What makes helpers stay?
The first yaya na nakamulatan ko was with us for 7 years. Before I was born, yaya na siya ng mga kuya ko. Siya na rin nagpalaki sa amin ng sister ko. She was a relative sa side ng dad ko. Pinagpaaral siya ng parents ko ng college. When she graduated, nagpaalam naman ng maayos (sabi ng mom ko). She worked in Singapore, nakapag-asawa na rin doon and basically had a good life. She is still in contact with my mom and dad until now. And we get still get that yearly Christmas card and box of goodies from her.

I remember kasi ayaw namin siyang umalis. Nag-iayakan pa sila ng mom ko. Sabi nga ni mom kung gusto talaga niya sumama kay bf eh wala siya magagawa. Basta alam niyang nakatapos si Ate at ma mahanap na trabaho in the future. Paminsan-minsan dumaraan daw sa tindahan namin sabi ng mom ko...Minsang nangungutang (lalo na kapag may sakit kids niya) but most of the time nangangamusta lang.
The next one, relative ulet from my dad's side. Same thing. Pinagpaaral ng high school at college. Then sumama sa boyfriend. (6 years din sa amin, then on and off HH for a year). Kahit may family na siya ngayon at may sariling business, kapag pinapatawag ni mom and dad (kung may parties, etc), ayun pumupunta pa rin. Mainly to supervise sa kitchen to make sure everything went smoothly and that mom's china and silverware are put back in place.

Sunod is si Ate Inday. Pinag high school naman siya nila mom and dad. I was in college na this time. And sa ciudad na ako nag-aaral

I distinctly remember her kasi napakagaling mag-gitara! and left-handed siya ala Biebs. hehe. My parents offered to send her to college but she refused. she said she would go back to their province na to help her parents...Ayun,no choice but to let her go.
The series of HHs my had for the next three years: two did not want to finish high school (my parents offered to pay for their tuition). one stayed for a day but had to leave because she missed her kids. another one stayed for a week but didn't like our dogs (2 Labs, 1 Rott, 1 Maltese, 1 Terrier and lots of Aspins).
Aside from the free education my parents provided, I think it's because my mom and dad are lenient. Too lenient if I may add. Minsan inaabuso na sila, Hay naku. Kahit sa province maraming abusadong HH. Free everything sa house namin. Toiletries, food, cable TV all you want, whole Sunday off, may weekly allowance pa from my dad (pang-load daw sa cellphone). Hay naku. And to think si mom and dad na lang nasa house namin sa province. (of course there are the dogs

). Parang pensionado ang HH namin!
