Because of this thread, we'll be able to cut 85,000+ from our wedding package! Thank you ladies for inspiring me to think really hard on what matters most.

This week, napaisip ako what really is the definition of a 'dream wedding'. Is it really about the 'dream' suppliers, the number of guests, the designer of your wedding gown etc.? I know some may define it like this (and I totally respect that), but for me, it is really about the celebration of love, life and the bond of the two families.

I never felt so in control of our wedding. We are simple (me and my h2b). And I want to reflect everything that we are on our wedding day. I remember reading an article that says something like this,

"Never let anyone dictate the kind of wedding you really want just because your wedding coordinator or other suppliers or family members/friends said so (because it is the trend, or it is nice to have, or because this is what everybody else does). This is your wedding and you know what matters."

At the end of the day, the best compliment (I think aside from the 'food's awesome!') I think we'll ever receive is, your wedding is so 'YOU' (not from some wedding they saw on TV or some magazine).

^ako naman, i am not yet getting married lurker lang ako dito hahaha!

Yung gown ng bride plain white tube dress ang design, yung veil wala din kaarte arte, hmua niya yung kapitbahay lang niyang parlorista, pero when i saw the p/v on her fb, ang glamorous and ravishing and syempre dashing ng dating niya. So ibig sabihin totoo talaga na makikita sa picture kung anong klase yung subject. Given na, nakakadagdag sa ganda yung mga anik anik, pero iba pa din yung ganda ng sariling aura during your special day. And not to mention how happy the couple and the guests are.

I agree with the p/v, though we chose not to have the albums of the photo package and the SDE and the Save the Date video from the video package. One because, we found a cheaper alternative for the albums, not to mention much better than the coffee table album we usually see. Second, we'd rather spend the money on other things like, sa mga trips namin for our honeymoon.

As for the food, I think there are a lot of cheaper alternatives na hindi macocompromise yung quality nung food. Hindi ibig sabihin na sikat na yung supplier, they are the best.

What happen kasi ngayon, ang nagiging basehan ng magandang kasal is how bongga it is or how bongga your suppliers. Nawawala yung essence nung celebration itself.

true. i've seen weddings na na-feature pa sa mga wedding blogs/sites. because of the big time suppliers. pero when you really look at it, parang hindi naman ganun kaganda talaga. parang bongga lang kasi sikat nga yung pangalan.

recently, an acquaintance got married in tagaytay. with all the bigtime suppliers talaga with the styling and everything. pero when u look at the wedding photos, parang overkill na. as in lumabas tuloy na super gaudy and overdesigned yung wedding nila, from the church to the reception. as in eyesore. nothing beats simplicity pa din talaga. what matters most are the vows that you will take as husband and wife.

one particular wedding got stuck in my head.super expensive ng wedding nila with sikat na suppliers.pero wala akong maramdaman sa pics. in contrast to a particular wedding na super simple down to the gown pero ang couple ang happy nila.dun ko naramdaman yung good envy na sana all goes well sa wedding namin so much so na nagraradiate sa guests and pics ang happiness. :)

Thank you sis. Believer din ako sa simpleng celebration. Like sis jentotmd said, mas worthwhile yung makita mo na nagraradiate sa couple and guests yung saya nung wedding. I know guests would appreciate magarbong wedding, but those who truly love you both as a couple wouldn't mind for as long as they see you both happy and witness your wedding.

i have this bookmarked:
http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/doublex/2012/09/big_weddings_are_overrated_and_expensive_you_should_elope_.html

what she did is a bit more extreme for my taste. i can't imagine not having our parents. but her opinions resonated with me, for the most part. the money, the planning, the stress-- i know that i do not have the personality for it. but i actually like weddings. it's just not something i want to lose my head over. :)

years ago a friend of mine got married in our parish.. she was wearing a white dress with the traditional short mantilla veil enough to cover her head and her face...the groom was in a barong then the entourage were their siblings in simple long dresses..

the church was not decorated much since maganda naman yung altar.. ilang flower pots sa pew lang ang nilagay... then kami na yung kumanta since kasama namin sya sa parish org...

her invites was a simple postcard type..and reception was done sa bahay lang nila with catering and string quartet..

knowing the couple they could have afforded a more elaborate wedding..

it was one of the simplest wedding i have attended..

I know a couple who got married a few years ago who invited no one to their wedding. As in zero guests. And it wasn't not because the guy can't afford it (they live in a mansion and have sportscars galore). But listening to them describe their wedding day, it indeed sounded very special and intimate, just the way they wanted it. Even the gown was unconventional. Talagang kung ano gusto nila, yun ang ginawa nila, deadma na lang sa "tradition" at kung ano isipin ng iba, LOL.

Another couple naman last year, may guests sila but I think less than 20 lang. From well-to-do families also. The wedding was simple but looked classy, judging from the few photos they posted on FB. A truly gorgeous couple, by the way.

