yung konti ko na na-pump dadalhin ko sa nursery. i-cup feed ng mga nurses yon..
noong time na nasa mmc kami.. may naabutan ako lactation consultant who visited me sa room tsaka sa nursery.. she tried to teach me how to hold the baby and kung tama ginagawa namin.. ok naman daw.. ang concern kasi ni hubby eh kung meron syang nakukuhang milk from me..natatakot si hubby kasi baka daw malunod at di makahinga sa breasts ko.. 38c ako non.. ngayon dahil mataba naging 40c.
