If I cant afford a designer bag I like, Ill just let it pass rather than settling for a knock off. Ive nothing against people who own replica bags. Kanyang kanyang trip yan  ;D

Just to share my experience. I've been in a place where I really disliked the thought of buying an
obnoxiously expensive designer bag 18-23 years old me. I thought, who the hell would want to spend that much on a bag?!
when i can have tons of bags with that amount.

Then around age 24, given that our business involved custom bags and shoes and repairs, I suddenly start seeing
these obnoxiously priced bags being brought to us for repair. Then i say to myself, "damn these bags look and feel nice

So 24 year old me started browsing and browsing and now i've accomplished a few things etc.
26 year old me decided "hmm.. i think i can do this now, I deserve this now"
And finally I bought my first Balenciaga maroon burgundy Papier mini at the G5 balenciaga store :D

Then, i couldn't help it i was able to get another one through a friend from Singapore. A Balenciaga black highlight mini city
I'm super in love with them! And i don't regret spending some of my savings on them.

Anyway, then i thought I WANT MORE but i'd feel so guilty spending on another bag in those prices.
I just really need this color and style!
So punta ako greenhills tingin tingin ako dun. Pero waley di ko pala kaya after experiencing the real thing.

Grind nalang ulit until such a time that i feel like it's okay to spend again.

But my advise never make the mistake of buying just because you have that amount in your bank account.
Always have enough leeway

I was never a fan of designer bags, now that I can afford them still nanghihinayang ako, I'd rather invest it or buy a watch than a bag. True na kanya kanya talaga trip yan diba. Back then mahilig din naman ako sa bag pero for me it's either I buy the original or buy something unbranded rather than buy a replica hehe kahit sa shoes or anything else.

big no for me ang replica bags. anong sense? alam mo sa sarili mo na fake yung dala mo.
kahit na class AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA pa yan (kasi napapansin ko paramihan na ng A ngayon ang fakes.lol), someone in the know can tell that its not legit.

i'd rather carry a no-label marikina made bag than a knock-off.

i only stick with bags that i can afford. like coach, mk, and even nine west.. keber kung hindi chanel or gucci. at least hindi fake. lol

balenciaga city is my dream bag. its on the lower end of the designer bag spectrum, pero once na magkaron ako nun, i know that i've officially made it. mababaw lang kaligayahan ko. lol

thats just me though. to each his own  ;)

This!

True. I still have my eyes on my "dream" bag and even hubby offered to help me, but still medyo nanghihinayang ako sa amount. Iba rin kasi authentic, matibay and it really lasts. Plus iba kasi yung confidence level knowing you are carrying a branded bag bought in the original store and paid in cash.

Yung Tannery, siguro pupuntahan ko pag may time ako.

i love branded bags. matibay sila and lasts a long time. i only own 1 designer bag which is LV. the rest are just average brands. never ever buy knockoffs. better buy a less expensive bag that you can afford. i do not splurge on designer bags though i know a lot of women does. now kasi i have realized my money's worth kaya i would rather invest it in something else which appreciates in the long run. if i have the extra money i will just save it for now in case for rainy days or buy a nice gold jewelry. to each his own naman talaga.

Few days ago muntikan na ko bumili ng replicas ng Alexander McQueen Insignia Embroidered, Saint Laurent Classic Monogram Shopping Bag, Givenchy Antigona Medium in Grey and Bulgari Serpentine in Green; all one tenth of the retail price of the real ones. They look really authentic maski iyong quality ng metal.

I used to think that I would NEVER buy designer bags. I couldn't understand why anyone would pay a crazy amount for leather. I have admittedly bought designer inspired bags, basically the bag looked exactly like the original without the label. But I never carried them for long and the quality usually only lasted a few wears.

Then I dipped my feet into contemporary brands - then designer brands. It was all downhill from there.

I probably felt that way when I was younger because I could follow the latest clothing trends, not really paying attention to my bags. However, as I got older, I had to start editing my wardrobe and found that I could not keep to the trendy fashion styles as it just looked ridiculous on me. I found that designer bags added a certain polish to my more simple and streamlined outfits.

Quality of designer bags are superb and if you take care of it, it will last a long time. I buy a lot of pre-loved items. One LV bag I have is 18 years old, another is 10 years old and both are in great condition! I have a vintage Chanel that's older than me and it's still gorgeous. It makes me happy when I pull them from the closet and wear them. If ever I did the Marie Kondo decluttering I think I'd be left with wearing a simple shift/tshirt dress and all my bags  ;D

^I like your take on this issue. You are right, the more we age mas nagiging limited na yung style na pwede sa atin. Never pa ako bumili ng designer bags. But I now start looking at more expensive bags. So, I guess one day it's not bad to invest on more durable but expensive bags. I can afford to buy an LV bag if I really want to. Later siguro, yung pinakamura nila muna.

