^^sis if tourist visa ang kukunin ko is it possible to get the working visa na there?? O wala talaga? If the tourist ang get ko saang visa ako magfall? I mean may iba ibang klase din under tourist eh. Also im single and 22. Mas madali ba kung migration ang kukunin ko? Sorry im really confused. I want to explore and go kasi soon. Thanks!

If you're not sponsored by a relative, Tourist Visa subclass 676. Kung sponsored, yung Sponsored Family Visitor visa (Subclass 679)

And no, I don't think you can apply for a working visa here in Australia if you're on a tourist visa and a Philippine passport holder. Wala nga sa list ng Immigration ang Philippines. Philippine passport holders can't even get an ETA Visitor visa, unfortunately.

For reference lang, eto yung ETA I'm talking about and eligible passports that can apply for it

IMO if you're in a tourist visa here, never look for a job. Napanood ko dati sa Border Security, Tourist visa holder sya pero ang dami nyang dalang certification ng pinagtrabahuhan nya. Decline tuloy sya.

Thanks for all the informative response! :D if id be sponsored should it be first relative? Kasi sila medyo malayo na eh pero they are willing if ever coz of the close ties between my parents. Much better paba un kesa mag-apply ako alone?

Hi! My husband is doing the graduate entry course in UniMelb at the moment as a local student if you are referring to the Masters in Nursing Science. According to some of his international student classmates, parang hindi worth it especially since it's very expensive and there is no assurance of PR after graduation.

According to a doctor friend who is doing her Renal fellowship at Royal Children's, by 2015 daw covered na ng locals ang requirements for workforce due to a lot of scholarships provided by the government as in kaliwa't kanan ang incentives just for people to do at least EN and they are giving a lot of incentives to nurses who stopped working after maternity leave to come back to the workforce.

What we suggested to relatives who just passed the nursing board is to get the 2 years experience first so they will only need the bridging course which would only cost at most $5K in tuition fees compared to almost $50K in uni tuition fees.

Weigh the costs and benefits sis since nursing is not as lucrative as it seems according to my husband.

Thank goodness somebody here knows about that degree. :) Thank you for your input, sis lalei. I opted not to take up nursing kasi alam naman natin na years back, sobrang hirap na makakuha ng jobs 'yung graduates, lalo pa ngayon. I wanted to take it up, I had a choice to take it, but decided against it. I didn't like na everybody's taking it up, but I really liked the job (almost grew up in a hospital kasi my godmother works in a hospital tapos lagi niya akong kasama). :D Looking at it now, buti na lang hindi ko kinuha. I have lots of batchmates, batchmates of my ates, na wala pang trabaho. :(

I'm thinking of back-up plans now. Baka mag-second course na lang ako rito (in the medical field pa rin, kasi frustration ko 'yun)... because my degree now, even if I'll be finishing it in a very good university, wouldn't land me in a job (that I like) listed in the SOL.

Do you guys know anyone who's a radiographer (radiologic technologist here) now in Australia?  I'm also looking up options for my cousin.

^Singapore Airlines diba sa Singapore ang stopover? Cathay Pacific sa HK.

Kung checked thru Adelaide ang baggage, hindi na kelangan kunin and magcheck in ulit. Normally, checked all the way thru na yun pero doesn't hurt to ask the staff at the check in counter sa Manila, just to be sure.

Have you been admitted to the Philippine Bar, and have you practised as a lawyer? I'm currently studying law in Melbourne and working full time as a intellectual property paralegal in a commercial firm. It involves a long process for an overseas lawyer to qualify as a lawyer in Australia, which consists of the following:

- Priestley 11: you need to study at least (that I know of) the eleven subjects that consist of the "Priestley 11". You can do a maximum of 4 subjects per semester (subject to the university's permission), so to complete the eleven subjects, it will take you about a year and a half. Here's a Wikipedia entry on the Priestley 11: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priestley_11 Since you are a graduate of a Civil Law system, the judicial body in the state you want to be admitted as a lawyer in may most probably require you to do more than eleven subjects, moreso if you've never practised as a lawyer. In my university, one law subject costs at least $3000. After completing the required subjects, you have to go through what any other law graduate does to get admitted and get a practising certificate, which are PLT and a Graduate Traineeship.

- Practical Legal Training (PLT): This involves further study, although the subjects are more practical than standard law subjects in university. PLT can be done through training institutions such as Leo Cussen's, College of Law or A.N.U. Duration is about seven months to a year. PLT costs at least $7700.

- Articled Clerkship/Graduate Training: The hardest, the most cut-throat and the most competitive step to admission. There is a high saturation of law graduates in Australia as law is a popular degree and those who usually obtain Graduate Training positions are HD students who consist of around the top 3 per cent of a student cohort. A Graduate Traineeship is done in a law firm, that is, you have to be employed as a Graduate in a law firm. To obtain a an Graduate Traineeship in a law firm that offers it, you need to have done a Seasonal Clerkship with that firm in your final year of uni. As aforementioned, you normally need to be in the top 3% of your law school cohort to get a Seasonal Clerkship. A Graduate Traineeship enables a law graduate to undergo supervised legal training which is required to obtain a practising certificate in most states.

I'm not sugarcoat it and will be honest. Getting admitted as a lawyer in Australia is ABSOLUTELY TOUGH. It is one of the most competitive industries to get into and last I checked, only 50% end up getting admitted. Moreover, many many lawyers quit law within five to ten years of being admitted. Being a lawyer involves CRAZY HOURS (I received an email from my lawyer boss once at 1:45AM, yes, AM!) and it involves so much sacrifices, such as time with family, weekends, sleep, pursuing hobbies, etc. Sometimes I ask myself why I do it! But ambition and a supportive husband helps me stay motivated. Oh, and you don't even get a really good salary until you become Senior Associate!

Oh by the way if you want to become a barrister (a lawyer who represents clients in court), you have to go through a further process to get admitted to the bar!

If you are willing to go through what I've just mentioned, and have the means to pay for law school and PLT, then go for it! It may be a tough profession but it can be also very rewarding at the same time.

Good luck!

^nyay! I don't do whitening po :) wala rin naman dito na whitening creams etc. Ni hindi rin ako nagpapayong, unless umuulan ;D  mga nagpapayong kasi dito, iniisip nila TURISTA or FOB (fresh off the boat) lol! Kasi yun mga Aussies, they super love the sun. Even Asians na pinanganak dito (shempre Aussie na yung mga yun), they love sunbaking.

Mag sunblock ka na lang para less sun damage. Matindi araw kasi sa Australia talaga... sobrang init na ba? Ok pa nga yan, hintayin mo mag summer, umaabot ng 40degrees plus. Yun yung aayaw ka na siguro lumabas.

sa dry skin issue, mag body scrub ka siguro once/twice a week tapos layer ka ng body oil and cream. When I first got here, super dry rin skin ko. I use Neutrogena Body Oil then I layer it with Palmer's Cocoa Butter. Ngayon, I just use either one. Sometimes, wala na nga. Sorbolene didn't work for me. Napakawalang kwenta, I thought :P nanghihingi ako ng super thick, super moisturizing cream, yan binigay sakin. Pffttt!

^nope. Hindi sya super init. It was warm lang over the weekend (in adelaide at least, not sure sa sydney). 33 degrees if I remember correctly. Mas mainit pa nga weather sa Pinas kesa ngayon. Right now it's going to be 27 degrees max today.

My definition of super hot kasi is 40-45 degrees and unfortunately, Adelaide does get those days during summer. So I'm still pretty happy with the weather at the moment.
