Bottle and Food Warmer - a MUST BUY or not?

Hi mommies! I saw the AVENT Express Bottle and Food Warmer in SM last Saturday, ask ko lang po kung meron na nakapag try nito? It costs around 3300pesos. A MUST BUY po ba ang bottle warmer or kahit wala nito okay lang? Sabi kasi ng SA sa SM, better kung meron nito pra daw warm ang milk ni baby, kumbaga even daw yung distribution ng heat sa bottle and liquid itself. Unlike pag you use warm water, hintayin mo pa mejo lumamig para di mapaso si baby?

first time mom din ako.. kaya i wanted lahat ng gadgets! hehe!
we have one (first years ang brand) and hinde masyadong ginamit..
sa umpisa kasi naka breastmilk kami..i pumped milk and offer sa bottle and milk so we needed that nung umpisa pero when i stopped pumping na hinde na kami nag warm ng formula..sinanay ko na lang na room temp ang milk formula.
nung nag-solids naman si gianna...ginamit din namin para lang di masayang ang bottle/food warmer sa umpisa lang din yun.. kasi ang hirap magturo sa yaya kung pano gamitin eh..nagsawa na ako sa kaka-explain. kaya nakatago na rin lang ang warmer.

haayy..haba ng kwento anyway, in conclusion.. pwede na rin na meron kang bottle warmer... if you think you really need it..pero merong bottle warmer na hinde ganyan ka mahal. you are better off with a cheaper one kasi di mo naman lagi gagamitin

if you'll pump milk, it will be helpful to heat up the milk. nasulit namin yung use when my daughter started eating solids since i pre-cook food for her then freeze it.

i'm a first timer too and gusto ko din sana bumili ng bottle warmer pero undecided pa ako.

i think i'll need it nga for stored milk - frozen or cold lang in the fridge.

madami ngang klase ng bottle warmers and i agree that it doesn't have to be mahal. just make sure your feeding bottles fit. i'm going na for dr brown's and hindi kasya yung bottles sa regular avent warmer. dapat yung philips avent express warmer daw sabi ng SA. tama naman siya kasi pina-try ko sa kanya.

pero ngayon may bottle warmer na din ang dr brown's so baka yon na lang din para sure na kasya.

first timer too and napabili rin ako.. and 3x lang namin nagamit at nasa kahon na sya.. muntik ko pa ngang isoli sa store kasi i know agad sa mga subok namin na hindi talaga magagamit. chicco yung brand na nabili ko.. 1500 yata yun. tinamad lang akong bumalik sa store kaya till now nasa storage yun. i bought it naman kasi nung time na mahina magfeed si baby ko. kahit ano naiisip ko nun, along with almost more than 25 feeding bottles and nipples, various brands and kinds, nakasama yung warmer sa mga trial and error ko,  naisip ko na baka lumakas feed nya pag medyo warm at hindi room temp yung milk nya, pero no effect naman hehe..

i bought the cheapest brand but may quality na brand na nakita sa babiesrus..kaya yung first years lang ang binili ko. kasya wide neck standard neck and my tommee tippee food pots..kasi may basket sya for baby food jars.
meron din atang local brands ako nakita na meron bottle warmer.. parang precious moments yung nakitaan ko kung di ako nagkakamali

Ang 2 anak ko sanay malamig man or maligamgam ang dede nila.  What's the benefit? Saves you money.  Saves you energy from doing unnecessary things.

At mas delikado ang mainit na gatas or pagkain.  Pwedeng magkaroon ng singaw ang baby mo dahil masyado mainit ang pagkain.

Keeping it on a room temperature is just right.

i guess if you're feeding formula to your baby, kahit walang bottle warmer ok lang. room temp ang water so feed na as is.

but if it's breastmilk stored in the freezer, syempre you have to thaw so a bottle warmer might be practical. if stored naman in the fridge, siguro may occasional use pa din like if malamig ang panahon, papainumin mo din ba ng malamig na malamig na milk si baby? if you let it warm naturally, baka gutom na gutom na siya malamig pa din sobra yung milk. this is the scenario that i foresee for me because i plan to breastfeed (directly or indirectly) for s long as i can.

maybe the ones who say it's not practical formula-fed their babies, those who say it's pracitical fed stored breastmilk to their babies. maybe it's good to qualify based on this as well.

yes sis liyapot..more than pa nga yata hehe.. ganun ako kadesperate nung ayaw nga nya mag feed..halos bilhin ko lahat na bottles..masubukan lang kung saan sya makakafeed ng marami.kasi sabi ng iba baka nga raw dahil sa bottle. i took photo of it with baby pa nga..para syang lumalangoy sa bottles..pang post sa fb hehe..we had pigeon, avent, smartbabies, babyflo, playtex, dr browns, tommee tippee, etc (dko maalala yung iba..dalawang brand pa)..also nipples, all sorts of hole, latex and silicone. pero  may 7 bawas na rin dun.. 2 pinsan ko na ang nanghingi hehe..and may mga nagpapareserve pa.spot nila mga gamit ng princesa ko hehe.. pero ngayon stick to dr browns na sya, 7 bottles nun..pero ang nipple naman, monthly ako magpalit kasi mas madami dami feed nya pag bago ang nipple. namumukhaan na nga ako nung staff ng dr browns sa moa. ako yata ang regular customer nya ng nipple