Pero, hindi ako bibili ng replica. No offense sa meron. It's just me.

Forget replicas. Don't support the illegal knockoff trade. Whether it's a designer label or a virtually unknown brand, you're better off with something authentic. Just buy what you can afford.

^^It's probably same quality but it still is a knock off. The name attached to it makes a huge difference regardless of whatever people say. Otherwise, why would these manufacturers copy them? Pwede namang maglabas ng  different brand name but with the same quality.

For me, I won't buy replicas. Kaya IMO, better to buy the original pa rin.
I have recently bought a few vintage designer bags  which are still in good condition). I don't mind using pre-loved as long as alam kong authentic

2 weeks ago my sister and I bought vintage LV Epi's in Osaka. Research ako wanting to know the year they were made, 1996 was the latest. Konting scratch lang, problema sa shoulder laging bumabagsak and a bit musty ang amoy, price reasonable kapresyo ng brand new contemporary. Kung pareho lang naman presyo just go for the pre-loved and the good thing about them the designs are unique or konti lang ang katulad, not the ones you see a lot from the IG stars.

of course mali bumili ng fake coz that's against the law pero nagkalat naman din kasi sa paligid ang fake. tama, kanya-kanyang trip lang yan. and if you're into fake wala naman ding masama. to be honest, only those who owns the real thing will know its fake unless sobrang kitang kita naman na fake yung bag mo. and siguro, nasa nagdadala na lang din yan. if you want to pass it as an original, siguro d naman masama kung mag-aayos ka na mukhang afford mo talaga ang original. hahaha! and ewan ko, para sakin, napaka-superficial lang na just because you own this, mataas na tingin sa sarili. for all we know baka nga may LV sya, utang-utang naman sya, tipid na tipid naman sya sa sweldo nya ma-afford lang. LOL JUDGMENTAL! HAHAHA!

sabagay, financial goal din kasi yan for some na naafford nila yung ganong brand. pero ako siguro, i'll buy luxury brands kapag barya na lang sila para sakin, meaning ganon na ko kayaman! i dont own any fake/replica and i have nothing against it din naman. basta mukhang papasa sayo na original at okay naman yung quality then oks lang. nobody should care unless shareholder ka ng brand na ni-replicate, pero kung advocate ka lang, walang pakielamanan.

i remember owning fake shades na rayban na tig-150 na pagsuot mo, parang di pantay sahig at nakakahilo. hahaha! pero teen years ko pa yun kasi yun lang afford ko. HAHA!

No replica for me neither, I'd rather buy a cheaper brand basta ok and quality and gusto ko talaga than gumamit ng fake/replica. Parang who am I trying to fool, bukod sa pangit naman quality ng replicas in the long run, alam ko sa sarili ko na fake gamit ko. I just don't see the point. Madami naman local brands sa department stores na maayos abang lang ng sale you can get some for almost the same price as the fake ones. ;D)

And yes to pre loved designer bags, instead. Madaming goods na galing Japan na as good as new tapos almost half the price. My cousin bought an LV for only 10k, forgot the model, pero ang ganda!  ;D

Reading the previous posts, can't help but agree haha, Im getting old na talaga. As we age, we'll look ridiculous na with skimpy outfits, colorful skirts and tops, or makisabay sa uso just because, so we try our best to look polished, relevant, "in"and presentable pa din with our bags, shoes, wallets, shades and of course jewelries. Makes sense. Ngayon I'm 30 y/o and I'm already leaning towards getting branded or high end brands na, samantalang noon, tiangge and dept. store girl ako LOL so much for my quantity over quality idealogy.  ;D

Somehow,  when I am able to buy myself these things na galing sa ipon ko and hard earned money, I have this feeling also na parang I've got my sh*t together and can buy what I want, and makes me want to strive and work hard pa.  :)

I would really advice against buying replica bags, it just isn't as sturdy.  You will end up just buying another one, and the class A doesn't come cheap anyway.

I use retail therapy as my way of coping so i do patronize original bags the likes of prada, hermes, LV and the like.  That's just who i am.

:'(I used to but longchamp bags but lately hindi na. And for some people na wala naman idea re original and replica LC bags, pareho na lang siya.  :'(

I'm a bag lover too but I don't buy replicas. I go for branded ones but not the high-end designers because I'm not rich or wealthy. Kung [textspeak!] yung kaya ko dun lang but never will I spend on knock offs. Magmumukha lang akong t**** kung naka-LV or Chanel or Hermes ako tapos mag-jeep, bus or taxi lang ako; that'll make it obvious na fake ang dala ko. But that's my own paniniwala :)
