Anyone here tried Singapore-Malaysia by bus/train?

Hi! I would just like to ask something. I'm gonna be in Singapore for 4 whole days. I want to spend my 4th day in Malaysia (KL). Basically I want to leave SG at around 7AM then be back by around 10PM. I heard its a 4-5 hour travel. What do I need to prepare? My passport and what else? Around how much do you think I would spend on basic things like transpo (from and to SG), lunch and dinner? Do you suggest me to take the train or the bus? Thanks.

Taking the bus is faster. You have two options: take the bus from SG that leaves at 10pm and arrives in KL at 4am or take the public bus to Johor Bahru's Larkin bus terminal then take a bus to KL from there. The second option is much cheaper.

You need to bring your passport and ticket back to the Philippines, in case the immigration asks for it.

Depending on where you're staying in Singapore, the fare to Johor can be as low as SG$1.70. Buses from Johor to KL starts at RM 24. If you're taking the direct bus from Singapore to KL, bus fares starts at SG$26 ata.

Food expenses also varies on where you eat. Eating at hawker places would be around RM 7 - 10 per meal.

we did this two years ago, but malaysia-sg naman. train. i think 8 hours yung trip.  they sell food on the train but since we had a heavy breakfast we didn't bother to buy. we brought snacks on the train, too.

SG-KL usually takes 5-6hrs by bus. 
5hrs swerte ka na nyan, malas mo pag may traffic pa papasok ng KL proper.

If you leave SG at 7am you will arrive in KL around 12-1pm
Then if you need to be back by 10pm, you need to leave KL at around 3-4pm.
Konti lang ang oras mo umikot.

^I'm planning to go on a day trip lang talaga.. and alone.  siguro I could sleep at the bus then wake up at around 6 AM in KL? haha... do you think its safe naman?

base on my experience, 5 hours yung byahe SG to KL via StarMart Express bus.. dun ako kumuha ng ticket sa may golden mile complex sa may beach road.. dun din yung terminal nila sa sg..
umalis ako ng SG nun 9am then 2pm nasa KL na ako..
60sgd lang yung 2way bus ticket..
passport lang need for sg/kl immig.. and dalhin mo na din return ticket mo goin to pinas kasi mahigpit ang sg immig baka di ka papasukin ulet sa sg pag wala kang proof na uuwe ka rin ng pinas.. baka kasi isipin nila na nag-exit ka lang sa malaysia para mabigyan ka ulet ng 30 days stay to sg.

super mura ng mga bilihin sa malaysia compare to singapore.
pero ingat ka dun kasi hindi sya ganun ka-safe like sg.

try aeroline sis.. sa vivo city kame nakakuha ng ticket, ok din naman. comfy at me food on board, meal + snacks, they will assist you din sa immigration (sila na yung pumipila) kaya sulit din bayad HTH

we took the overnight train going to malaysia. okay naman kaso hindi kami nagising when we needed to have our passport stamped going to malaysia. di kasi helpful yung konduktor. dumating kami ng mga 6am sa KLCC. Going back to sg, we took aeroline bus which was very comfortable. Imagine a bus na feeling airplane service. Anyways, since yung konduktor ang nagaassist sa immigration going back to sg, napatawad ng sg immigration ang aming "di pagpapatatak" going into Malaysia.

Meron din pala overnight train aside sa bus. Bus kasi plan ko pero I like to try the train din for experience lang. Bale papunta train then pabalik bus or vice versa.

Questions - San sa SG and KL yung sa station ng train? safe ba? i mean yung mga nakasakay are mostly tourists din?

laki din pala matitipid kung SG- Johor-KL rather than straight SG-KL, kaya pala eto madalas kong nababasa sa pinoysg.
Safe ba to kung night travel? siyempre magttransfer pa ng bus, i mean dun kaya sa babaan ko sa Johor eh nandun na din yung sasakyan ko going yo KL?

as far as i remember, parang dun kami bumili ng tiket ng mga bus going to genting sa central station sa KL. sa may second floor. tapos we waited for the bus sa may likod, then travel to genting na!

We also did SG-KL-SG nung 2008. Nag Aeroline kami, yung midnight ang alis sa SG. I think the fare was SGD 35 per way. May meals on board and the seats parang La-Z Boy kaya nakatulog naman kami.

I wanted that sana kaso I noticed na walang midnight...8PM na ang latest na alis niya sa SG... gusto ko nga sana yun para maaga dating ko sa KL...kaso wala naman sa net yung ganung sched...anyway for those who have been to KL, if you only have lets say 6 hours, what are the must-do things you would recommend aside from petronas? i prefer free or cheap activities sana...i'm only after sa tatak sa passport lol. thanks

Hi! I also wanna ask...if I go to Malaysia from SG, would I need a visa? Where do I get it? Does anyone know how far is the Corus Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to the Petronas? Like is it a walking distance? What other things do you suggest I can visit in 5 hours? haha...
