I hope somebody will post their feedbacks about St. Theresa's College in QC. Husband said that if we're going to enroll our daughter in an all girls school, it should be in STC.

We wanted Poveda sana but I have to admit that their tuition fee is way beyond to our budget.

same here...hingi din po ako feedback sa STC and Siena...We're torn kase between STC-QC and Siena College, QC para sa daughter ko who'll be attending kinder this coming school year na...so far, ok na for reservation daughter ko sa Siena while for interview naman s'ya at the end of the month sa STC...thanks in advance sa mga sasagot...

Hi sisses, what big schools can you recommend near marcos hi-way?my son will be 5 before june and balak ko na kasi siya ilipat next year sa big school. first choice ko talaga eh LSGH kaso hindi ko talaga afford eh. so sa ngayon san beda rizal pa lang na check ko. ok naman na sana kaso lang mejo mahirap puntahan lalo wala akong car. help naman pls.tnx!

Im from Cainta and have seen San Beda, though the facility is really good, I get more not too good feedbacks than good ones.

^I have friends who moved out their kids from Beda, either move them to smaller schools or other big schools like AA or Lourdes Manda. I am not definite with what in particular they like.  Most of them mentioned they were not satisfied with the academic content, the extra curricular activities and the approach.

Ive been to the school, really good facilities.  You see what you are paying for.  Though I would not want to put my young preschool son there as it is so far out, in the middle of Highlands point.  No nearby houses.  If not a car, you need a tricyle to get in! 

It depends on what you really want and prioritize.  Ask around too.

@Queen DC, my inaanak is from San Beda Rizal and his parents want to transfer him to a progressive school.  Their son gets bored daw with the lessons because he is a fast learner and the teachers are not offering him alternatives to keep him interested.  That often happens in traditional schools where it's the teacher that controls the pace of the lessons.  That's the feedback I got from the school, in so far as my inaanak is concerned.

^ Hi marose, almost all that I know who put their kids in San Beda ng Prep, they moved them after a yr or two.  They were not satisfied.

I gave a talk for the HS students there - 1st & 2nd.  What I noticed when I asked questions was that they had a hard time responding to me.  My questions are "why did you do that? "what would you do"... process questioning and more about the SELF.  it was almost a 2 hr talk!  maraming humihirit and side comment during the whoel session.  Pag nag spot question na ko, as in only a trickle of students would raise their hand.  Yung mga tinatanong ko on the spot, they barely answer!

In my observation, it may be due that they are shy, the students there are Tagalog speakers, they may not know the answer, possible that the clientele is more passive due to provincial, or they seem to lack INSIGHT! 

For me, it's important that the school would develop both the WHAT's and the WHYs!  At HS, they are expected to answer the Whats and the WHYS.  That speaks about how the critical thinking and the resoning ability of the students are developed!

ive also heard some discouragements about san beda... one thing i know tho', ang taas ng teacher turnover nila... since i am also involved in manpower pooling for abroad, i get a lot of applicants from san beda... when asked why they want to work abroad than stay in a good school like san beda, the common answer is 'i'm not happy'...

if the teachers are unhappy, i wonder how the students feel...

naku!talaga? hmmm..kaya po naman ilipat anak ko kasi parang sinosobra naman ng advance ng school nya ngayon. magffive pa lang this may. eh pinagskip na nga siya ng nursery kasi advanced na daw. eh nung december sinabi sa kin eh possible daw na ipagraduate na cya ng preschool by march kasi binibigyan na din siya ng advanced lessons kasi kaya daw. eh ayaw ko naman ng sobra kasi gusto ko din naman makakapag enjoy baby ko habang school kasi mahilig din siya sa sports and music. maganda kung balanced yung acads and extra curricular. i know kasi how it feels kung puro acads na lang eh. 

Sis, if the school keeps accelerating your child, it means that they are only after the child's mental development.  Its convenient for them to accelerate than to address your child's advanced needs.  If you dont put your child along with the age mates, at this early stage, later pag nag big school/ grade school and the subjects are complex and novel to your child, most likely that the child would reach his maximum learning curve... and he would be like the normal learners.  I had cases of accelerated kids, often times their emotional development lag behind and they just become mediocre among the grade level; they were not able to bloom!  exception to the case of maximizing intellectetual development if your child is assessed at potentially gifted!  but at preschool, its too soon to tell.  consider this in looking for a school, another progressive or non-traditional preschool might be appropriate for your child.  have you heard of kids international learning academy in village east, look into their system.

I agree with ichelie regarding accelerating preschool students.  It should be done with the best interest of the child in mind.  The child may be intellectually advanced, but not necessarily emotionally ready.  My inaanak was sort of accelerated by San Beda and skipped prep (or its counterpart) kasi nga advanced daw.  So he was already in grade 1 by the time he was 6 years old pa lang (his birthday kasi falls on January).  That's one of the reasons why my kumare chose SB over Ateneo.  Sa Ateneo kasi, eligible siya for prep pa lang that time.

But then again, I also thought that perhaps, he is not yet emotionally ready since he started grade school a bit soon.  Ang assessment ko kasi sa kanya medyo introverted.  I'm not an expert or anything but I feel that his emotional preparedness could be a factor why he's bored/unhappy in school.

^ Thanks marose, it is possible factor if the child is unhappy in school is not ready emotionally, considering his introvert nature. 

Accelerating may adress mental development.  But it also means that the child skipped one imporant chronological phase - one stage in preschool.  though he may be smart, but the golden time for the child to develop his motor skills, interpersonal skills, social skills, self-confidence, competence and independence were ommited.  these are non academic skills.  but these are Life Skills needed for the child to be well adjusted in later stages. It may be said that these are also developed at a later level, but the expectations set on the child are higher than that if he is with age mates.

This is one factor that I very well consider in choosing a school for my child. Base on my own belief, and my observation from my stduents.  It really depends on what is important for us.  It may be different for others, though.

any feedback on Golden Values School in Paranaque? Are they "strict" academically? yng need makakuha ng certain average/grade sa card or else kick out sa school ? I like it na they instill attitudes and values as well as academics... may iba [textspeak!] na more on academics e.. any feedbacks? TIA

Hi mommies! I hope you can help me choose a school for my kids next school year...

I have twin girls, they're both in prep this school year. My older kid was diagnosed with Autism when she was 3 years old, though her developmental pedia did not recommend SPED and encouraged me to continue with regular school since she knows all her letters, numbers, colors and stuff, and she can read too. Basically, her major problem is with her socialization skills. For next school year, her developmental pedia told me she would have to assess her this coming March to decide whether she can cope with being a regular Grade 1 student or if she has to attend SPED.

As much as possible sana, I want them both to be in the same school. Can you give a list of good schools within Valenzuela, Caloocan or Quezon City areas which offers a good elementary curriculum and at the same time also offers a good SPED program?

^sis, try maria montessori in mindanao ave.  heard they are one school with authentic montessori approach. 
another point is that, you might want to consider putting your daughters in different schools meanwhile while the other one needs to develop more.  putting them in the same school might pose concerns such as being compared and being dependent with the other.  on this stage that your other daughter has concerns that needs to be addressed and both are in the stage of building their skills and self-esteem, it might help if they have different environment that may suit their needs.  just a thought.
