Authentic VS Replica Bags

Yeah, I've heard of and personally know some well-off women mixing their fakes with their authentic ones. No one really called them out about it because no one assumed they'd buy fakes. Oo nga naman, LOL. Preconception on our part, projection on theirs.

This is not to defend replicas but i have a fake lv bag and it has been with me for 5 years. To cut it short, matibay sya, mas matibay sa local brands like secosana.

Sa ibang bansa, wala silang masyadong pakialam kung orig or not ang ginagamit, ang importante sa kanila, masaya ka sa dinadala mo. In fairness, replica bags nowadays are getting very good. Try to use google and a lot of people from other countries are ordering replica bags from china.

I think most of them (or us) buy replica bags not because of the status symbol (or social climber) pero gusto lang talaga namin yun design. I tried buying designer bags inspired ng secosana pero ambilis masira. Mas matagal pa ang tinagal nun replica bags unfortunately.

Naligaw ako dito sa thread because a couple of colleagues and I recently went to Greenhills with our American boss. He specifically requested that we accompany him there since his wife asked him to buy a quality knockoff purse. Two years ago when he first visited Manila with our other American bosses, they went to Greenhills as well and bought a lot of stuff. And from what he told us, the reactions to the "Hermes" bag he bought previously, no one thought it was a knockoff. He and his wife even entered an Hermes store in Denver and when he found out the original price, he was so shocked (This reaction considering he is a 6-digit US$ earner.), and yes not even the SAs realize the bag they were carrying was fake. I guess that's why he bought 2 more bags when he went back here. Di ko sure kung dahil ba sa puti sila kaya hindi halata ang fake sa kanila or dahil mas confident lang sila magdala. I'm not defending replica bags, for what it's worth, I don't care for high end designer labels. I stick to Kate Spade and D&B for the quality of the bags. I used to not care and just buy Parisian bags pero they break after 3 months or so. But what I learned from this story is not everyone who buys replica are trying hard people who can't afford. I guess they just prefer to spend more on travel than purses

@rhumbafrapp I agree with you masarap pag ipunan yung authentic bag. Iba yung feeling pag nabili mo yung bag goals mo.

With fakes kasi sure mura kung sa mura pero hindi naman super mura na 200 lang mabibili mo na. Some replicas eh kapresyo na ng entry level na LCs.

Sa akin mas ok na konti lang bags ko basta puro authentic and pinag ipunan (at pinaghirapan)

i tend to wait for a 'designer inspired' version of the designs i like to come out. hindi fake, inspired lang, so walang tatak.

for example i really like the mulberry bayswater but i decided not to buy it. nakakita ako locally made bag by a company called OUR TRIBE na similar yung design for 5k+ lang. pure leather din. di kasing ganda ng mulberry yung hardware pero hardwearing din naman. alam mong the proportions are not quite mulberry but the style is very similar. i am still using it for work and ilang years na rin sya.

big no for me ang replica bags. anong sense? alam mo sa sarili mo na fake yung dala mo.
kahit na class AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA pa yan (kasi napapansin ko paramihan na ng A ngayon ang fakes.lol), someone in the know can tell that its not legit.

i'd rather carry a no-label marikina made bag than a knock-off.

i only stick with bags that i can afford. like coach, mk, and even nine west.. keber kung hindi chanel or gucci. at least hindi fake. lol

balenciaga city is my dream bag. its on the lower end of the designer bag spectrum, pero once na magkaron ako nun, i know that i've officially made it. mababaw lang kaligayahan ko. lol

I've seen these before and laughed at it at first because I have Mulberry bags... but I've been told that they're well made and last quite a while.

I'd rather buy well made 'inspired' bags than the fakes.

Parang sa Tannery Manila, some of them look like Celine, theres another that looks like a Proenza Schouler Keepall that I really want.

I personally have a mix of authentic and replica bags. I have 2 authentic mks and 1 replica, of the same design. I have 2 authentic lvs and a couple of replicas, again same design. My reason? Ayoko malaspag at maluma yun authentic bags ko, so ang nilalaspag ko yun replica. I really like the design kasi, para akong in love sa aesthetic design. Pero i go for the high end replica, yun mga 100 to 300 usd, and imported. And i must say i am impressed with the quality of replicas nowadays. Kahit araw araw kong dala at nilalagyan ng mabigat na gamit, hindi bumibigay. Yun replica neverfull bag naging diaper bag and mabigat yun mga asa loob and 2 to 3 years ko ng ginagamit. And i dont care what other people say. In the end, marami ngang nagpapakahirap bumili ng authentic bags kahit ma bankrupt.  Masabi lang na authentic ang dala na. I know my status, and im not insecure.

And for the record, i tried the locally made bags,  marikina bags pero hindi ko gusto. Either nasisira agad or amoy chemical (paint, glue, basta toxic smell). I am very allergic to chemical smell. The replicas i buy smell like the orig, and same material (real cowhide leather)  but of course different workmanship

In the end, its true talaga na, to each his own.

been researching chanel recently and was quite disappointed that they use cardboard and foam to give structure to their bags. i thought for that price, i would expect pure leather. but i guess that's impossible. cardboard and foam are really necessary for structure.

Ayoko din ng fake.

Hindi ko naman pinapansin yung mga taong gumagamit ng fake bags pero sa akin ayoko talagang bumili ng fake bags. Pagka kasi fake bags ang binili ko, kung saan saan ko lang siguro ilalagay kasi alam kong cheap at fake. Parang hindi ko sya iingatan.

want the bag we are all free to look for an alternative like replicas.

but most of replica bags are made in china. do you really want to buy these bags from china and help their economy?
as much as possible i stay away buying their products. even their services like massage or tcm.

i have a hard time differentiating authentic vs replicas because some AAAAs bag are really close to original!
so for my peace of mind i only buy inside their boutique.

Ganun naman talaga kadalasan yung mga can afford, pinagtatawanan yung mga naka-replica.

Ako mismo, di ako bumibili ng replica kasi di din naman pareho quality nun. Kung may mga tatak na di ko talaga kaya gastusan ng ganun, di ko na lang ginugusto haha. Dami dami naman ibang disenyo at mga tatak na ok. Bakit pagpipilitan ang di kaya?

Naglalagay lang ako ng limit na hanggang dito lang yung kaya ko gastusin na hindi masakit sa puso kung madumihan at masira yung bag. Mas madali iletgo hehe
