Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC)

Hello GT moms!

I met with my new OB two weeks ago. After the interview portion of my check-up, after telling her na I delivered through CS in July 2009 lang, she asked me if I am willing to try to go into labor this time. Kahit medyo shocked sa question, na-excite talaga ako and natuwa sa sinabi nya. Si hubby rin natuwa kasi yung mga previous OB na navisit namin, sinasabi agad nila sa akin, "CS ka ulit ha".

So nag research agad ako about VBAC, the benefits, who qualifies for this, the risks, birth stories, success rates, etc. But these articles na nabasa ko are mostly based on studies and records in the US.

Anyone here who already had VBAC or know someone na nakaexperience nito? Please share naman po your stories. Ano po ang mga pinagdaanan nyo. Kahit yung mga hindi naging successful after trying this, maganda rin pong malaman naming mga mommies na gustong i-try ito.

CS ako last oct 2008 tapos i'm 8 weeks preggy now. Sabi ng ob ko try daw namin na mag normal delivery naman.. Na CS kasi ako before dahil nagka aapendicitis ako while pregnant.

Sounds good, but you have to check if the oby is really well trained (was she the oby you had before?)
there are complications that could arise esp when its only been two years since your last cs. Read more and also it helps to prepare and scout with an oby-gyne with good records and credential. Good luck!

^she's my ob din before sis. sabi niya try daw namin mag pre labor (i'm not sure with the term pero parang yun ang intindi ko) if kaya ko kaya wag daw ako magpataba. Pero in case mag decide daw ako ng 3rd baby pa, cs na daw talaga sa pangatlo.

I wanted to do VBAC and informed my OB. But there are certain requirements to qualify for VBAC. So even if I was so adamant about it, I had to follow my OB and cs again. If you're OB gave you the go signal good. Just make sure you and your baby don't get so big. If malaki masyado si baby, most likely ma CS ka again just like in my case. Good luck. Kay a mo yan!

sis, iba ang nagpaanak sa akin sa 1st child ko. itong bagong OB na nameet ko narecommend lang din ng friend ko and nabasa ko din dito sa forum. parang gusto ko lang itry na magpatingin sa ibang OB. sabi nya sa akin pinapractice nya talaga ito. when i told her na ang cause ng scheduled CS ko before ay breech position ni baby, she said hindi naman daw talaga masyadong relevant yung reason. yun po ang sabi nya ha. so possible pa rin daw talaga magnormal ako this time. yun ay kung willing kami ni hubby and then pag-uusapan daw namin mabuti sa next visit namin sa kanya.

^sis, I think they found out during my succeeding pregnancies masyadong maliit yun isang area sa birth canal ko kaya hirap mag descend ang baby. So if ever I wanted to do VBAC dapat maliit Lang yun baby but when I was about to give birth and I had a specific kind of ultrasound to check on the baby's weight and size, she was just too big. I think yun girth na sinusukat malaki masyado so we were advised to do a CS na Lang.

May reasons or health conditions na talagang di pwede VBAC pero Kung cord coil or suhi nung first,
Weed pa yun I try mag VBAC on the succeeding pregnancy kasi not all pregnancies are the same naman. Good luck.

ako din gusto ko din sana yan kaso sabi ng ob ko most probably CS din talaga ako ngayon. i gave birth to my first born nung october 2011 tapos ang due date ko ngayon eh mga 1st week ng july 2013. malabo ba?

last 2005 pa ang CS ko and breech si baby nun. So this time, vbac kame sabi ni ob and safe naman daw yun. Pinakukuha nya din pala yung hospital records ko dati para din daw malaman kung paano hiwa nung naCS ako. Sa march pa naman due date ko, update ko tong post after manganak..

Hi mga sis. Possible talaga ang vbac. CS ako Sept.2009 due to fetal distress. Akala ko nga kaya ko i-vbac etong 2nd pregnancy ko kaso few weeks before my due date biglang taas naman ng bp ko at natakot naman ako mag take ng risk kaya nag decide ako na repeat cs na lang. May mga nakilala rin ako na successful naman ang vbac. Basta lagi lang magpacheck kay ob at eat healthy foods para iwas complications na rin. Good Luck mga sis. Kaya niyo yan!

hi mga sis, update lang ako.

Last feb2, i gave birth to my baby. Hindi nangyare ang plan namin ng ob ko na magVBaC, kasi naunang pumutok ang panubigan ko, and narush agad ako sa hospital. Emergency na kasi, kaya narepeat cs na din ako. Preterm din si baby.

Gusto ko din sanang try ang VBAC, gave birth to my daughter last 2009, CS kasi nauna daw ang shoulder niya and di nagprogress labor ko kahit 3 days overdue na ko.  Nung minention ko kay OB na gusto ko try VBAC itong pregnancy ko, pwede naman daw, kaya lang kung kaya ko daw kasi inormal yung sa daughter ko, dapat daw di ako nahirapan maglabor, mukhang maliit daw ng sipit sipitan ko.  Tapos kung sure daw ako eh di GO kami sa VBAC, eh sabi ko parang natakot naman ako, kasi baka mamaya try ko magnormal, tapos bigla di ko pala carry, mas malaking gastos, ang sagot sa kin ni OB, siya din daw takot hahaha!  Pano pa ko magiging confident with that answer...

bihira ang OB dito sten na payag sa VBAC. palakpakan yan dapat. CS should be the only option if the safety of the mother & child is in danger.

miminibebe: kaya mo yan sis. fully healed na naman un tahi mo dba? if medicated ka naman like epi then go for normal. don't under estimate yourself kaya mo yan. will power, concentration and determination lang yan.

^sana nga sis, laking tipid din kasi kung normal, plus di mahirap ang recovery.  Anyhoo, matagal pa naman yun at 4 months pa lang ako today hehe.  Balitaan tayo mga sis kung sino dito ang makakapag-successful VBAC.

CS din ako nung 2008. Pero kung mapreggy ako ulit, eto talaga gusto ko. Dream ko ang normal delivery

Just read a lot of info regarding VBaC para mawala mga fears natin. Sa totoong buhay naman daw kasi, repeat CS has actually a lot more complications than trying for a vbac. Yun dahilan ng OB ma maliit na sipit sipitan, is not a valid reason unless you had your sipit sipitan measured talaga by a qualified doctor. Di naman tinatantya lang yun hehe. Remember, our body is designed to give birth normaly. And the baby is more safe and healthy if delivered vaginally (stronger lungs and respiratory system to name a few). Ive been reading about vbac and its success for the past two yrs. kalungkot lang to know na sa atin sa pinas parang may pagka backwards pa rin ang medical industry sa paniniwala. Like many OBs still stand by sa belief na once CS aleays CS.

CS ako last april 2011. Tas i am 2 months preggy now. I am located here in malaysia pero since i cant find a vbc friendly OB here, ill risk na umuwi dyan ng pinas to give birth under kay Dra Jose of UP-Pgh. She was referred to me. Pinapauwi nya ako ng pinas on my 6th month. Naku sana nga mag push through etong VBAC. Update kayo mga sisses ha of your experiences and OBs tips! TIA!
