GRADE SCHOOLS IN QC

Hi. There is a school in UP Village called Akademeia. It is a school for the highly able, which means their curriculum is enhanced and enriched. I visited it a few months ago and will be enrolling my 3 kids in that school.

The favorite things I found out about Akademeia when I visited are:
1) Each student has an Individualized Education Plan. So they all have unique challenges, behavioral modification plans, etc.

2) All their activities aim to touch the eight multiple intelligences: Linguistic intelligence ("word smart")
Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
Musical intelligence ("music smart")
Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")

3) They address visual, auditory, learners. They can even adjust projects, seatworks, etc to the learning style of children.

4) They have a MINIMAL HOMEWORK POLICY because they believe children need time with family and to pursue other hobbies and skills.

5) If your child is into sports, instruments, etc. , they are lenient with absences and help your child catch up.

6) They believe in using the world as their classroom. They have many field trips, resource speakers, competitions, and even online experiences.

7) They have many other subjects not offered in traditional school.

 They believe it is the teacher's responsibility to teach the students so they don't agree with tutors except in certain cases plus they take it upon themselves to make sure the students learn

9) Religion is an optional subjects but they have a service leaning subject. They built homes tru gawad kalinga and have raised funds for Ondoy victims. I think they also teach the less privilege.

I can't say enough good things about this school. My kids sat in for 3 days and they didn't want to go back to their current school. LOL.

Hi! Could anyone suggest any good coed schools around White Plains areas? I have a 5 y/o girl (incoming K2), 7y/o boy (inc. gr1), 8 y/o girl (inc. gr2) and 10 y/o girl (inc. gr5) transferring from the province because of peace and order situation..
(considering factors: affordable fees yet still provides quality education in the local area)
any suggestions would be much appreciated!thanks!

^ Medyo mataas ang rates along White Plains/Greenmeadows/Corinthian Gardens/ Libis area.  For preschool, meron Philippine Montessori Center, Kids Academy, Casa de Bambini, LEAP, Early Achievers, Abba's Orchard.  For girls' school, Poveda.  For boys, La Salle Greenhills ang malapit pero tapos na yata ang entrance exam here.  You can also check out Britesparks along Libis.  Coed progressive school ang Britesparks.

@Chiclet - Around Whiteplains area is a bit pricey as what was mentioned in the previous post. You can try Pail and Shovel Integrated School in 14th Ave. Cubao. My son goes to this school since Toddler class and he's incoming Senior Kinder this coming school year. This is a genuine progressive school and I can't say enough praises to this school.

By the way, they have school bus service as well

@Marose17 & bingski, thanks sis'! However, we were hoping we can have all the kids in just one school, so we prefer coed grade school with preschool na rin. Looking for traditional school kasi laging natatransfer mga kids ng school bec we transfer cities almost every year.. But will still look into the schools you mentioned. 

Btw, the kids are staying with the in-laws while hubby and I are out of the country for a year, so if you can also quote fees ng schools, para mas may idea na kmi to discuss with the in-laws.. Any info are very appreciated..Many thanks!

my 2 girls are currently studying at St. Paul QC (elem & high school) and so far, so good. what i like about this school is their no take home assignments policy so that's less pressure for kids & for parents too. everything is done in school and kids have more free time to study/review & can sleep early... they also have this swimming lessons for all levels & step program for students (ballet, taekwando, violin/guitar, creative hands, etc). and all classrooms are fully airconditioned so no pawis for my kids

I went to Pail and shovel Integrated School this morning.  I learned a lot from their presentation.  My friend's children are studying there and I have observed her kids and makikita mo tlagang bibo un mga kids. They're very madaldal and inquisitive.  The school has a maximum of 15 kids only and 3 adults (2 main teacher and 1 asst. teacher) for the preschool and sa grade school naman, may class adviser and subject teachers.  I think very ideal for my kiddos who are incoming Grade 1 and Nursery.  Saka ok din kasi individualized un curriculum. Check mo rin

Hi Mommies,

I have twins (one boy and one girl) who will be Grade 1 this SY 2011-2012 in Ateneo De Manila and Miriam College, these schools are both great traditional schools.  Their teachers during their pre-school days are also caring and competent.

Checked out the school, unfortunately, hanggang gr.1 lang sila? was really hoping that they have the complete levels in elementary.. sayang.

So, will you be sending your kids to P&S na? 

We are still looking.. I know it's already a bit late as Enrollment are starting in most schools.

@Mommy Lou, did your twins attend the same preschool or separate schools na sila ever since?

I have twin boys and I am thinking if it's advisable to enroll them in separate grade schools.

Name of School: St. Theresa's College
Location: D. Tuazon Ave QC (right beside the Orthopedic Hospital)
Estimated tuition fee (inclusive of all misc. fees): around 70-80k per year
Traditional or Progressive School: traditional exclusive school for girls run by nuns
Feedbacks (if possible, kung aircon yung mga rooms): non-airconditioned rooms, but the school has a lot of really old trees and greenery and a large grounds so it doesn't get uncomfortable.

i graduated from this school, went there from prep till high school. the school is conservative, which i guess can be a good thing if you want your daughter to have a traditional catholic education. STC has been around since the 1940s and notable graduates include mel tianco, lisa macuja, jessica zafra, gilda cordero fernando and patricia evangelista.

My officemate's daughter is in grade 2 and sabi niya ang tuition daw is only around 35K?

^STC is on my list, i hope i could go there na next week. Ill post my observations here on gt. On my daughter's class, the girls either go to STC or Miriam. Boys naman eithe ateneo or lsgh.
