Pros and Cons of Living in a Condominium against living in a house

Saying na "binaha" maybe an exaggeration. But the fact na water was seeping thru the walls and windows and we constantly had to wipe the floors, is something you won't expect when you live in a condo. At first akala namin it's because the wind was pushing the rain through the cracks of the window. Kaso nung wala nang hangin at it was just rain, may tubig pa din. We even had to strip the flooring cause our room started to smell like molds. Reported it to the admin and they said that they need to waterproof again the outside walls but they can't do that until the rainy season was over.

^^ can you PM this to me as well? my dad nga told me to check our unit kasi if nag seep through yung water, may mali sa gawa ng contractor and it's going to be a pain for us.

@hunny_ally, naayos ba yung leak sa condo? sa tingin ko naman as long as hindi sinasadya ng developer at very cooperative naman sila sa pagre-repair baka the construction was not done in bad faith.

may tinanung akong friend about yung ngang mga tulo na ganyan kasi diba kahit sa bahay it is so common? kasi daw sa waterproofing minsan, you miss a small spot lang at hindi nalagyan magkakatulo talaga. o kaya raw sa condo baka dahil malakas sobra ang bagyo, naipon ang tubig sa taas.

siguro yung leaks isa mga pre-selling risks ng buyer. kaya yung iba ayaw ng pre-selling.

so okay na ba rented condo unit ninyo now? o baka nag move out ka na?

condo/apartment. A small space isn't a big issue for me. I don't think I need a bigger space right now since i'm not yet married (may pagpaparinig! hahaha) and i don't have kids yet.

I can't imagine living in a big house alone...parang ang lungkot nun.

quinone, yes the admin did some repairs on the sides of the building last December & I assume that was the water proofing. I don't know if that will work since we never had rains that lasted for days like during the habagat season. Anyway, that will be the problem of the next tenant since we are moving out.  I just made sure that the owner was aware of what happened since the paint on the walls were ruined. i dont want to get charged for that.

I prefer house talaga kaya lang ipon ipon pa kami. so far we are renting a flat, i just hope when we go back sa Pinas makabili nakami kahit lot muna.

when I was younger solve na ko sa condo pero now that I have a family I prefer a house.. iba pa rin yung malaki space parang you can breathe ganun.. saka if you own a house masasabi mo talagang sayo yung lupang kinatatayuan nun

Mas gusto ko house since im a big animal lover. I would like for my dogs to have an area to play around  and pag condo, iba pa yung bayad ng parking mo. When you have your own house and lot, you can do a lot of things

i'm torn between the two kaya di ako maka-decide. i would have wanted a condo just because of the amenities, 2 lang kame so kahit medyo maliit lang yun space (1 bedroom) ok lang. nagkalat lang sa city yun condo, kahit saan meron ikaw na mamili. cons naman madami ako nabasa dito sa GT about bad neighbors and management pag condo kahit from big developers. di naman biro price ng condo tapos di ka matahimik sa home mo kase dami pasaway na neighbors. and iba pa bayad sa parking (di  talaga namen to like). house naman, yours talaga, kahit ano gawin mo, mas may space and privacy. yun lang saan naman meron sa metro manila na mura lot, pagawa ka pa ng house. can't brave the traffic if from outside the metro (bulacan, laguna, rizal, cavite), ayoko ng mahabang byahe every day just because of traffic. gusto ko den magkaroon ng sarili ko, but hirap talaga ko makadecide.

My hubby bought a house and lot sa isang subdivision so atleast may amenities pa rin like condo pero hindi mo kailangan magbayad ng parking ang mahal kaya tapos mas may privacy pa.Sa sta rosa kami so kahit pano hindi masyado malayo sa Manila at maraming malapit na establishments kaya I'm happy.

my fiance and i prefer to live in a condo... as of now. almost the same price na nga lang ang condo and townhouse ngayon pero ang problema ng marami is the location. nag-scout kami ng house & lot sa nearby places (laguna, mindanao ave, rizal) pero aabutin parin yata kami ng 2 hours makapasok lang sa office (ortigas) which is sobrang nakaka-stress. both families naman namin nasa province so wala talagang uuwian.

kaya yun, buy muna kami ng condo unit and hopefully in 5 years makakabili na ng house & lot kahit outside metro manila na, para may uuwian tuwing weekend. eto talaga pinaka practical for starting couples, nakakaubos nga lang ng pera. hehe.

I intially wanted a condo kasi akala ko datiwala na kami mahahanap na house and lot s metro manila na afford namin and like most of you guys, i don't have the patience to brave traffic na 2+hours if coming from areas like Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, etc. And i dont want to live sa QC area as traffic there is worse. Buti nalang we found a village from an old developer sa may dirrrrty south (Alabang-Muntinlupa area).just 15-30mins away from Makati via SLEX (or is it SSH? Am not sure kung anong name ng highway).  May ammenities rin, clubhouse, basketball court, tennis court, swimming pool (pero hindi ko pa tinitignan kasi i dont plan on using it. Lol) they have an open space na pinagtataniman ng fruit bearing trees, so far okay din daw security sabi ng future neighbors namin. God willing, next year turn over na ng H&L namin ni fiance.

^^^  Hi sis, we have the same opinion re: condo vs. house. Convenient nga ang condo lalo na if you're working, then the amenities as well. Yung sa house naman sa ngayon parang konti na nga lang yung murang lots within Metro Manila.

I'm really interested dun sa mga H&L project around QC (Mindanao Ave., Tandang Sora) will read more about that.

Sis,pag sa village/subdvision may amenities na rin katulad sa condos. May mura parin, like 3M to 4M sa Alabang-Muntinlupa-parañaque area or sa QC are meron din.

^^ sis, east metro ko. wala yata ko alam na 3-4M na may amenities na subd/village dito malapit, puro condo pag below 5M range. alam ko 9-11M yun pinakamalapit na ok na village with amenities like condo. medyo malayo na south and extreme north metro samen. ayoko naman ng camella, daming negative reviews, yun lang yun may 5M na alam ko dito.

^ yun den big con ko sa condo, ayoko kase ng maingay pag nasa bahay. baka pati music ng neighbor and iyak ng baby dinig sa loob. i want a peaceful house (ako lang maingay).

ako sa house especially if you have kids. for me kasi nice lang mag condo if single ka or couple lang. for me kasi parang hindi family friendly or kids friendly ang atmosphere ng mga condos kahit pa mga high end condos  heheh. my opinion lang naman po.

^^ hi sis? Meron sa south. Sa may alabang-muntinlupa area. We bought a house and lot sa village near Ayala Alabang. Sa likod lang ng Muntinlupa cityhall. Old village. May basic amenities. Hindi RFO and binili namin kasi gusto namin makikita ang paggawa. It's a house and lot package from one of the oldest reputable realty folks. VV Soliven. Am not sure if anyone here is familiar with them but so far okay naman. They have properties sa Loyola Heights, Pasig, Bacoor, Quezon City. Sila din ang developer ng isa sa mga primetime drama princess ngayon ng ch2 , among others so siguro naman i cant go wrong with their roster of clientele plus mga nakausap namin na owners ng house developed by them.  Hindi naman malayo just 20 to 30mins to makati and 40 to 60mins or less to ortigas. (Ive tried it na!)