^^i think not necessarily na ganun.  my baby is breastfed kasi but i think a bottle warmer is not really a must buy.  with frozen milk,  i just make sure to thaw it beforehand, like before getting ready for work and mukhang kukulangin yung milk niya na nasa fridge magbababa na ako from the freezer.  so when the time comes na she's hungry na thawed na yung milk.

with cold milk naman, right now she prefers it kasi super init ng panahon.  pero nung mga jan - feb, when i went back to work, what my mom does is ibabad yung bottle sa hot water.  it usually takes about 2-3 minutes so sandali lang naman di naman nagwawala si baby ko.

so at some point, you may need to warm the milk pa din. maybe up to you na lang if you want to use a bottle warmer to do that or use the conventional method of babad sa hot/warm water in a container.

in this case then, it's not really a must buy kasi may alternative naman. in some cases, it may be a good buy but it's not really a must buy. diba?

and mga reasons ko before in buying it were..
i was also planning on breastfeeding for as long as i can (same as clueless) kaso hinde umubra (long story) hanggang 2-3 months lang ako nakapagpump ng milk.
yung bahay kasi ng mga in laws ko malaki..our room is malaki kaya nag setup na lang kami ng small kitchen sa room (we have our own ref and microwave).. instead of going to the kitchen to heat up water in the middle of the night mas madali for me to just heat it up sa warmer.
tsaka ayaw ko din iwan ang baby sa room tapos lalabas ako para mag init ng tubig...

nakakatakot nga na baka masyadong mainit yung pagkaka-warm ng milk pero my bottle warmer hinde..as in tama lang kasi may gauge sya kung ilang ml ang prepared milk mo..may corresponding ml. din na ilalagay ka na tubig sa warmer..sometimes hinde na warm ng todo yung milk..slightly lang so medyo malamig lamig pa ng konti..

kumbaga it's up to you,, may tulong naman ang warmer eh.. tsaka sa hinayang ko sa kanya talagang ginamit ko talaga sya.... ang dine discourage ko lang eh yung bibili ka ng super mahal na warmer like the avent brand..P3000 sing presyo na sya ng ibang sterilizer e... maraming low to mid-priced bottle warmers na pareho lang ang efficiency.

pwede rin siguro na kung meron kayong hot and cold water dispenser..  pwedeng wala ng bottle warmer..kasi ready na lagi ang hot water nyo eh ..no need to go to the kitchen and heat water pa sa stove di ba?

ako naman ang reason ko lang ngayon kung bakit gusto ko bumili ay kasi mukhang convenient siya. yon lang. malas na lang kung medyo mahal siya. that's always been my problem - i always go for what's convenient kahit na minsan mas mahal.

but i haven't really done much research on bottle warmers aside from the fact na naghahanap ako ng kung saan kasya yung dr brown's bottles. kasi yung isang kasabay ko sa rustan's nung one time, yon ang problem niya. di ko naman na usyoso kung may nahanap ba siya at anong brand.

kung naman wilkins ang nasa hot/cold water dispenser mo, sayang ang tubig pang init lang ng bottle. papakulo na lang tapos lagay sa airpot para kahit papano medyo tumagal ang init.

Bukod sa avent brand, ano pa  po ba mare-recommend niyo na bottle warmer? yung mas cheaper sana. Hay, yung avent nga pal, worth 3300 yung espress nila. Kasya kaya ang avent bottles pag hindi avent ang warmer ko?

di ko naisip na pwedeng wilkins laman ng hot and cold dispenser...sa bahay kasi may sariling reverse osmosis water purifier ang mga inlaws ko kaya yun ang nakalagay sa dispenser... kami lang naman ang umiinom dun at hinde si baby kaya ok lang na gamitin pang warm ng solid food ni gianna ngayon..

i also wanted to buy the avent noong una... kaso di na ubra sa budget ko kasi i also wanted to buy FP bouncer.. eh di nagbudget ako.. i really wanted a bottle warmer.. kaya yung mid-priced na lang ang binili ko. hahaha..kelangan ko mag-compromise para lang mabili ko lahat eh
ang dr. browns ba wide neck like avent? yung first years ko na warmer.. kasya avent... kasya din wide neck na nuby.. $20 lang sya..i think less ko pa yata sya nabili kasi sale that time

question clueless...where will you be storing your BM? storage bags or storage bottles? kasi kami nung una sa bags.. kaya the frozen/cold BM transfer ko sa bottle then warm...eh nahinayang ako ng tapon ng tapon ng plastic!!!..i eventually bought the evenflo ones... dun ko na din warm ang BM them saka ko transfer sa bottle nya kaya eventually parang standard neck bottles lang ang ginamit ko sa warmer

