Blighted Ovum
« on: January 16, 2011, 12:59:55 pm »
I just found out yesterday that our first baby is a blighted ovum... I couldn't believe that just a few weeks ago, my husband and I were both very excited when we found out I was pregnant after several years of trying to conceive. And now, it felt like my heart has been ripped apart.

I feel so sad. My husband is abroad and though we talk everyday, right now, I feel so lost and alone... All I want to do is sleep so I won't feel the pain anymore.

I know exactly what you feel. Last Jan 15 it was confirmed that our first baby is a blighted ovum. The following day, I was admitted to the hospital for a D&C operation aka raspa. It was only 2 weeks since that happened and I'm still in bedrest. I've been having nightmares since then and some bouts of sadness mixed with depression. I was even having nightmares about our baby, I was waking up in the middle of the night crying. Our doctor said that I might experience some post-partum depression. Little by little, i'm pulling through with the help of my husband.

My OB is now taking care of me, making sure that I'm healthy and ready for my next pregnancy. Having a blighted ovum means that your capable of getting pregnant, all we have to do is try again.

Hope you will recover soon sis.  :)

sis vixenfern and pookiekai,

i've never experienced a blighted ovum pregnancy. but what i had was miscarriage at 4months of gestation way back november 2007. it took me 3 years to conceive again. my heart goes out to both of you. it will be really hard but i know both of you will be strong and recover. my prayers are with you.

Bale, pinag rest yung womb for a year.

hi sisses, i feel for you... i had blighted ovum twice.

the first was in oct 2008. my OB wanted to wait and make sure that it was indeed, blighted ovum. but before he recommended D&C, lumabas na ng kusa yung sac ko. It was so painful, maybe like having labor. i passed out in the bathroom and hit my face on the floor. i was alone at home that time, i woke up, still alone, only to find that i was bleeding below and my face was all bruised too: cut lip, dislocated teeth, etc. it was a nightmare. it took me a longer time to recover emotionally and physically from the accident, rather than the miscarriage.

the second pregnancy was in march 2009, again a blighted ovum. my OB was still not sure what was wrong with me and why the 2 consecutive blighted ova. Before i was scheduled for D&C, i miscarried at home again. Since this was expected, my husband never left my side, and went through that labor-like pain again when the sac was coming out.

third pregnancy in aug 2010 - my OB said, when i try to conceive next time, that i should go to him as soon as i miss my period, even if it's just one day delayed. i did that, confirmed im pregnant and he gave me progesterone hormone to support the pregnancy. i was on progesterone until the third month. i am now on my 32nd week :)  i just wish, this was detected sooner than later. it would have saved me a lot of time and tears. A loss is a loss..one needs to grieve, accept then move on.  I will have my baby soon, but i will never forget my 2 other angels...

hi,
me too had blighted ovum last feb2010. as per my OB may chromosomal abnormalities daw kaya nagiging blighted ovum. meaning from the start pa lang di na maganda yung pagkakabuo. she also ordered my husband to have semen analysis (SA) and we found out out na low sperm count and slow motility. my OB referred us to a uro. and the uro prescribed my husband to take andriol 3x a day for 21 days and a multivitamins. while my husband taking his meds, I also took folic acid in preparation. May 2010 I got pregnant again. I just gave birth last jan25.

don't loose hope. in HIS time..

group hug to all of us :) we all won't forget our angels who may have never set foot here on earth but have served as an inspiratoin to all of us to keep trying.

you're right sis sky, in HIS time.

thanks for sharing your stories here. indeed, it's tough dealing with the emotion and experience of a miscarriage, but I learned that we should not lose hope.

Just had my 2nd miscarriage last month. i once again underwent D&C due to blighted ovum. The first one was traumatic because there is no bleeding (only internal bleeding) so pina induced labor pa ko. the second one is at 11 weeks due to early fetal demise on its 7th week. pero it's not blighted ovum, because naging embryo naman siya.  i changed OB and my D&C procedure this time around is better, not much bleeding and painless. Physically, i am more recovered now but of course emotionally, it will take more time for me to heal.

hoping of all hopes that someday, the baby will come.  :(

Then nagdecide kami ni hubby na after a year na lang sundan kasi natrauma ako. Right now i am happy na 9.weeks na akong preggy bed rest unyil3 months and need mag take ng mga meds. Mga sis wag kayo .mawalan ng pag asa ibibigay ni god yun para sa atin. just pray lang and dapat ready na tayo for another pregnancy.

last oct 2010 i had d&c due to blighted ovum din.. ttc kami for 7yrs, 1st namin sana yun ni hubby. it was so painful... parang nung time na yun hindi ko maintindihan why it happened to us. i grieved for a long time, until now masakit pa rin.  But God is really good.. after 9 months eto 15 weeks preggy na...hoping & praying so hard na successful na this time.

yung pain na napi-feel natin madalas we have to be thankful din dun kasi they make us much more stronger..

In God's Perfect Time

Babyy dust sa atin mga sisses

hi sis, sa St.Luke's Global city.Actually 25k lang ang quote sa akin all in na with prof fee and overnight lang but then, again, matagal bago nag-open ang cervix ko, need pa to dilate it and once again induced labor. but the medicine that they used is different and organic daw kaya painless unlike my first. that's why umabot pa ako ng 3 days and kumuha na ako ng private room kaya umabot na ako ng 40k all in na yun with prof fee. less 6k na philhealth ko, so around 34k. hope this helps!
