pa join new mac user here. Got my 13" MB pro 2 weeks ago. Di ko pa masyado naeexplore. Nood nood palang ako. high maintenance for me itong laptop nato. parang ayoko na nga gamitin baka magasgas ko lang. napabili din tuloy ako nung speck na hardcase and a new laptop bag para sa kanya. ang gastos ha. San ba nakakabili ng murang screen protector? Yung nakita ko kasi sa store nila P1,600 parang ang mahal naman kasi.

btw, when i bought my unit sabi nila i can schedule daw for a one on one tutorial. necessary ba yun?

^Schedule in iCal?  When I got my MBA 11 2 weeks ago I just went to the Apple website and clicked on all the tutorials but I'd recommend to start of with the basics esp. if you are switching from Windows. 

I chose not to use any screen or body protectors or shields though because I want to be able to touch and feel my MBA. hehe.  I only have a sleeve and a carry case for it and it rests on a cooling mat whenever I use it.  Also got a portable surge protector.

@shopaholic...it would be  fun experience free naman just go if you're that enthusiastic. yung nag one-on-one sa akin was my brother in law buong gabi nya ako kinuwentuhan about mac...hardcore user kasi sya. so he taught be basics tho yung way of moving around ang dali compared to pc tipong mas intimate ang relationship mo sa mac kesa sa pc.

yung isang tinuro nya sa akin was to check on the dock. if you see the blue light underneath your icons it means the program is in use. so make sure to log out of those programs so your mac won't lag. of course once in a while boot up.

at ang mga passwords and keys tandaan when setting up facetime and other things. sakin nagkabulol bulol eh. ayun pa to add numbers sa facetime nalito rin ako kasiyou have to go to system preferences -->accounts -->contacts.

mga little details lang baka makatulong.

@mooncake lol din naman sya sugatan lang sya yung may battle scar galactica   tapos everynight pinaliliguan ko with lysol wipes or alcohol. gusto ko syang niraragasa adds to the character

@xthine yeah sayang ang mba if you add weight to it with the case masarap to lug around yan and the corners are smooth.

i have the macbook white last oct 2009. tapos the bottom rubber part started peeling off by it self. design flaw ata ito. I had it checked sa apple store and they said i have to pay 4k for the replacement eventhough i know for sure that it's covered by apple care. Buti na lang i was going on vacation to the states. They fixed it for free in apple Pasadena. I'll have the top casing change too kasi its starting to crack (again a design flaw).

ng sisi ako sana bumili nalang ako ng macbook pro. But Im happy they are fixing what needs to be fixed for free- at least here in the US.

hay bakit ang kuripot ng service ng mac sa pinas.

^oh me oh my! goodluck sa mac mo! baka parang yung scare na magrereset lahat ng computers sa yr 2000 ito naman pang NVidia8600. nacurious ako about the processor see if this helps just surfed it up:

I finally called Powermac service center and guess what? Sira nga logic board ko! The girl whom I talked to mentioned yung problem nga daw sa video card and about quality control test na pumasa yung laptop ko so they're waiting for the parts and they'll replace it for FREE. Yahoo!!!

@muahmuahmuah - Exactly.  The Radsleeve fits snugly on my MBA..it was a tight squeeze putting it on. And if I want added protection I could just use my equally small carrying case.. it's so slim other people put the carrying case inside another bag. Hehe.

@xtine yeah i'd be anal about protecting the mba rin, i did that nga rin to my dell na que bigat bigat double bag pa sya, until i got over it and ayun balibag mode.  meron pa nga case na manila envelope, just how it Jobs presented it so funny but cute katakot lang baka ma mail out mo and sarap talaga to bring that around hintayin ko when a 15inch air comes out or maski 17 that would really be worth it.

baka lagay nila yung what they have na na bago!!! pwede ka mag pretend pag tumawag make it a general question and not give your info what video card are they replacing it with if nakita faulty the orig video card. wag mo bigay info mo ha kasi they might change their minds...bwaahahahah joke! ndi yun im sure mas ok or baka nga same ask mo nga nakakacurious rin nga yun. tho depende rin ata kasi sa system ang video card if compatible with the rest of the components.

gusto ko din ng mba talaga, narealize ko mga 2 mins ago. nyaha. pero super happy na ako sa 11inches-the smaller, the better. perfect na yun for me kaso meeehhn, for a netbook, ang mahal talaga. $150 lang budget ko eh.

^^^LOL Baka sabihin, baliw tong girl na to.

Nag-google ako kagabi kung ano ang pinapalit sa faulty video card, walang sinabi basta replacement lang. Naintriga tuloy ako haha Mukhang matatagalan din to maayos kasi nabasa ko while naka-line ako sa service center yung memo nila na parang matagal ngayon sa customs yung paglabas ng mga electronics.

Sis mooncake, matagal mo na yan lemming si MBA ha, give in na! hehe

Nakakaloko husband ko, parang what girls are to makeup, bags, shoes. Anyway he initially wanted an Ipad, but I convinced him to get a Macbook kase small price difference lang. He got it last November. Then on January he said he wanted to get me MBA, ako naman sabe ko why not get a pro, same price lang sila but syempre he’ll get the upgraded one. We were fixed on getting the pro, but he ended getting an air instead, anniv gift daw :p Tapos yesterday he said he really really wants an Ipad2. Ako naman si ms kontra, i told him to get an IP4 instead before his 1stgen ip conks out on him. He agreed.
Tapos last night out of the blue he said, no I really want an Ipad. Haaay I just had to give in, hindi talaga mamatay matay Ipad lemming nya.

I can see the whole page yes, scrolling is painless on my MBA vs. my 3 other Windows notebooks and netbook.

@Kryzteta - lol that's how I am.  My husband's good about it because he knows I work hard for my "toys".  He would gently ask are you sure that's what you want (being my Jiminy  Cricket) etc then he'll say go for it.  Not as bad as I am when he talks about getting those "high end speakers" j/k! Although in the case of buying this MBA when I already have 3 notebooks (which are aged 1,2,3 yrs)  I totally understand where  he's coming from hehe.


How do you back up your Macs?  Do you use a Time Machine or a different brand of external hard drive?

^I use an external HD. Nagsisi ako when I used Time Machine instead of drag drop sa external HD kasi I did a backup tapos nagkamali ako ng pindot. Phoof! Nawala lahat ng backup ko!!! Kaya ngayon drag drop ako. Mas kampante ako sa ganung method haha
