Hi! Im new here. Just want to share my experience on breast cancer detection. Im 33 and recently found with breast cancer.

Mine started as a lump that I felt on the left breast Apr this year. It did not cause any concern on my part because the lump is moveable. But then I had menstrution 2 wks after my recent one. I went to an OB and she sent me for TransVi Ultrasound. I also asked for my breast to be checked so I also had breast ultrasound. I was found with a breast nodule with clearly defined edges and was said to be benign (it was in the ultrasound results). No problem with ovaries. So I let it go... Benign daw eh. Even our company doc said, moveable naman so nothing to worry about.

Come August, parang lumaki yung lump. There's also some stabbing pain ( like kirot) and itchiness on the lump area. I then went to a breast surgeon at TMC. Kapa-kapa and the usual checking, fibroadenoma daw. She recommend na tanggalin kasi lumalaki daw yun. So I undergone mammotome excision. Im not really worried kasi everyone thought it's benign.... But then the biopsy came. Ayun! Malignant pala ang cells.

I just had my surgery. Im still waiting for my receptor results to determine the proper chemo regimen. Im still lucky kasi the cancer is at its early stage. Its a good thing that Im brave enough and persistent enough kasi if hindi, it could be too late na. Im too young to get this cancer, if I didnt had the nodule removal baka pag nadiagnose ang cancer ko eh stage 4 na. It pays to be makulit an unsettling sometimes. 

I am sharing this because I want everyone to be cautious. Mataas ang breast cancer hit sa Philippines. I suggest women should do their monthly breast self-exam. Big help 'to para mapansin mo if may nagbago.

hello po doc she.. sabi po kasi ng surgeon ko po na no need na daw po ako i OR po pag tinggal daw po nya yung mass po sa breast ko po..kahit daw po sa clinic daw po nia pwede na daw po nya gawin yun.. ganun pu ba talaga?hindi pa po ako nakakapg pa ultasound by thursday pa ako inischedule po.. pero inischedule nya pu ako ng surgery by monday na. pero hindi pa pu final yan.kasi iniisip ko po kung ok lang ba talaga na ganun ang set up. lalaki daw po yun kapag pinatagal ko pa. kahit na hindi pa nya alam result ng ultra sound ko po.. advice po.thanks

Hi! That's true! However, the most common breast masses are still the benign ones. Best still to have a thorough physical examination coupled with the right diagnostic exams. Family history is also very important. Mammotome, is vacuum assisted breast biopsy technique where in you put a small incision on the area of the breast enough to insert the probe and breast masses up to 3cm can be remove entirely. I also do that procedure but only if it's indicated.

bigla naman ako natakot. mali pala yung post ko nung una, 1999 pala namatay mama ko, she was just 38 then. yung kanya kasi pinabayaan daw. i have my period now kaya may nakakapa akong something. kapag natapos n ko, papatingin ako mahirap na.

Jenn- by your ultrasound report, it seem harmless and surgery may not be indicated at this time. However, I don't usually rely on the report itself unless I see the picture of the ultrasound myself. Hard really to comment on your findings without examining you also. Are you affiliated with any health card?

^Hi docshe, is it really necessary to do the test 5days after your period? what if almost everyday na may sumasakit?  Im feeling some pain right now sa left breast ko, i went to the OB and she told me na better daw na bumalik ako after 5days ng mens ko.. nasayang tuloy bayad ko for consultation

Marssie- best time to do breast exam or any diagnostic test like ultrasound or mammogram is 7-10 days from day 1 of menses. That is when the breast is less swollen and doing the exam will be more comfortable and results more accurate. Was any ultrasound or mammogram requested? And just want to clarify, breast and it's diseases belongs to the Surgeon's field. Hope you understand.

i found a breast mass 5days before my 18th birthday (im now 20) then i went to the doctor that day, it made me nervous xempre hehe. i went alone since im living alone.

then they told me it fibroadenoma, then when i also got my 2nd opinion i also got fibroadenoma

then my doctor schedule me for operation on my exact 18th bday (wow! what a suprise HAHAHA)
then the operation last on hour kc malalin [textspeak!] mass ko , ngulat cla kc mdjo malaki n dwa [textspeak!] mass, but still i have no worries

as of now i got 3 minor operations first in mandaluyong hospital, my 2nd operation is like an anniversary. HAHAH BIRHTDAY ko nnmn ako naoperahan, at mandaluyong hospital.
then my third one is nung MAY lang at PGH.

well i recomend PGH hehe khit public at madaming tao, tsaga lang mga sis.

i am surprised nga kc [textspeak!] doctor n nag perform ng surgery skin eh isang expert sa plastic surgery, im so suprised na [textspeak!] tahi wound ko hndi mxdong obvious at super ganda ng tahi hehe.

Karizza- just want to inform you that not all breast masses need surgery unless there are signs that it is indicated.

docShe - [textspeak!] [textspeak!] pa po ba yung ibang ways para matanggap [textspeak!] breast mass. kasi po nung unang beses ako nag karoon nun [textspeak!] nung surgeon for minor operation daw ako, kahit nung nasa PGH ako, ganun din kahit mga kasama kong ibang girls for minor operation kameng lahat.

Karizza- I think it's about time you find yourself a new doctor. Remember, A good Surgeon is someone who knows when not to operate. I don't want you undergoing the knife if it's not indicated. Always put this in your mind, as Long as we have our breast, we always have the risk of developing breast masses and proper monitoring is the key.

Thanks Doc, the OB told me na magrerequest ng ultrasound pagbalik ko nalang daw.. Was just really worried kasi ilang days na may nararamdaman akong kirot and parang i can't wait na for the next visit to have that ultrasound.. but anyway, thanks for the advice Doc She

Marge- check up with a Surgeon is the key to your problem.

how often ba dapat nag papa breast ultrasound ang isang babae....regular check up?

Prettybarbie- check up at least once a year but if with findings,  breast ultrasound may be done every 3-6 months and check up is as follows.

doc she, my last period started on the 12th of this month and ended on the 18th. is it still okay if i visit you on friday? how much is the breast ultrasound in clinica manila? tia!