for me no need we just use a creamic bowl put hot water then put the baby's bottle to make my breastmilk warm
ganun din nun ng warm ako ng water para ma dilute yun powder naka soymilk kasi baby ko kaya need medjo warm yun water para malusaw yun powderd milk

just use ordinary bowl put hot water then place the baby's bottle it work fine

prettyarcher, subukan mo sa bottle warmer sis kung kasya yung bottles. kasi nga after i saw that lady sa rustan's na naghahanap ng bottle warmer for her dr brown's bottles, napaisip din ako. so nung nagpunta ako sa baby & co, pina-try ko sa SA don yun dr brown's sa avent express warmer. di kasya. dapat daw philips avent warmer, yung mas bago. so mas mahal siya, 4200 ang regular price. try mo yung bottle kung kasya bago ka bumili.

mas malaki ng konti ang DB wide neck bottles sa avent, btw.

liyapot, i plan to use milk trays to freeze milk. pag frozen na siya, tanggal sa tray then lipat yung 1-oz milk sticks sa ziploc then thaw as needed. in this case, i think i will need a bottle warmer pero hindi ko naman alam kung gaano kadami ang maf-freeze ko na milk. kasi diba what you pump today normally gets fed to baby tomorrow. so kung ganon pwede sa fridge lang.

kung sa fridge lang, medyo confused pa ako. i still haven't decided on a pump but i might go for lansinoh (gusto ko sana freestyle kasi again, mukang mas convenient pero tingin ko di ko magagamit yung hands-free function niya). ayaw ng ko maliliit na containers so iniisip ko bibili ako ng 2 9- or 11-oz avent bottles and an avent pump conversion kit so i can pump direct to the avent bottles tapos pagdating sa house, lipat na sa DB wide neck bottles para ready for warming then feeding na.

hmmm... as i was writing that, parang hindi practical. pero naisip ko mukhang convenient. haha. i think i will have to rethink that. sorry, IE ako kaya ngayon pa lang ginagawa ko na ang process flow ko.

sis clueless thanks po, pa demo muna ako sa SA sa baby company before I buy. May nakita pala ako online na avent exoress bottle warmer, cheapest na yung 3200. Yung iba naman, less than 3k pero 110 volts. Usually kasi ang gifts na natanggap ko avent bottles, kaya sana may mahanap ako na mas cheaper na warmer kung saan kakasya yung avent bottles

i breastfed both my child... sa morning, i don't need to pump because the babies are suckling every 2hours.  So no need to pump since it's always drained.

I pump during night time, before going to sleep.  Kasi mas less silang nahingi ng milk.  So whatever I pump I put in the freezer, to be thawed the next morning.  So I have time to eat and recuperate.

I normally just put the frozen or cold milk in a mug with hot water.

Then when my kids started eating solid, they started to prefer milk from the fridge kasi mainit na.  Until now, they still prefer the milk cold for morning and room temp in the evening.

As for the MUST of buying the bottle/food warmer, I still stand that it's not a MUST.  You may forgo if your short of budget.  But if you have money to splurge, then by all means buy one.

sa umpisa ang kada feeding ng baby is only tag 2 ounces.. increase [textspeak!] ng 1 oz per month. pero frequent feedings yun kada mga 2-3 hours
so parang ang dami kung mag heat ka ng 10oz milk kada feeding?..
ahhh teka..ayun.."as needed"..sensya na hehe...

if you're going the avent breastpump..meron via cups yun..small containers.. ok din yun kasi magagamit mo rin the via cups for your home prepared solid
food.

ang sis in law ko used plain ice trays with cover.. then transfer sa ziplock bags...i think it worked for her.. for a while..tapos nag stop na rin sya mag BF...
noong una yun din ang nasa isip ko..ice trays and ziplock.. nakabili na din ako ng icetrays at ziplock bags..at yung milk bags.. nung andun na.. mas mahirap.. ang hirap tanggalin ng cubes!! ewan!! isip ko pa pwedeng ma-contaminate kasi maaring ma-touch ng hands ko yung milk.. ewan talaga!! palpak lang yata ako! 
tsaka isa pa nasasayangan din ako sa tapon ng tapon ng plastic.. di sya environmentally friendly para sa akin..at hinde rin friendly sa pockets eventually.

anyway pretty archer, meron akong nakita sa baby company na bottle warmer..parang precious moments ang brand eh..but im not sure.
you can also check rustans..tapos hanap ka na lang ng mas cheap sa avent..
ang pigeon yata meron din.. alam nyo last year walang mga bottle warmer na ganyan... avent lang ang meron noon.. ngayon me mga lumalabas na ibang brands

^ i agree di naman sya MUST..but if you think you will need it and you have the money..why not di ba? madali mo na yan ma-justify kay hubby pagdating na sa bilihan! hanapan nalang ng lusot hahahhaa
