Hi everyone, question lang regarding cat litters..may suggested ba kaung brand ng cat litter? And where can I buy it plus mga magkano?

mga sis, kindly recommend naman brands ng mga wet food. yung persian kasi namin ayaw kumain ng dry food, parang di niya gusto amoy kasi tinatabunan niya. so puro wet food lang kinakain niya, we tried whiskas, RC, fancy feast and recently, meow mix. sometimes, pinapakain namin siya ng table food, pag gusto niya yung ulam. para maiba naman

pero sobrang picky at ang dali din niyang magsawa sa pagkain. ayaw na niya ng ibang flavors ng whiskas and fancy feast. worry ko baka pag tagal, ayawan na din iya yung RC and meow mix. kaya naghahanap na kami ngayon ng ibang brands. pati kung san meron, preferrably near alabang o kaya online pwede din.

It's always good to read the ingredients and try to avoid food that does not adequately provide the nutrition our pets need. 

Unfortunately I've heard not so good things about several store brands eg. Iams, Eukanuba, Purina, Royal Canin, Science Diet, Meow Mix, Whiskas, Friskies.  We've switched our cats from the store brand wet food to Natural Balance and Weruva and we've had good results.  Their poop is not as smelly and they don't poop as much plus they love eating it esp. The Weruva.  They didn't like Merrrick gourmet wet food, we've tried different varieties.

We're just finishing off the Natural Balance Chicken and Chicken Liver pâté and after that we are switching to just Weruva for wet food.  It's natural, grain free and BPA free.

This is a cute thread! I have dogs and cats. My youngest cat used to be very masungit to humans. She really avoided humans as much as she could. But then I started feeding her myself (the maid used to do it) and I started petting her even if she didn't want me to. In just a few hours, she became the most malambing kitty ever! I think she misses her mom. Her mom is pregnant kasi and doesn't pay attention to her anymore.

Currently experimenting on making the best litter box for my cats. Got lots of helpful tips from this thread

Sisses do you know what to feed cats para di ganun ka-appealing yung poop nila sa dogs? Hahaha our dog goes ga** over our cat's poop She cleans it up before we can. Huhu.

We had the same problem with our dog getting into the litter box and eating poop.  We use a top entry litter box now and she's not able to get into that.  Our front entry litter box we keep in a room with a mini pet gate that our cats could jump over and our dog can't.   That's solved the problem..or at least it's a good work around.

there are two unrelated kittens outside our house around 3mos old, one bicolor and one tabby. ang cute nila, magka-age sila pero di sila magkaano-ano tapos silang dalawa lang magkasama. ilang weeks na silang andun, no mommies. i cant bring them in kasi very aggressive yung isa naming Siamese cat, baka masaktan lang, and di ko din kasi sure if may nag-aalaga sa kanila na older cat or may mommy-cat na nagnnurse sa kanila pag gabi. i just give them bowls of milk and some Whiskas dry. kaso lang minsan may mga older cats na ninanakaw yung food nila. i saw the bowl malayo na kaninang afternoon, pero yung dalawa andun pa rin sa spot nila (elevated and covered area sa labas ng house). ayoko din kasi silang ikulong..

sana andun pa sila pagbalik ko on tuesday. i want them to grow up healthy man lang bago sila mag-gala sa mundo. medyo wobbly pa kasi sila pero ang kyut kyut talaga, for some reason malinis sila, very fluffy. i tried petting them kanina habang tulog.

our cats love Meow Mix and Friskies, ayaw na ayaw nila ng IAMS and Whiskas kaya binigay ko nalang sa strays. sa wet food, si Persian lang may gusto. Fancy Feast ang favorite nya.

How long does a 30lb bag of litter last? How often do you change kitty litter sa litter box?

We use Precious Cat clumping litter and they both have a litterbox that's scooped everyday (scoop and add litter).  I use a litterbox liner for the Clevercat box and replace litter completely every 3-4 weeks, wash the box in hot water and mild detergent the same time.   A 40lb bag lasts about 3-4 weeks.