And finally another couple, both doctors, na ginulat na lang kami lahat at nagpakasal na. Heartbroken ang marami naming friends kasi off the market na si girl, LOL. They did not make a huge deal out of their wedding. Does not seem like they had an entourage of any kind. Her dress was so simple -- I own dresses more bongga than what she wore, I kid you not. Mukha naman they wanted it that way. Also, no prenup photos, SDEs, etc. Just a few pics lang after the wedding.

after months of planning a "traditional" church wedding and then reception for 100-150 pax, we are now planning to ditch our plans and return to our original plan which is to have an intimate wedding. we're setting our budget to 100K. :)

Im getting married on December this year. And I just wanted it to be simple too. Kind of intimate lang with family and friends.. siguro more or less 100 pax. Was able to get the rings already and going to book the caterer (Queensland because their set- up was great and heard great reviews plus affordable pa) this Sunday during their food tasting.

The venue was taken care of by my h2b's dad. And dahil Christian wedding, we'll have only one ceremony and reception venue. Pati pastor ok na kasi friend din ng dad nya haha!

I'm actually planning to use Spotify lang nga for the music and sounds lol. So I think I just need a supplier who will take care of the sound equipment which Im going to book on the upcoming wedding fair..Ill ask my bro to be the DJ :D

On the invites naman, planning to do it DIY lang pati sa save the date invites for the guests na hindi sponsors. Sa dami ng cute templates sa internet I think we can do it naman. Kasi from the wedding fairs, average price ng package for the invites mga 5k for 100 pax, e Im thinking if I can buy a nice printer na for that cost para magamit pa pagkatapos :D pwede pa magprint ng kung ano- ano like table tags, thank you cards, etc. hehe. Dahil h2b gave me a nice 4/3rds camera for my birthday last April, gagamitin ko for a little fun shoot with h2b, me and our pets! (a cat and a tzu) photographer namin? timer and a tripod. lol.

Sa emcee ill ask friends nalang, kahit 2 sila. para tipid and mas masaya kasi if they know us personally.

The gown, I'm looking at RTW's lang. I want a simple dress lang talaga. yun tipong I wont be needing my maid of honor to carry a trail haha! and im actually considering on renting pa nga..looking at olx ads ;) kasi yun mga officemates kong kinasal, they were kind of telling me hindi naman na nila uli magagamit yun wedding gowns na binili nila, its usually sitting on their drawer lang nasasayang lang and ang mahal ng bili nila..

Makeup.. ako nalang. lol. I love makeup and that's my ultimate dream. Kate Middleton and Vanessa Matsunaga lang ang peg. :D and Im excited kasi I get to do makeup shopping haha!!

Si h2b gusto nga niya nakasneakers lang and medyo casual ang get up so he can still use the wardrobe kahit after the wedding. basta eto lang ang peg..

http://data3.whicdn.com/images/14667735/large.jpg

for his entourage.. we're looking at gingham blue shirt (planning to buy at uniqlo lang lol) with yellow bow tie. we find it cute and simple lang..

http://www.glendaloughmanor.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/i-loveswagmag.jpg

and for the giveaways, personalized playing cards or eco bags for the ladies so the guests can use it talaga ;) yun we're yet to book din sa fair but we saw some samples already.

ayoko rin ng traditional program. We're actually planning na yun buong reception program composed of games lang (parlor games!) and song or dance numbers from our guests na friends and family. Ill ask my friends to do a group dance number lang haha!

and for the p/v hindi pa ako decided if Ill get a package lahat kasi nakikita ko super mahal kahit sa wedding fair. Cheapest I think halos 30k photo pa lang :( yun on- site vids baka wala na. or isipin ko pa kung may ok na mura. mga vid presentation, balak ko ako nalang gagawa. Ill ask h2b gumawa rin sya for me haha! Hello Magisto App! Ill need a projector though :/ but I think that would be fun. yun photos nalang siguro ibook ko.

Di na rin kami kukuha ng photobooth but if ever, well get something super simple as in camera and printer lang. and the backdrop DIY lang..

I saw a very nice DIY store sa SM Megamall sa new fashion hall nila. Name of the store's, Celebrations Party Central and andami DIY stuff they make me giddy! You might want to check them out DIY sissies. :)

The flower decors, planning to replace them or minimize maybe by using pinwheels nalang para di na ako mangarag and we can do it days or months before. Madali lang sya gawin but they look great and quirky!

The cake, order nalang sa Mom and Tina's or patong patong na Mango Bravo from Conti's :D saya!

Infinity dress naman balak ko ipasuot sa entourage ko. They can use it after the wedding pa. I wanted to buy one for myself too..for maybe, a second outfit look for the reception ;p

I hope you keep the ideas coming sissies! I love to hear more suggestions! Thanks to pinterest and the countless Apps nowadays, planning can be such a breeze. I feel no pressure at all.lol!

sis, kung sa p/v may mahahanap kang pasok pa sa budget. try ShutterPanda (shutterpanda.com). Yung quote nila sakin, 33K for p/v, walang pre-nup yun. try mo din Silay Studios, yung package nila before 25K p/v na din. meron yan, medyo mahirap lang maghanap :D
