^ yung mga cerelac and jarred food daw may cause yata the kids to become picky eaters.

If you want to give rice cereal, better to make your own instead of giving cerelac, which isvery high in sugar.

Or you can give veggies or fruits. Some say avocado is a good first food.

My baby has only tried jarred food 2x kasi pinipilit ako ng sister ko and both times she didnt like it. She's almost 1 and she has been eating homemade food since the start. Now minsan nagt-table food na siya dependin on what our ulam is.

my baby has started eating solid foods yesterday... ang saya saya...

A good alternative to homemade lugaw is Earth's Best Rice Cereal. It's sugar and sodium free. It's organic too. So unlike cerelac and the likes, this is flavorless. There are times kasi that I find making lugaw too tedious to cook before. Plus it doesn't freeze that well so I only make a little at a time. As a replacement, I sometimes used this product. Great as well if you're going out. Just mix it with homemade veggies, fruits and meat.

You can buy this fro Healthy Options.

sa healthy options lang ba merong earth's best rice cereal.  naghanap ako nyan kanina pero wala ako mahanap sa grocery store.  ang nahanap ko lang yung promina dry cereal brown rice with milk na nasa sachet.  okay din ba ito?  or parang cerelac and jarred food din sya?

Healthy options only. Promina is similar to cerelac. Check the labels

Let me just emphasize ha...Baka ma-misinterpret ako. Earth's Best is only a good alternative. But homemade is still the best. If kaya namang, gumawa ng homemade, then give that. It's a choice between fresh and boxed. Which do you think is better...

HeartHeart, why cereal? Why not make your own lugaw? Lalo na you're only introducing solids. Again, its choice between fresh and boxed. You'ree starting to let your baby get used to artificial food. Take this time to teach him/her to learn/love eat fresh veggies, etc.

^ditto :)

and andaming access dyan for fresh/organic fruits and veggies, why not take advantage of them? if ayaw mo magluto you can give avocado instead, haluan mo ng breast milk and voila, instant baby food na. there's also papaya or melon. you just mash the meat with fork. for veggies you can just steam then puree/mash them like carrots, sweet potato (my baby's favorite), squash, sayote, singkamas. the choices are endless. homemade baby food isn't too complicated to prepare :)

rice cereals or lugaw daw muna sabi ni pedia kasi least allergenic.

pero i'll make homemade na lang para sure na no preservative talaga.  bumili na din pala ako ng mesh feeder and 5in1 baby food processor.

thanks hunny_ally and Grayce!   :-*

^kung 6mos na si baby i don't see the reason why restrict his food sa cereals or lugaw lang. and yes better talaga homemade :) you can check wholesomebabyfood website for ideas and suggestions for baby food.

for the first food lang yung lugaw, for 4 days or upto 1 week.  then after that, veggies naman.  then next fruits.  excited na ako.  next month, 6 months na si baby.   :-*

hay just now i realize, my babies are loving solids more than their milk kaya i have to cut down the solids a little. siguro laging full ang feeling nila kaya humina sa milk at dahil teething, they love to munch. super complete meal kasi ako gumawa eh kahit a table spoon of each man lang for each impt aspect. but nwei, i'll trim it down to 5 tbsp all in all na per meal. hope they gain back and attain the 4-5 or more milk intake of 6oz a day. :'(

^with us, we give it to him the usual ginisang munggo. we boil first the monggo. Then in a separate pan, sauté garlic onions tomatoes and pork. Add the monggo. Let this boil until your pork gets tender. Once tender, we set aside a portion for my baby. Then with the rest we add seasonings and add other gulay like sayote/papaya and talbos ng ampalaya.

Now for my baby's portion, we mix this with his oatmeal. He rarely eats rice now cause he gets constipated. sometimes we also add some pre-prepared veggies into this like squash.
