^Hi Parisa, I wear normal braces, no splint. Mahirap kasi pag may braces na may splint pa.
Yun pain na nafeel ko noon is more of the pain sa paggalaw ng teeth, but not with opening my mouth.
How long ka sis nag splint? Better ask your dentist sis para maagapan nila kung may mali man.

Ako nag pasukat na at may splint na. Ang ginagawa ko nilalagay ko muna sa freezeryun tmj appliance ko para malamig at hindi mapag bahayanng bacteria.

At 7,000 yun appliance mismo ah pero napag alaman koeh meron naman pala ko friend na nag bebenta 4,500 lamg asar na asar ako! Hahaha

Hi sisses! How does a splint solve the tmj problem ? I consulted with my dentist and he recommended botox for my tmj problem and he said that i have oversiZed jaws a little daw. It would relax the jaw muscles daw and it would make it smaller. Has anyone here tried botox for tmj? Please give info thanks!

 thanks sis, chichi, i already found a tmj specialist...kanina nagpacheck up ako sa kanya and im glad that he answered all my worries and queries. sinukatan na din nya ako ng splint.  makuha ko na next week.

Botox is only a temporary remedy for TMD.  Botox WON'T MAKE YOUR Jaw smaller.


HOW DO SPLINTS WORK?

Splints provide diagnostic information, allow muscles in spasm to relax, protect the teeth and jaws from the adverse effects of bruxism, and normalize periodontal ligament proprioception. These devices can also allow repositioning of the condyles and jaws into centric relation.

The purpose of splint therapy is to allow your lower and upper jaw to come together without tooth contact, thereby reducing muscle pain and tooth wear.   Occlusal splints assist in establishing normal jaw function.

i also have tmd..bago pa lang nagstart ang treatment ko..ask ko lang kung ano ba dapat i expect kong treatment every visit? bukod sa adjustment na ginagawa sa positioner?

hindi nga pala splint [textspeak!] appliance na sinusuot ko..at hindi ako nirerequire na suot yun lagi..2 hrs lang sa daytime o advisable na suot sya during the time na nagtitrigger ang stress..pero dapat daw sa pagtulog, 8hrs ko suot yung positioner..

yung ka office mate ko na may tmd din eh meron facial massage na ginagawa tuwing visit nya sa dentist..tinanong ko [textspeak!] dentist ko sabi nya, wala daw ganun..ano ba dapat ang i expect kong treatment ng TMD every visit sa doctor? TIA

Nagpacheck up ako sa kanya kanina. 1st check up ako to confirm kung meron nga ako TMD and yes, confirmed nga. :-( Halos naka check lahat ang nasa list ng symptoms.

Medyo madami pa kelangan ayusin sa teeth ko bago makapagstart ng TMD treatment:
1. Oral prophylaxis
2. Upper left wisdom tooth extraction
3. Lower left temporary filling sa 2nd molar, nasira na kase yung sa side ng 3rd molar. Naka sandal ang wisdom tooth ko kay 2nd molar kaya nasira. Pero kelangan mag laser trimming bago ipasta
4. Kelangan daw lagyan ng bridge to replace my 1st molar sa lower left, nabunot na kasi
5. Kelangan din ilaser trimming ang 1st molar sa upper right then filling

My dentist wants to save my teeth, ayaw nya magbunot hanggat pwede pa isave except sa upper left wisdom na sira na at wala naman daw silbi yun so let go na siya

Hindi pa diniscuss sakin kung magkano ang TMD treatment. Sa 2nd visit nalang daw kasabay ng cleaning. - strategy ba eto?

Teeth grinder ako at misaligned bite. Hindi ko kayang iexplain yung lagay ng TMJ ko pero sa TMJ xray, hindi sya maganda. Magkasalungat ang left and right. Hehe.

About dun sa sinabi Nya.. Every dentist iba iba ang treatment or approach sa pag treat ng tmj problem or any other dental procedures..

With me kasi, I'll address the problem first bago yung bunot or rehab... Kasi, nahihirapan na kayo mag open ng mouth diba? So iniiwasan Ko Lang na magka lock jaw ..kaya ill do my tmj treatment first bago extraction or restoration.

Hello po im newbie here,mabuti nlng at nahanap ko ang thread na toh, may ask po ako doc paano po kung ngayon nasa stage napo ako ng tooth extraction balik ko po sa dentist ko nextweek para sa natitira pa pong ttanggalin na sira kong teeth,.alam ko po kahit hindi pa ako nagppa xray positive napo ako sa tmj kasi po may clicking sounds po sa jaw ko pero [textspeak!] pa nman pong times na sumasakit to ska hindi ko prin po naeexperiences mag locked jaw pero pansin ko na po na medjo hindi napo ayos [textspeak!] face ko,naka slide po sya pa right side lalo pa sa picture or nagsasalita po ako..okei [textspeak!] po ba yon kung tanggalin muna lahat ng sira kong teeth kaso po lahat po ng tatang galin is teeth ko po sa bagang left and right :-( ccc lalo po bang makakasama sakin yun? Pag balik ko po next week [textspeak!] napo akong ipin sa bagang lahat sila naubos na,bale matitira nalang po na teeth ko is tig 10 sa upper & lower :-( ... Hindi ko po alam kung tmj specialist c doc kasi d nman nya ako sinasabihan na magpa xray muna.. Pero alam nman po nya na may mali sa face ko dahil po na ngingiwi po ako pa kanan [textspeak!] nya lang po na baka daw po kasi dhil sa ipin ko sa bagang (right side) na naiwan tas [textspeak!] left ko po na bagang is blanko (wala napong teeth)kya dw siguro hindi balance.. Ano po ba mas magandang gawin?pero lahat naman po ng bubunutin ni doc is sira na po tlaga kya ok [textspeak!] nman po na maalis.. Kya [textspeak!] po natatakot ako na baka po pag nawala napo yung mga ipin ko lalo pong lumala yu g tmj ko. Thanks po sana po sumagot po kau if hindi po kayo busy gbu po.
