How did you get your love for reading?

My dad encouraged me to read as a child, being a bookworm himself.  Ako lang nakamana ng love for reading nya sa aming magkakapatid

Uy sis, same tayo.  I remember our dad brought home 2 Archie comics, yung single na comics type talga, not the single nor double digest.  PEP pa nga yung isa.  Tas from there lumaki na collection namin ng Archie, plus andami namin natutunan.  I remember sabi pa ng isang tito namin nun na educational daw pala ang Archie

My family loves to read- there are libraries in both grandparents' houses. We have lots of books in our own house, mostly fiction. One summer in grade school, i got bored and started reading yun mga Ludlum and Clancy novels ng mom ko. Ayun, lahat na ng fiction genre nabasa ko ata.

it's just something i like to do.  started with reading komiks (Liwayway, Tagalog, Aliwan, etc)
noong bata ako.  i don't know for some reason,   when i see any printed stuff i read it, kahit
nga pinagbalutan ng tinapa binabasa ko.

I'm an only child. I grew up surrounded by adults and grown-up things. Books have always been my secret place, somewhere to run to whenever I want to be myself and feel feelings that are just mine.

I have a cousin na parang nag-alaga sa akin noong bata ako. Iyong family niya, mahilig magbasa. Niregaluhan niya ako ng libro na "Heidi" isang beses. I think that is when I started to enjoy and love reading.

I seriously can't remember anymore when I started reading.
I just knew that I have always been fascinated with reading.
I do remember though the very first book I asked to be bought - Sweet Valley Kids #20 - The Twins Go to the Hospital (where Jessica and Elizabeth had their tonsils taken out)
The other books I read before those were already in the house or bought by my parents.
Among my siblings, I am the only one who liked to read.
I also loved poring over pages of the Encyclopedia back in the day.

It started nung bata pa ako, lage ako binibilan ng colorful story books ng parents ko. Then sa school naman, grade 3 yata or 4 pa lang may book report na kami. Nung una, napipilitan magbasa hanggang sa nakasanayan at naging love ko narin.

at young age of 5 dahil sa komiks haha adik yung mama at lola ko, then nung mag 11 ako pocketbook book then magazines, tapos ebook, the  wattpad at balik book uli.

Hi! Pa-join.  also started with Archie at syempre Pinoy comics.
Yung ibang kakilala ko after the comics Sweet Valley naman nakahiligan, while i was into Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and the like. Tapos naging requirement na sa school na magabasa ng books (award winnings and novels) which was a good thing dahil mas lalo ko pang na-appreciate yung iba't ibang books. Tambayan pa namin ang National dati, mura pa mga books.

Positive feedback from my preschool teacher after reading in front of class, a simple storybook.  Since then, lagi bumibili si mama ng Archie comics and encyclopedia for kids, kahit hindi ko pa masyadong naiintindihan buti may pictures.  At age 8, I started collecting SV kids.

It all started when my dad showed me my name written in the dictionary. Eversince then i'd read that tiny description /definition of my name sa dictionary everyday. It was red and heavy with very thin pages. Then my dad gave me the greek mythology book na may mas maraming description about my name, then i got fascinated with atlantis, with the outerspace so i progressed to the encyclopedias. They were my fave books! Minsan nga nalulungkot ako na wala ng encyclopedias ngayon, i am most exhilirated reading them. Greatest books of my childhood were The Last Mysteries of the World (ata, or earth haha!) and Almanac of the Uncanny.

Since elementary mahilig na talaga ako magbasa. I remember, start pa lang ng school halos nabasa ko na yung mga stories sa Reading Book we have...talk about advance reading. I always see my mom with "thick" books (Ludlum novels) in hand. I told myself, there will come a time, I will have the interest to read those kinds of books din.

Got "serious" with books when I was in High School. Sweet Valley High. I save my baon to buy those. At P80 mahal na sya nun!

I got over SVH. Now, I'm still into those detective spy stuff plus Neil Gaiman stories and twisted fairytale storylines.

My parents They really wanted us to be readers. My mom started reading to all of my siblings when she was pregnant with each one of us. It started with nursery rhymes then short stories for kids, then fairy tales. Our house is also filled with books mostly encyclopedias, science books, 1000 questions books, and other educational books. I would normally just pretend to read them hahaha I was around four or five probably. When I was 7, my parents gave me this gigantic book of Grimm's Fairy Tales (which started my love for fairy tales). What really got me into the whole collecting was Goosebumps (sobrang popular niyang grade 3 ako).

I started reading when I was in high school. I started reading Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries Series.

Siguro I inherited this trait from my Dad. Sobrang hilig kasi nun magbasa ng kahit ano. Dinadala nya kahit saan, kahit nga sa trono dala nya. (hehe, sorry) May isang room kami sa bahay na parang library. Andun lahat ng books namin.

Ako naman nag-start nung high school. May book report kasi kaming kelangan tapusin and I remeber my very first book, Memories of Midnight by Sidney Sheldon. The rest is history. Dun na ako nagsimula magbasa ng Ghost Busters. My preferred genre is crime/mystery/suspense. Ndi ako natutuwa sa mga Twilight/Fifty Shades na yan (hehe, sorry sa mga fans)
