Kathmandu Nepal anyone?

How exactly does on go around in Nepal?  I mean, could you rent taxis or private vehicles?

Mr.Punch we took the taxi when we were there. one time pa nga we took the public bus. adventurous lang kami.

I want to stay for a week in Buddhist monastery. Meditation, trekking and just basically getting lost. Is it safe for solo traveling? I wanna experience the Nepali life sana.

Going there on November 23-30, 2014 via KL  

Eagerly monitoring seat sales.  As of now, we've just purchased 1-way tickets to KL.  3 more steps to go!

We'll be going June 4 via KL din. Nepal-India for sure. If kaya ng time, we'll include Bhutan or Tibet.

Booked a cheap KL flight and hoping to go to Kathmandu as well. I mistakenly picked a rainy month though (August)

Is the Kathmandu Valley (e.g Chitwan, Bhaktapur, Patan) doable without booking with a tour company?

lavieenrose We went to Bhaktapur by ourselves taking public bus (or maybe taxi going there can't remember but definitely bus going home) pero my hubby is quite adventurous! kung ako lang taxi or tour operators. We went to different temples din (one with loads of monkeys) lahat DIY kami.  We only booked a tour operator para dun sa Mt. Everest flight. Mababait naman tao sa Kathmandu pero syempre maingat din kami.

We went July, I think rainy season din ito, thank God hindi naman umulan.

^ Thank you for the feedback, shegie_285- so a DIY trip is possible after all. Also planning to do the 1-hour flight over the himalayas, hopefully our trip pushes through and there will be good visibility

my friends and i are planning to go to nepal and pokhara. any recommendations on places to eat? ok lang na medyo pricey as long as it's good and, more importantly, clean

laviere I couldn't remember na the names of the restaurants but ask the hotel na lang when you get there. actually kami we asked mga  kung sinu-sinong tao, pag bumibili kami ng mga souvenirs nagtatanong din kami sa mga locals. there was one restaurant that they all recommended so pumunta din kami dun.

I find Nepal clean naman, we came from India that trip so we thought Nepal was a very nice change. ang dami din nilang option for food, I remember I ate ramen pa in a Japanese restaurant kase at that stage sawa na kami sa curries dahil 1 week na kami sa India.

Mr. Punch, two months na lang at nasa Nepal na tayo! Yey dami natin, 16 di ba?

Anyway, just found out that in Nepal, electricity shuts off for several hours. They call it "load shedding." So if fall or winter kayo pupunta (like I will), make sure to bring enough winter clothing to sustain you through the heater-less nights!

^ When we were there, the electricity goes of for a few hours twice a day. It really threw us off, but most places/hotels still had wi-fi during this time. One of our B&Bs was so thoughtful and left 1 power socket working. One thing we learned is to plan our activities around the load shedding schedule, bathing in very cold water was haaard.

may nakatry na ba magcross ng india to nepal .. how is the multiple visa ? kase single entry lang un india ..

^ I crossed India to Nepal (land travel) in 2010.  My Indian visa was double entry, I specified in my application form na I need double entry dahil we flew back to India for our flight home.

Ay sis hindi ako visa on arrival. Hindi pa applicable sa pinas nung pumunta ako. I applied before travel. The TVOA i read single entry,  you probably should apply for a double-entry visa before traveling dahil i read kung TVOA dapat may two month gap between visits.

First step completed for our Nepal trip next year October. Was able to book MNL - KL thru Airasia. May seatsale sila ngayon, 5K lang for two persons all in RT
