GRADE SCHOOLS IN QC

I'm from QC, so i'll start this thread about grade schools in QC.  I am seeking for a good grade school nearby our area.  For those who want to participate, kindly answer lang po the ff:

  Name of School
  Location
  (if pwede yung contact number)
  Estimated tuition fee (inclusive of all misc. fees)
  Traditional or Progressive School
  Feedbacks (if possible, kung aircon yung mga rooms)

I'm also scouting for grade schools in QC. There's Claret in Teachers Village near UP and The Learning Tree also in the same area.

My apprehension with Claret is that it's an exclusive school for boys. I'm looking for a good co-ed grade school. Tuition I think is around 50k+, its a traditional school.

I've heard good feedbacks about The Learning Tree. It's co-ed and from what I've gathered, it's both a progressive and trad school. Tuition I think is at 80k+

Hope more moms can share feedbacks about grade schools in QC.

Hi. There is a school in UP Village called Akademeia. It is a school for the highly able, which means their curriculum is enhanced and enriched. I visited it a few months ago and will be enrolling my 3 kids in that school.

The favorite things I found out about Akademeia when I visited are:
1) Each student has an Individualized Education Plan. So they all have unique challenges, behavioral modification plans, etc.

2) All their activities aim to touch the eight multiple intelligences: Linguistic intelligence ("word smart")
Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
Musical intelligence ("music smart")
Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")

3) They address visual, auditory, learners. They can even adjust projects, seatworks, etc to the learning style of children.

4) They have a MINIMAL HOMEWORK POLICY because they believe children need time with family and to pursue other hobbies and skills.

5) If your child is into sports, instruments, etc. , they are lenient with absences and help your child catch up.

6) They believe in using the world as their classroom. They have many field trips, resource speakers, competitions, and even online experiences.

7) They have many other subjects not offered in traditional school.

 They believe it is the teacher's responsibility to teach the students so they don't agree with tutors except in certain cases plus they take it upon themselves to make sure the students learn

9) Religion is an optional subjects but they have a service leaning subject. They built homes tru gawad kalinga and have raised funds for Ondoy victims. I think they also teach the less privilege.

I can't say enough good things about this school. My kids sat in for 3 days and they didn't want to go back to their current school. LOL.

Is there any parent who can give feedback on Miriam College Grade School? I'm considering it for my daughter. Actually, it was number 1 on my list, because of its proximity (just ignore the horrendous Katipunan traffic). However, a co-faculty of mine mentioned that Miriam girls has this label, hence being called "Kiri-riam" (Go figure )

Miriam is still on my list, but it's a toss between that and ICA Greenhills which is a bit far.

ICA has the edge of having Mandarin lesson, though I heard not as good as the other Chinese schools but at least my daughter gets to learn another language.

So if any girltalkers out there send their child to Miriam, please post your reviews here.

Ganito din and classification sa present school ng daughter ko who is prep now...an the good thing is she got most of this multiple inteligence last 2 school year (nursery and kinder) with Gold medal. kaya naghahanap ako ng school na ganito din for her grade school.

Hi fellow mommies! I've posted already in another thread about choosing between ICA and Miriam as grade school for my daughter. And based on insights from some sisses, medyo I'm leaning towards Miriam na, which is actually my first pick din.

I would have opted for OB Montessori din sana kasi co-ed, but sobrang layo na kasi (a minus point din for ICA). So kung co-ed, another choice is Benedictine International School, pero wala pa akong kakilala who sends their children there. If anyone can comment about BIS, please share naman po. Thanks!

i'm looking for a good school near kalayaan ave or commonwealth ave in qc for my 5-year-old. any suggestions? and would anybody here know if raya's still accepting applicants for next school year?

@ilaybalilay, check Nest school by Teacher Tina Zamora (she is the author of the blog called What is a Progressive School?) and The Learning Tree - though mas malapit na ito sa Sikatuna Village.  These are progressive schools.

For traditional, Holy Family School along Maginhawa Street. 

I personally have not visited these schools.  Familiar lang ako sa kanila.

If you are willing to drive to Xavierville Avenue (not so far naman from Kalayaan), there's a very good and highly-recommended Montessori grade school called Centro Montessori.  A lot of the kids in my children's preschool go to Centro for grade school.

@pinkcoyote- My kid goes to Raya and he loves it there. One thing I particularly like about Raya is its thrust towards the students' sense of country. Even in preschool, kids are taught about Filipino culture and history. Also, bilingual sila which is very important for me. Schools (and preschools) nowadays put too much emphasis on the english language, imo. Napapabayaan ang Filipino, iyong love and appreciation for the language. But that's just me.

Also heard very good reviews about The Learning Tree. Progressive siya na may halong traditional. We checked out the place and tuition is around 80k.

@ilaybalilay: Raya has limited slots (only 10-12 students per class in preschool; there are 2-3 classes depending on the level). I suggest you inquire early. Madalas kasi mabilis maubos ang slots.

Hubby tried to drop by Diliman Prep to inquire but the 1st time he went, he missed the place. Hahaha. Hinde nya daw nakita. The 2nd time, he couldn't get a parking slot. Wala palang parking lot so ayaw niya kase paano daw sha magsusundo kapag ganon.

Wala pa din kaming school na napipili. We asked our little boy kung anong school yung gusto nya, ayaw nya daw all boys school and big school. Were considering Claret sana.

thanks marose17 and gulaysk! sa tingin ko, mas bagay nga ang anak ko sa progressive school and raya's at the top of my list. gusto ko kasi matatas pa din sa filipino ang anak ko. as it is, tagalog nga ang salita namin sa bahay pero madalas pa ding mag-english ang anak ko. (hehe.. obviously, taglish din ako.) another consideration is the tuition fee. magkano ang tuition fee sa raya?

additional question about raya, ok din ba ang gradeschool dito?  i take it gulayski's kid is in preschool?  tama ba ko?  i'm also eyeing this school for my son when he starts grade 1 kasi.  having second thoughts on sending him to a big school cause the nearest to us is claret and parang ayoko ng all-boys.  ok din kaya kung elementary dito?