We've noticed that since changing their food their poop is not as stinky and they don't poop as much.  We used Tidy Cats with Power blend before and I didn't realize how bad it was until we switched to Precious Cat.

From the Precious Cat website:

"A frequent question that we often get asked is – How often do I totally dump and change my cat litter?

We recommend totally changing the litter out in the cat box every three to four weeks depending on use. Wash your cat boxes with hot water and a mild detergent like Ivory dish soap and then replace with about 3 inches of new litter. Even though our clumping clay litters do clump extremely hard and you are able to remove the clump as a whole there may still be little pieces of litter that may break off of the clump or little pieces of feces that may not totally be removed from the box. Therefore, it is a good idea to change the litter out totally every three to four weeks."

Our cat does his thing kasi sa CR namin so we really can't monitor pag gabi at tulog na kami lahat. Last time, we suspect our dog is cleaning up our cat's mess kasi one week na kaming hindi nakaka kita ng cat poop.  It's efficient dahil di na namin kailangan maglinis pero gross talaga hahaha

^ what kind of vitamins ba? our cats used to take vitamins na parang cream-type in a tube. they disliked the taste so what i did was to coat it in cheese spread and they ate it eagerly, as per the vet's advice. for the capsule types, just cut it so the juice comes out then mix it with wet cat food.

syrup sis yung sakin eh cherifer... So i use dropper kaso mag bbubble mouth sila... I have 2 female kitties... One is persian and the other one is bengal... Kawawa sila parang feeling nila nalalason hehe... Siguro ill try nalang that gel type na pang cats talaga... Sis i also want them to become chubby parang hindi nila type ang royal canin... What brand po yung food ng cat mo sis? Nabasa ko dito gusto karamihan ng cats nila princess i know that brand ok ba siya talaga?

Try Nutrigel. My cats love it. There's no need to force them, they just lick it

Finally, may nakasundo ng dry food pusa namin. She's eating Orijen, pero we still mix it with RC wet food. Ang gastos pag puro wet food and lagi pang walang stock sa Animal House lately.

@preciosa, I bought Nutrigel for P450. Depende kung gaano kadami mo ibigay pero aabot naman ng 1 month.

@Pink_Sugar, yes its better na sa box manganak yung cat mo tapos lagyan mo ng takip. Mas gusto nila yung parang naktago sila

For those looking for kitty litter, you can check out the ones being sold at S&R. They come in 30lb green containers. They're organic, clumping and lightly scented. Right now they're on sale for Php549.00 from Php699.00 kaya nag-hoard na ako. I have 15 cats kaya I always keep a lot of kitty litter stock. Mahirap na ang maubusan.

For dry cat food, I get my RC 10 kg indoor 27 cat food (Php2,890) from Doggie Land in Mandaluyong. They deliver it to my house in Paranaque for free since I always order a minimum of 3 bags per delivery. Yung 3 bags is good for 2-3 months. Yup, ganun katakaw mga babies ko!

For wet cat food, I buy the 48 can (assorted flavors) package of Friskies. I get these in the states at Costco and have them shipped via balikbayan boxes. One balikbayan box can accommodate 5-6 packs of Friskies or 240-288 cans which is good for a 3 month supply. I usually ship out 2-3 boxes for a year's supply. Even with shipping costs mas mura pa rin lumalabas compared to buying locally. Doble ang presyo sa S&R or other pet supply stores!

For their vitamins and supplements, hindi sila masyadong magastos or maalaga since they are all rescue cats or puskals. What I do though is mix fish oil capsules (prick it to get the oil lang) with their breakfast. I give them wet and dry in the morning. I just mix the canned food with their pellets and add a bit of water then add the oil. Through out the day, dry food na lang sila. Then paminsan-minsan I give them Ceelin for their vit. C supplement.

Ang medyo magastos are their annual shots buti na lang once a year lang binibigay ito. Plus I also administer either Frontline or Revolution for anti-flea at least every quarter. Magastos but worth it all
