TAKING UP MASTER'S DEGREE

Im torn between Clinical psy and Industrial Psy. Ano kaya mas bet? huhu and what school kaya best sa clinical and industrial?

Hi! I just have a question. I'm really torn between finding work abroad or taking up master's here in the Phils and shift from a call center job to a career in Human Resources. I've considered Law, Professional Education, and even culinary, but I think an MA in Psychology is better if I want to have a family soon. Anyway, I am a nursing grad, but I can no longer picture myself as a nurse. Aside from having no experience, pahirapan makahanap ng nursing job here in the Phils and abroad.

My question is, it ok to take an MA is Psychology even if my Bachelor's is not related? And what's the difference between Clinical Psychology and Industrial Psychology? Can I still work while studying? Lastly, how long would it take to complete a Master's degree?

^ hi sis, pwede ka magtake ng differrent course for your MA kahit iba sia sa undergrad mo.. but be ready dahil normally my additional bridging subjects na add-on sa mismong MA program. That means longer period for you to study. depende sa evaluation nila, pwede 9 units or more. MA program can be finished minimum of 2 years.

I got mine at the Asia Pacific college, sat classes, part time student ako and still have my fulltime job during weekdays. Finished it within two years.

I would really like to take my Masters, but it's been close to 10 years since my college graduation. Sometimes I wonder if my profs will still remember me (when they write their recommendation letters) and if I can still study...

^hi sis. To answer your question of course you can still study. Learning is continuous process. Walang age limit diyan. =) i know someone as old as 49 taking their masters degree. =)

Clinical psych: You'll be in the medical field sis. Assessing mental health problems. diagnostics and treatment.
Industrial psych: You'll be in the field of human resources, more on offices, training and development to assess employees and most especially your organization


Yes sis, pwede naman But im not sure if they would add subjects since nursing grad ka. You can actually finish your MA in just 2 years. Goodluck sis!

Hi mga sis! I am a graduate of a health-related course and I also complete a master's degree related to health. I am planning to shift into business. Which would be better - take B.S. in Business Ad as a second degree or just get a master's degree in Business Ad? Would it be easy to apply for a job kung MBA kukunin ko despite my non-business related undergrad?

I'm in my last year of my Masters.  Kinda Tiring but Im having fun at the same time meeting new friends, high ranking officers of a good company asking for answers during exams, sharing notes etc. . . From as young as fresh grad to as younger as 50's they are all around sharing thoughts, experience and tips.  Talking and sharing thoughts with them is an achievement already . .

I have 2 failed grades during college, wala na bang pag asa para makapag masteral? TIA

Ako din, di ako grade concious eh. Pangit grades ko nung college kaya I want to take an "easy" masteral degree just to have better grades. I think kasi sa panahon ngayon mas mabenta ka if meron kang masteral degree. I don't want to "study", I just want to "learn", and earn a degree.

I finished my masteral degree last year (total of 6 semesters, kaya sana ng 5 sems kaso ang hirap gumawa ng thesis while you're full time at work din). Definitely significant ang changes in terms of job grade; but getting an MS degree is not for the faint hearted.

Anyway to answer your question on scholastic records, depende sa program and school. In UST for example, if you're a ust grad (Bachelors), you're no longer required to take the entrance exam unless may failing grade ka sa transcript mo during your bs. But definitely they would accept you as long as pasado ka sa exam

i would like to learn more sana about running a business. kumbaga, practical approach sana. from paghahandle ng mga employees, control ng purchases, pag audit ng cash flow  etc etc.

ang impression ko kasi usually pag nag masteral, para magka edge sa pag apply ng work. hindi ko naman magagamit yun dahil hindi man ako mag apply.

^if your goal is to just run the business, i dont think a masters degree is necessary. anong college degree ang natapos mo? most of the business course already covers your concerns kase. if talagang manning lang ng business and kelangan siguro hiring and auditor would be more practical

I suggest na attend ka ng mga seminar it would help you a lot. Than taking masters degree. =)

@m_lim I have a classmate who is planning to continue running a family business. She has studied in Australia pa nga, but she took up MBA pa. Well, as a 1st year Techno MBA student, I think okay naman mag MBA ka. In my case kasi,  I am an engineer and I'm all new sa accounting ang stuff. So, through MBA, I have understood about credit, debit, how to document merchandising account in my Fin Acctg classes. Tapos naman, I have interacted with a new bunch of people who have the same mindset.  Developing my reporting skills and more importantly, building connections and exploring more things that you can do. It's actually fun. Though it's not a requirement if you want to run a business,  it's a great experience.

Inspiring siya for me. And, the reason for my taking up a new course is that I want to niche write about businesses. Still finding that topic though. So yun.
