Hi, actually dito sa place ko di gaano nakakatakot kc malayo naman ang Egypt, at yung mga Egyptians na kasama namin, wala lang basabasa lang ng news at dasal dasal lang, most of the time media people are the one making the story more sensational so that people all over the world will buy their story.  to make themselves famous.

Hi jps.. 

Almost 10 years na here in UAE. Mas lenient, mas tolerant towards diverse cultures dito, and lots of places to go to for recreation and leisure. I've heard from someone who came from Saudi, sabi nya, "UAE is paradise".. Siguro considering how Arabs stick to tradition and religious beliefs, talagang naiiba ang UAE. But as respect to our host countries, we have to still observe some limitations.

as of this moment not too warm pa dito, medyo maginaw pag early in the morning at masarap mamaluktot.
But as per their culture still we have to follow their rules or else..... kalabush....
still wearing the abaya and have to bring tarha (hijabb) whenever sum1 will ask u to use.(esp Muttawwa) NOT a lot of recreations, bawal party, bawal pa rin makipag usap sa opposite gender kundi mo asawa.
usual typical Muslim culture that we have to follow if you want to stay in their land. But meron ng asenso, kc 3 weeks ago we had a huge flood na usual mo lang makikita at ma encounter sa Pinas. unfortunately itong work place namin binaha lampas tao sa basement (car park+offices). But with God's grace after 3 days we're back to work operational na ulit ang hospital namin. There a lot more to say but maybe next time naman.

When I was a kid (6-9yrs old) nakatira kami sa Jizan, Saudi Arabia...sometime our family would travel to Abha and Riyadh.

Now I'm here in UAE

Ang laki ng pagkakaiba..
Mas madali mamuhay dito sa UAE. Not a lot of restrictions compared to Saudi. Marami na ring stores here that sell Filipino products, restaurants serving Filipino Dishes, etc.  So it feels like home na rin.

dito kasi although may restrictions, itinuturing na pinaka-free sa middle east even UAE diba need pa ng license para bumili ng alak, dito wala bili lang ng bili, inom lang ng inom, wag ka lang mgddrive ng lasing at kapag nahuli ka kulong at bayad ka, oh madami din nga pala ditong bars    Then sa bar or kahit saan madaming babae na ehem ehem mababa ang lipad, pili lang ng pili, basta may pera go. Marami din ditong bahraini na hinde na naka-abaya, western clothes na din. Open country i should say. Kaya tuwing weekends dinudumog dito ng mga qatari, kuwaiti at ang pinakamatindi saudians

True, we need to have license before we can buy any alcoholic beverages here and there's a specific salary before you can get that license.  But there are a lot of other ways in getting alcohol, maparaan ang mga tao here hehe!

oo nga sis nagulat nga ako ng sinabi ng kaibigan ko dyan na kaylangan pa daw ng license. Kala ko kasi kasing open ng bahrain ang UAE

UAE as a whole no.. There are some emirates that are very strict say for example Sharjah sabi nila "dry" daw dun meaning no alcohol is allowed.

Meron naman emirates where you can buy freely not sure which one exactly coz I haven't been there yet.

Here in Dubai, well it's an open city but still there are restrictions.  For example, you can buy pork here but in selected supermarket/grocery stores only, they should have a license to sell that...ganun din sa restaurants, they need to have license to serve pork (and alcohol na rin).

What I heard yung law daw talaga is you need to have a license even if you drink in bars or at home.  But hindi nila masyadong implemented ito, coz if they do kawawa ang hospitality industry.  Sabi nila you can drink outside or at home but be sure na walang trouble or else kulong ang aabutin mo.

Hassle ang license, coz as I've mentioned previously may specific salary to get one.  Then you have to renew it yearly with a 160AED fee. Although there's some freebies and promo with renewing your license, still hassle pa rin.  But I'm not really into alcohol so I don't mind hehe!

Oh by the way yung sinasabi mo na mga girls in pub...marami din nyan dito even in 5 star hotel nga raw talamak.

^agree sis! nakakainis na nakakahiya kasi parang  minsan nka stereotype na ang mga pinay as "bayaran" (sorry for the word). Kung tutuusin ang dami namang pinay dito na malinis at maayos ang trabaho pero nadadamay sa mga ganyang image. May kakilala ako na nabastos once sa labas ng isang mall sa Diera(Dubai) kasi inofferan yata sya ng isang arabo and asked her "how much?". to think ha na dumaan lang sya dun kasi papasok sya ng mall and she was in her normal descent clothes.

I am not the one working in Middle East, si hubby but I've been to Dubai and Sharjah. Si hubby naman, sa Dubai nagwowork.

I stayed in Dxb for 2months where I got pregnant with my then-bf now-hubby may working permit na sana ako but we're not yet married kaya umuwi ako ng Pinas and dito na muna nagstay. Pero baka 4th quarter of this year or early next year sunod na ako kay hubs.

Hindi naman masyadong strict sa Dubai. I can wear clothes na nasusuot ko dito satin. With alcohol naman, pwede sa bahay pero syempre oorder ka din ng patago kung wala kang license. Hirap lang ako sa Dxb yung sa bahay. Kasi may housemates kame sa isang flat. Pero masaya naman dyan, mainit nga lang (summer and Ramadan nung dumating ako). Masaya magmall!
