thanks sis Cherry143 and sis liyapot for replying about sing-a-majigs.  :)

mommies, napansin ko humina dede ni baby ng milk nya kaya nagstop muna ako sa pagpakain ng solid foods sa kanya. pati [textspeak!] mga teething biscuits stop ko din pakainin sya. takot kasi ako mawalan sya ng gana uminom ng milk e di ba mas need pa nila uminom ng milk this time para dun sila get full nutrition? takot kasi ako baka pumayat si baby. or is it because he's also teething now? may lumabas na kasi 2 front teeth sa lower gums nya. ok lang ba istop ko muna pagpakain sa kanya o continue pa rin? thanks.

^ikaw na rin mismo nagsabi na baka teething ang dahilan :) you can't simply stop your baby from eating solids since they need to learn to practice chewing and it also has something to do with your baby's speech development.

ay talaga mommy Grayce? sige ituloy ko na pagpakain sa kanya. fear ko lang kasi is baka nga tuluyan na syang mawalan ng gana uminom ng milk. nakakaawa nga syang tingnan everytime na may nakikita sya may kumakain. nagchechew sya at talagang nakatitig sa pagkain namin. hehe. so talagang part na ng 7 months old baby yung pagpakain sa kanila ng solids sis? sige, sige thanks for the enlightenment!  :)

share ko lang, i had my son tasted kangkong leaf last friday (dinner). super little only. maybe the total i gave him was no bigger than a finger nail. tunay nga ang kasabihan "ang maliit ay nakaka-puwing". come saturday am, he vomited. then by afternoon he had wet poop. it was really stinky and so was his fart. and it smells like kangkong! til this morning he still had wet bowel movement. i really think it was the kangkong cause we never introduced anything new prior to that.

^how's your baby now, sis? Hope he's okay na.

I haven't tried kangkong, but i am planning to, when i cook sinigang this week. Sana walang ganyang reaction.

What i do, everytime i have a new food to introduce, i give it at lunch time or mid-morning snack. As much as possible hindi dinnertime, para kung may allergic reaction man, hindi sa gabi mangyayari na ma-interrupt sleep or if worse comes to worst, walang clinic or tulog na si pedia.

:-\ my baby naman sa broccoli nagkaroon ng constipation at first. i re-introduced it to him again after 3 weeks. ayun okay na.

pero nitong lately since teething cya, pahirapan kumain! ayaw nya yung fish with potato and carrots na i prepared. first time umayaw sa food si baby. d ko alam kung masyado cya natapangan sa herbs na ginamit ko sa fish pero previously naman same lang na fish binigay ko okay naman. no choice but to give him mashed potato from kfc since we're outside nun and yung extra food na dala ko for dinner na nya. then come sunday naman, i just gave him pureed apple na medyo malamig. he just keeps on biting the spoon..

pinkcoyote, he's ok now. thank you! had to place him in lugaw diet for 2 days.

my baby's yaya was telling me na kangkong daw is very hard to digest and it can cause empacho. eh matigas ulo ng nanay. ayaw maniwala sa old wives' tales. anyway lesson learned. i wont inroduce new food in the evening just to be on the safe side.

i prepared kamote today, first time to be introduced to baby who will soon turn 7months old.

i've given brocolli several days kay baby, kakatuwa enjoy sya. i froze then give 2cubes at dinner time.

mga sis, paano ba malaman kung gaano karaming solid (pureed) food kay baby?  i make sure she eat them after milk, kaso kapag naparami ang give sa kanya ng solid food, kumo-konti na ang milk nya...  Yung dating 7-6bottles nya na tig- 5oz per day, nagiging 5bottles nalang!  :(

^^never knew that about kangkong a. ill take note of this one, medyo prone pa naman maconstipate anak ko.

^^in order to puree you really need to add liquid in the form of water or breast milk/formula. for breast milk as what i posted here, i just mash it then add liquid once I'm going to serve it to baby.

re: quantity, depends, i follow baby's cue but a friend mentioned to me her pedia suggested to give baby at least 4oz per feeding so i just use this as a guideline. if baby still wants more, i just add 1oz more.

Mas maganda yung orange ang loob (puti/yellowish ang balat); it has higher beta carotene content vs the other variety.

THANKS sis grayce and dv!

sis grayce,
solid food ng baby mo is 4oz per feeding?  at what month yan and how many times a day?
wala kasi mabanggit ang pedia namin on the quantity, baby now is at around 2.5 cubes per meal, then 2x/ day lang, kasi pag nadamihan sa solid, hindi na nya kaya mag milk... mukhang mas gusto pa nya mag solid, medyo bitin sya sa 2.5cubes pero need parin kasi milk ang #1 food nya.

re: kamote, the best variant is yung purple ang loob since its very rich in antioxidants, next is yung orange ang loob. but i think rare ata yung purple, once palang ako naka chamba dito nun.

i can't remember exactly when did my boy started eating about 3-4oz as i just follow his cues. and i remember posting it here that in order for baby to avoid substituting breast milk with solids, i breastfeed my son before and after feeding for him not to wean early also. back read for more info :)

^my baby was like 7 months old when we first introduced to her the purple kamote... she didn't like it. probably because of the taste, so we just gave her sweet potato flavored happy baby organic puffs as her first finger food.

we just finished giving her spinach with chicken and rice cereal... she's been eating it for 3 consecutive days :D

1) kailangan ba special ang freezer tray na gagamitin?  yung nabili ko kasi is not specific for baby-usage. Biokips ang brand nya, with cover and ang mahal nya actually P250.  It can accomodate 7x3=21 cubes, and may nakalagay na "design award winner 2004 in germany" (?)
2) what freezer tray do you use?
3) ask ko narin: anong plastic bag naman ang gamit nyo where you can transfer the ice cubes once they are formed, para ma-free up yung freezer tray at magamit na ulit.
4) safe kaya ang ziploc for baby & for freezer???
one thing i think i can use is yung plastic bag na lagayan ng pang breastmilk, may mga sobra pa kasi ako na few pieces.

^ i used a generic ice tray with cover. And ziploc freezer bags, yung pang freezer talaga. Yung iba kasi manipis.

^^Yung 'white' kamote available sa Landmark grocery (kung sa TriNoma, it's located dun sa aisle na may fresh/uncooked corn). Naka-pack ito with styrofoam & cling-wrap.

I have one of those Biokips ice trays; I like it kasi air-tight sya at kung hindi pa frozen yung ice/baby food hindi matatapon kung sakaling magalaw while taking something from the freezer (plus sa akin that the brand is Red Dot--a prestigious design prize--awardee). Sure na hindi hahawa ang amoy o ma-contaminate ng other items in the freezer like raw meats, etc.

ow, may Red Dot nga sya, hehe.
binusisi ko rin kanina yang freezer tray na yan, wondering bakit may award sa design aside sa air tight. matigas sya, hindi mo gaano ma-tu-tweeze para mag pop-out yung mga cubes, pero aba nagulat ako kasi nakalas nga [textspeak!] mga cubes agad. nalaman ko lang kasi i openned, twist then cover again, then upside down alog alog, nakalas na pala [textspeak!] mga cubes!

hahanap ako nung ziploc na pang freezer.  this way makaka gawa ako ng marami pang cubes after maisalin yung contents.

btw, how many days ba pwedi ang pureed food ni baby sa freezer?  ang pag thaw naman namin ay yung maco-consume lang din agad.

thanks sisses for the info!
