^ tama ka sis... ako kasi, laging jurassic phone ang gamit ko dati, ang iniisip ko noon is that basta may pang text at pang tawag pwede na... but just last week my husband gave me his iphone 3Gs... kasi may 4s na sya... very good condition pa yung phone nya kahit na 2 years na... ngayon na akin na sya naisip ko kung bagay ba sya sa akin or am I being too extravagant??? pero nung naisip ko na di ko na kailangan ng planner/organizer, notebooks for meetings, books for leisure reading and many others, ok na rin... at the same time less paper na and more organized pa.

Being minimalist come in different ways... to each his own style. :-)

^ Haha, michi247, nakaka-relate ako. Just last week, tinanong ako, "bakit di mo kami iniinvite sa bahay nyo?"

At matatanong talaga tayo ng mga tao why we live the way you do.

i think partner and i should live this way na nga. i will be discussing this to him this coming sunday, our family day.kasi nga we are on financial crisis eh, so i think this will help us a lot. pero hindi rin naman kasi mahilig sa gadget si partner eh.parehas kami.we are more on spender sa damit at food.at pagdating sa bahay, meron kami nung mga basic needs lang talaga.pero napansin ko, this past few months, nag-cut talaga ako sa spending ng mga damit ko.naglagay ako ng alotted amount na hindi na dapat mag-e-exceed dun, mejo nagwowork naman na hehe nakakabayad na rin kami ng debts namin.ang laki na nag nabawas kaya feeling ko, mga 2 months na lang debt-free na kami ni partner.after noon, lalo ko pang babawasan ang spending ko, of course, spending on the things na dapat lang talaga namin paggastusan.good luck sa amin.

Working on it. I have adopted a few ways but I am still a work in progress. It's fun, though. :)

~no more make-up for me!! just lipstick, compact powder, and eyeliner na lang. Less make-up, minimal worries on how you look and saves your health, cash even!

And I stopped buying books, I am into digital library now. Currently have 22,000 books, thanks to my geek/hacker boyfriend.

sis same tayo, i'm into digital library din. dati iniisip ko bumili ng madaming books kasi parang ang gandang tingnan pag dinisplay silang lahat..pero nung nakabili ako ng ilan, kung san san ko na lang nilalagay. haha, so better talaga ang digi library for me.

sad to say, despite me being minimalist, medyo makalat pa rin tingnan house namin. not because madaming gamit, but because hindi properly organized. lam nyo yun, wala na nga halos gamit, mukang makalat pa rin lol :D sana sipagin ako this weekend.

^ na-experience ko ang benefit nyang digital books.

when we moved, ang dala ko lang, gadget. Instead of shelves and shelves of books.

i agree with showermist. the use of a smartphone is actually minimalist for me. it serves as my camera, music player, net browser, etc. no other gadgets. i don't buy a lot of make up. the basics will do. i've learned how a waste of money it was buying all kinds of stuff that would only expire and i haven't even hit the pan on some of them. dagdag tambak lang sa bahay. basta i try not to buy what i do not badly need.

this is me matagal na matagal na.

Aside from minimal ownership, I'm also attempting minimal consumption.

One time an officemate saw me na ginagamit yung vendo cup as pen holder. Come christmas binilhan ako ng legit na pen holder.

At another time, my officemate saw me using clipped pieces of brown paper bags as my notepad. Tapos she went ahead and got me 4 notepads. On the one hand, fail on my minimalist endevours, pero I appreciate that my officemates are nice.

Labas na lang kami for coffee or somethin.

ako rin, i don't want to accumulate stuff sa bahay. i would give away all the stuff we don't use. and for bdays and christmas naman i would tell my family and friends to give me canned good so that we can donate it sa foodbank instead.

i must agree with buying books, i use kindle now. yung investment mo lang sa gadget yung magastos but later mapapansin mo mas nakakatipid ka talaga.

nice thread. i used to collect books din gusto ko kasi magtayo ng sariling library after retirement but since I got kindle nag-stop na rin ako sa pagbili ng books. I used to hoard clothes and shoes pero dahil may plano kami mag-migrate we started decluttering na rin para hindi kami mahirapan pagpaalis na. The main thing that made us adapt this minimalist lifestyle nung nag-move kami ng ibang bahay twice. ;D

Nawawala ako sa track with this. Medyo madami na namang gamit sa kwarto namin where we put all our things. We share kasi the house with my sister so all of our things are here in the room.
Medyo crowded na naman because of my daughter's toys madalas kasi nagpapabili. But when it comes to me and my husband, we manage to have enough clothes.

I will gradually apply this lifestyle to myself. I am a hoarder kasi but since I decided to live alone and rented a small space, I appreciate yung konting gamit lang ang meron, the ones that are essential. I don't even have a tv and I was planning to buy one then napaisip ako that since may internet naman, baka di ko rin magamit masyado.
