This year has been quite a ride for me, on the career and friend side its been mostly negative, but everything else is doing well especially my family life. Here are some of the things I've learned in 2013:

1.) FAMILY will/should always come first, no matter what happens its just really family who will stick by you. For me my husband and my child are my foremost priority in life. Everything/anyone else is secondary at the most.

2.) There will be people who will come into your lives and stay only for a while, to teach you a lesson, when its time for them to go - let them go.

3.) There are no real friends in the corporate / office set up - only allies and ulterior motives and ambitions. Know the rules of the game so that I don't end up getting hurt because of mismanaged expectations.

4.) PRAY PRAY PRAY... When you are upset and have no one else to turn to, there is always the comfort of prayer and God.

5.) I realized that I was a mean person the last 2 years or so and I have to make a consious effort to be a better person, because everyone simply deserves to be treated fairly.

6.) Life is so short, try to do the things that I like more and be with the people I love more.

7.) No matter how old you are, you will always find comfort being with your mom/parents.

No one, not even your close friends or family, can help you but yourself.

I know gasgas na saying ito pero yung life lesson ko is to be Honest at all times. You will never go wrong dito.  I lost the trust of my colleagues and clients. Now Im having a hard time gaining it back. I had to change careers para lang mabuhay. Sana di ko sinira tiwala nila. O di sana di ako nahihirapan :(

Don't expect too much.

Agree.

This is a Buddhist guideline:  To be happy, expect nothing.

Be prepared. Condition your mind that you will always be self-sufficient. And remember that the people who you helped in the past won't be the same people who will help you in your present or your future.

Even though we seek advice from other people, at the end of the day, it is up to us if we heed their advice or go ahead and make our own decision.

Everything happens for a reason.

You're in God's hands so why be anxious about everything?

Hope for the best but still, expect the worst.

Life isn't rocket science. Sometimes, it is us who makes things that aren't complicated complicated.

The more you yearn for "more", the lesser the chance for you to ever find satisfaction and contentment.

Expectations lead to disappointments. Instead, be grateful for what you have. You couldn't ask for more.
