Who would you guys recommend na TMJ Specialist within QC area? I think I also have TMJ, until now di ko pa siya napapatingin sa specialist. Phase 1 is splint therapy based sa mga nabasa ko here and sa ibang online sources. Phase 2 yung ortho. Anyone heard of Invisalign? Pwede din ba yun for TMJ patients for phase 2 or mas naganda pa din na treatment ang metal braces? Help!

Hello. I just found out this month na may TMJ ako. Done with xrays and analysis. no need for splint. had braces I think 6-8 yrs ago. I'm for treatment next week. any idea kung ano ang meaning ng dagdag bawas na treatment? Medyo kinakabahan lang since next week ko pa malalaman what it means.

I dont usually reply sa mga thread dito but it has always been my go-to forum for my concerns.

But now I find it necessary to reply and give input to other people na dumadaan sa stage ko before.

Until I found this thread.

I read about a TMJ specialist.... Nag try ako since magaganda ang feedback and malapit sakin dito sa QC. And I felt like I needed a specialist na. This is March ata of 2015 na. Natakot na kasi ako baka maging permanent or mas mahirap ireverse pag mas matagal na.

Now I'm in Phase 2 which is the braces na. [textspeak!] splint ko wala na. I can now open my mouth normally :)

Try Dra Camille Ampong of Ampong Dental sa Kamias. Very friendly and open for any concerns and questions.

God bless sa may mga TMJD.... Better avoid mga matitigas and chewy foods like gums, karne or even mangga. hehe. Need to sacrifice talaga kesa lumala. Nakakatakot kasi it can lead to ear complications rin pag napabayaan...

My sister has been hearing/feeling clicks when she's opening her jaw and the pain got worse when she ate Nagaraya crackers until it became so unbearable that everytime she opened her mouth just to eat or even yawn, pain struck her. I got so concerned about her condition and accompanied her to see a local dentist who just diagnosed her with TMJ and advised her to seek advice and treatment from a TMJ specialist. After some research, I stumbled upon Dr. Lolita Fandialan, the pioneer of TMJ here in the Philippines. She was required to get 3 kinds of x-rays at FM Lapid Dental Center (which was pretty costly), and after obtaining them, I scheduled her for an appointment with Dr. Fandialan. After assessing her other signs and symptoms and evaluating her x-rays, she was clinically diagnosed with TMJ and was advised to seek treatment (Phase 1: splints for 3-6 months and Phase 2: braces). The splints (both upper and lower) cost her 45,000 and 5,000 for a month's worth of weekly check-ups (the braces are not yet included). Since wearing the splints, the pain got better but it was very uncomfortable for her to eat because she's also required to wear those splints even when eating. Also, her speech became affected as well since those splints are giving her a hard time in properly pronouncing words. One of Dr. Fandialan's findings of her was her kyphotic cervical spine/neck (splint) and crooked teeth (braces). Based on my history, Dr. Fandialan suggested I also get an x-ray just to check if I also have TMJ.

Once I got my x-rays (the same ones required of my sister), I booked a schedule with her and unfortunately, even without the symptoms of clicking and pain, I was also diagnosed with TMJ mainly due to my braces. I feel terribly disappointed because of the highly-expensive treatment and because after going through 3 braces already (in all honesty), I don't want to wear them anymore and I hated wearing retainers before so I'm not really enthusiastic about the splints since they're a bit similar with each other. Also, I'm very worried about the possible change in my appearance since I've already achieved my desired face and teeth, as well as the highly-probable speech challenges. And even though my signs and symptoms are way milder than my sister's, the duration, method, and cost of treatment is almost exactly the same (Phase 1 and 2 with splints and braces). The lower splints were supposed to correct my military neck and push my jaw forward while the upper splints were supposed to push my teeth forward. As for the braces, they're for teeth alignment and to push my upper teeth upward to correct my overbite (since my lower front teeth are damaging my upper front teeth which caused my 2 front teeth to have a decreased bone mass).

She gave me lower splints first for my military neck (the normal is supposed to be lordotic). I looked awful wearing them because of the extra height she added on the lower splints that is supposed to make my mouth develop muscle memory on the right way to bite. It made my chin longer (a bit similar to the pre-plastic surgery photos of those people with long chins and protruding jaws). I feel so depressed right now that it even affected my appearance since my main reason for getting braces in the first place when I was younger was because I cared so much for my looks. On top of that, she noticed that my front tooth was slightly yellowed than the others and notified me that it might be already dead and that I might also need a root canal. I know it's a bit shallow but I feel like dying upon hearing that. I might really need some serious counseling for this one especially since I'm prone to depression.

I really want a second opinion on my teeth so I'm looking for an orthodontic (preferably who also specializes in TMJ) who is willing to give me a free check-up. Or at least someone who can properly address my possible dead tooth since I want some clarity on that matter because Dr. Fandialan didn't even address it properly.

Dr. Chavez is a strong advocate of ?Whole Body Dentistry? approach which believes that a person?s oral health is strongly linked to the total well being of the individual.  A person?s organ system shares the same acupuncture meridians which are discrete channels that lie beside the blood vessels.  Any disturbances on the tooth would affect directly or indirectly the organ condition.  Thus, study shows that a person?s medical concerns could be related to his dental condition.

Splint therapy didn't work for me. Mas lumabas lahat ng symptoms ng tmj. I used to have neck pain lang before but now i have a weird bite (from wearing splint for 2 mos), neck pain, shoulder pain, facial pain, headache. It's really depressing  :( I don't know what to do next.
