Imma start
Best:
Memoirs of a Geisha.
There were several scenes deleted and changed but it was tolerable. The transition, to me, was very faithful to the book. The imagery were all there and the minor alterations were tolerable. I also liked the ending better than the book because here, it ended at the part where Sayuri and the Chairman finally ends up together. (SPOILER AHEAD) in the book, the story continues til they both moved to New York. while in both versions Sayuri and the Chairman lives happily ever after, the movie version ends it at the height of the happily ever after where Sayuri and the Chairman hugs under Cherry Bossoms. In the book however, it gives off a somewhat melancholic vibe towards the end. (trying hard not to give spoilers for the book. END OF SPOILER)
So far, this is the only book-to-movie version i've enjoyed and liked.
so-so:
Twilight saga - the movie interpretation's okay, i guess, but i've never been a fan of the saga. i've read the first book before the movie came out but i never finished reading the first book until i've seen the movie. i went on reading the next books. i like it, but i'm just not a fan girl. sorry.
of course there's the harry potter films. but after being sorely disappointed with the first movie, i've stopped expecting anything from it. or rather, i've expected to hate the movie before i even see it, and i've always been proven right. lol. sorry, certified fan girl here. WB has its last chance to prove itself to me with HP's last movie installation. but cutting the book in half, i can already feel hating it. Rupert Grint is always fun to watch tho.

the ones i truly hate:
confessions of a shopaholic.
the actress failed to give the character depth. she just looked like a twat armed with plastic cards. at least the book character somehow, was somebody you could relate to at one point or another.
another book to movie i hated was the angels and demons. i was so expecting a lot from angels and demons since i loved that book better than the da vinci codes but...
1. Tom Hanks was soo off playing robert langdon. i simply could not see him for the part. Langdon was described to have "good looks and a boyish charm" which made him one of the most crushable professors right? that was the description. in fact, he was even described as having a swimmers body.. much as i respect tom hanks as an actor, he just cannot pull off "boyish charm" let alone a swimmers body.
2. i cannot - for the life of me - understand why the name of the camerlengo, carlos ventresca had to be changed to something else, i would understand cutting a few scenes due to budget and time constraints,, but changing a name?! i dont get it at all! it doesnt cost more to stick to the original name and i cannot see how changing the name would cut through time constraints. seems little but it's a big deal for me. kinda annoying too!
3. one scene i was completely looking forward to was the scene where the Camerlengo addressed the whole world thru an interview with the college of cardinals behind him. the visual alone would've been breath-taking. coupled with the speech the camerlengo made, not only would it have been such a powerful scene, it would be a magnificent thing to watch. the fact that they did not include this scene in the movie really disappointed me.
