Pros and Cons of Living in a Condominium against living in a house

House ako, mga sis. I don't know pero living in a condo is parang super modern. Ano pa kasi ako, probinsyana type. Simple living. Gusto ko may garden. Haha. Province type, ba. :-)

Saka parang home talaga kapag house ang tinirahan. Not that I am saying that condo is not a home ah, IMHO lang.

I have a question to our sisses currently living in condos . Malapit na maturn over unit namin kasi.
Do you really feel secure in your units?

We live in gated subdivision here in QC and would probably be staying in the condo during weekdays para lang malapit sa work . Worry ko lang is kahit kasi may CCTV and guards sa condo, do you feel secured ba talaga ? Like, sa hallways, elevators . As you know, yung neighbor mo sa condo is just a few steps away, unlike sa sarili mong house and lot na may gate ka  .

Sorry OT yata ito , but this is one of the concerns kung magiging choice mo tumira sa condo or not.

^hindi ako nakatira sa condo pero baka it would be helpful mag-research ng crime rate na nangyayari sa loob ng condo? at least may basehan talaga kung dapat mangamba?

yung tenant namin sa condo, mas pinili nila mangupahan doon kasi part ng work nung husband na mag travel madalas so naiiwan yung wife mag-isa sa bahay, mukha namang mas kampante siya sa ganoong setup.

^ it really depends on the demographics of the residents in your building. In our previous condo, mostly college students and young families so we felt secure naman. Kahit mag-isa lang ako naiiwan before when hubby was abroad, i didn't feel uncomfortable, kahit late na ako umuwi minsan. And we have intercom in the unit so i can call security/reception anytime. Wala na nakatira sa unit namin now, pero kumpleto pa ng gamit. We just visit from time to time.

In our present condo, mostly families din ang nakatira. Though mas wide ang age range ng residents - some have been living here for 30/40years - so me mga extended families pa ang iba. Wala din ako issue in terms of security.

Observe nyo muna siguro neighbors (and floor-mates) nyo. IMO, majority naman ng condo-dwellers mind our own business. Madalang ang interaction with neighbors, except if madalas kayo tumambay sa common areas like sa lobby, poolside, etc.

Yeah we feel safe naman. Aside from CCTV, there's access cards, attentive security personnel, and there are no rowdy neighbors.

I think it helps that we only have a few units per floor.

^at first we prefer a house. nakapagReserve na nga kmi before for the house sana. Then, while waiting nagrent kmi ng condo. thats the time na nagdalawang isip na kami to continue the house kasi parang mas gusto na namin tumira sa condo kesa sa house. We feel really more safe esp with the kids lalo na nung may yaya pa kami. Hindi makakaalis/makakalabas basta-basta ang yaya ng walang gate pass from us. Kaya minsan pag umaalis kami maskampante kami iwan ang kids. Plus, the amenities pa... Kaya we cancelled the house na and we bought a condo instead.

^ same sa amin. The household staff need gate pass before makalabas. lalo if kasama ang alaga, itatawag sa unit to confirm na pinapayagan (if hindi naka-indicate sa gate pass).. one of the things i like sa current condo.

^^ agree on the few units per floor. Sa previous condo, sa wing namin 4 units lang. Sa current condo, mas malaki building as well as the units, nasa 3-6 units per wing lang din. Hindi siksikan sa elevators sa both condos. madalang nga kami me makasabay e, lalo pag during the day when some residents are either in school or at work. And wide ang hallways.

Speaking of elevators, we have a unit in one of the buildings in Eastwood. Nakakaloka, ang bagal ng elevators. 2 elevators lang in one wing for 30+ floors (+ 2or3 levels basement parking pa)! Malaki ang elevators pero punuan lagi. Kaya ang hassle.

^thanks mga sisses na nag reply.  Good to know that majority feels they are safe.. Pero siempre we need to still be super conscious  to our safety but not to the point na maparaning lols.

Feeling ko kasi parang mag ho hotel lang, lalo pa at we really plan to go home sa QC house namin tuwing weekend. I hope I will really feel at home sa unit namin.

I was just talking about security sa condo, tapos heto suno sunod news about theft and even murder sa condos including high end ones.

^about that murder shown on TVP, nagtataka lang ako kasi naka log naman ang mga visitors. Yung suspect naman e former staff na rin. I'm sure aware din sya na may CCTV. Sobrang lax ng security nila. Nagtiwala siguro yung babaeng namatay dahil sa guards/cctv kaya kampante sya na kahit mag isa lang sya pinapasok nya.

^staff nga ata dati doon sa condo yun, pero nagmo-moonlight ata rin as cleaner sa condo nung girl kaya niya pinapasok...parang yan ang intinde ko sa news.

we would rather live sa House, good thing pareho kami ni hubby. we stayed sa condo for 2 years, rented, walking distance to Greenbelt Makati habang nag-iipon at naghahanap ng lot. then nagpagawa ng bahay kakalipat lang namin sa bahay 5 months ago no regrets in choosing a house over condo

Before, noong dalaga pa ako (hehe), I prefer to live in a condo but when I got married, house na kasi I like having my own garden and gusto ko, kapag malaki na si 4y/o and may mga projects sila sa school, he can comfortably invite his classmates/friends over sa bahay. 


May amenities din naman like clubhouse, swimming pool, basketball court, etc in case may mga parties kaya okay na okay. Within Marikina/Rizal area kami so medyo nag-rub off ang provincial living. Simple life in a suburbs setting.

Hmmm..I'm from Marikina. Grew up and lived there most of my life...although I'm also always in the US for 3-5 months a year. And we live in Tropicana (condo).

Wow. Thanks for this information sis! I really find it informative especially right now that I've been researching a lot about condominium units lately. I have 2 kids and they really wanted a condo na parang resort-style. I actually noticed na developers like DMCI e kilala sa ganun pero landing into this post makes me think about it well. Thanks!
