FICO - most prefer CPAs because this deals with financials.
ABAP - you have to have an interest in programming.

if you don't meet those, you may want to consider other functions to specialize in like MM or SD.

if you want to explore or switch to a career as an SAP professional, look for companies willing to train like kaisa or accenture.

^Sis, there are lots of modules within SAP.  However, you must choose whatever is nearest to your heart (or line of work! ).

hello sisses!! I am soon be working as sap support analyst. i have zero knowledge on SAP and i hope someone from here can give me an idea on kind of sap related problem that i might encounter. ^Actually, there are paid sites kaso it wouldn't be that effective pag online lang.  It would be better if you will be trained by joining a SAP consulting firm.  Mahirap kasi pag hindi mo naapply sa work mo yung SAP.  In the long run, your training won't be that effective if you will rely on paid sites as oppose to being trained onsite.

^ actually i just want to do advance reading.. the company will provide SAP training... gusto ko lang magkaron ng knowledge para kapag time na ng training namin masmadali ko maintindihan at makapagtanong ng madami.

^Which type of training are you referring to?  Configurations or Basic processes in SAP?

brutalvirginia, i do not recommend you attend training on your own. not a lot of people get successful with this strategy because training does not guarantee you a job. it is safer to join a company that will train you so you also get the needed hands-on.

penelope, what does an SAP support analyst do? since you have no SAP background, i assume you will do first-line SAP support. in our organization, first-line support mostly just accepts calls and solves the really easy questions. 2nd line support will deal with the less simple ones and 3rd line for the complex ones.

if you want to do advanced reading, you may do as xtine has suggested but more than that, i would recommend you really go through the company's business processes, SAP business blueprint and study their config for you to be effective at your job as support analyst. then later on you can explore all the other functionality of SAP so you can make improvements to the company's process/config.

^^ thanks for the inputs. I have no knowledge about SAP. I just have this gut feeling that people in the SAP industry ang well-paid.

How can I shift careers? I'm a software engineer right now. I do programming but it's not really my passion. I'd like to learn more about finance. Is it important to take courses on finance first before applying as a SAP FICO?
