i admire those couples who are capable to bear a child but really decided not to have a one. meron din kase sinasabi lang nila they dont want to have a child pero di naman pala talaga pwede kahit gustuhin nila. mas ok naman kase talaga na honest kayo sa sarili nyo at sa tao. kung di nila matanggap yun, bahala na sila.

kame kase we decided not to have a baby for the first few months of our marriage lang, pero grabe na yung reaction ng mga tao. lalo na nung nalaman nila that i was using contraceptives nung bagong kasal palang kame. what more kung for life na decision pa? almost lahat ng kakilala kong copule na walang anak, not by choice eh. yung prof ko lang nunng college ang kakilala kong capable but decided not to have a child, ayun sobrang successful naman ng career nilang mag-asawa.

the thing that I don't really understand, when you tell people that you don't have plans of having a child, their first reaction was "bakit ka pa nagpakasal if you have no plans of having a child?" yun ba talaga reason for getting married? to have a child? kasi when I say that we got married because we want to spend the rest of our lives together, not to have a child, parang alien (or maybe lunatic?) tingin nila sa 'kin.  kaya ngayon, I just say "ganun eh".

^I don't get it also why our society slightly condemns couples who are childless by choice. siguro dahil ito sa religious roots natin, with that "go forth and multiply" line na sinasabi during wedding.I think that God likes it when we plan for ourselves, but He still has the last say on our plans, which includes the interest in having children.I believe that as long as He is the center of a relationship, kahit walang anak ay tatagal ang pagsasama.

Let us just respect other people's choice or the kind of life they have. I know GOD has other plans for them lalo na sa couple na hindi talaga binigyan ng baby. Who are we to question din naman God's plans for them diba :)

I also admire people na open minded sa ganitong bagay :)

buhay pa tong thread! :)

i've been married for a year and yes, we're still childless. i think down the line, i'm open to kids but we don't think about it now, and we also don't care if we never get pregnant. most of the people from my side of the family are ok with that. they acknowlege that we need to take time to warm up to parenthood. anyway, what makes me sad is my hubby's family is going through a baby boom. his sister is pregnant, 3 cousins are pregnant and one just gave birth. we went to a family gathering a couple of weeks ago. you know how some boys are so crass? well, this one takes the cake because in a booming voice, hubby's cousin goes "bakit wala pa kayong anak? baog yata kayo!" of course, it was meant to be a joke but ohmygod, the embarassment of my husband. it is truly exasperating to deal with people like that. i'm so glad that this thread is still alive!

Though, I find it very good to always reply na "We're enjoying each other's company pa!" e di mamatay naman sila sa inggit at sweet pa kami ni hubby, hehe...

I'm seriously contemplating not to have kids when I get married but I know that's not going to happen because my fiance loves to have kids.

Oh well, I'm still hoping he'd change his mind. Miracles do happen everyday, right? =)

when hubby and i got married, we talked about having (or not having) kids. agree kame na kahit di kami magkaanak in the future e gusto naming magpakasal. i don't mind having one, two, three kids--or none. i can relate dun sa mga naka-experience na nasabihan ng "bat wala pa kayong anak?" tapos ngayon "bakit di nyo sundan?" (we have a baby now).

Me too, I want to remain childless. They don't find their attitude rude but think about it.

My husband and I were like this at first kaya lang having kids kind of creeped up on us to the point that this was the only thing in our minds every single day. It drove us crazy.

At first I thought I didn't want to have kids, but I guess when I was faced with certain situations my view on that matter started to change.

I have a friend who chose not to have a child. I asked her 'why?' sagot nya, hindi nya financially afford ang magpalaki ng bata. honestly, when she said that nainis ako sa kanya ng bongga. kesyo mahal daw magpalaki ng bata rah rah rah .. pero ang mga collection ng LV - Chanel - Burberry - Hermes nag uumapaw. i know it's none of my business, pero yung sagot nya sablay naman ata.  ::)

Bakit naman sabay? Who says that having children is better than acquiring designer bags? Kanya-kanyang priorities lang yan. I guess you just have to respect her decision.

^ I agree. To each her own. IMO it's more expensive to raise a child than to buy designer bags. And it's a lifelong commitment. She may afford raising a child today but maybe she's not sure if she can afford it for life.

Ang pag papa aral naman dito kayang kaya nya yun most of the time free pa nga. Parehas maganda trabaho nila. May isinagot pa sya sa akin non, stressful daw ang mga bata at saka hindi daw sya mahilig sa bata which is hindi ko rin naintindihan lol ! ;D Feeling ko kasi may mas malalim pa syang dahilan ayaw lang nya magsabi.  IMO.
