grabe sobrang lamig, temp. was between -12 to -15C and kahit we were fully dressed for winter, tumatagos pa rin sa gloves namin ang lamig. we bought na lang face mask as it was soooo chilly, our cheeks were like tomatoes na sa pula.

add 5-10 degrees pa for the wind chill factor. kaya feeling niyo tumatagos kasi mas malamig yung nararamdaman ninyo.

sobrang lamig pa yung pag humangin eh natutulak ka ng hangin.

its warmer now here in Beijing. Last weekend was the most polluted time in history because pollution levels went beyond index.

Planning to go to beijing in may. Any suggested itenerary for a 7-day trip??? Safe ba magtravel kasi sa news there's someone in beijing who died due to ah1n1 eh.

just bring winter clothing. it's the peak of winter there.  Don't miss the great wall and tiananmen in your itinerary.  Visit a museum or two if you can. If you can visit Shanghai, take the maglev train and go to the Bund. Macau is also a good place there is a Venice inspired casino there. For shopping go to the silk market.  Tour based shops are more expensive.

^sis di ba tapos na winter by May? It's a good time actually to visit since it won't be too cold and not to hot either. Kaso you'll be missing na the Cherry Blossom

went to Harbin from Beijing for the Ice Festival. It looks like what it is in pictures- amazing! Huge Ice sculptures. - 25 to -30 nga lang ang weather pero survived naman. Parang our 4 days in beijing help us prepped up to the point na naiinitan na ako sa shanghai lol

Di ko type ang Beijing, people spit everywhere with matching sound pa, kadiri! But I love Dalian, and Shanghai! I'd go back to Shanghai.

i can't remember na but it is not expensive yung maglev train may station sya from the airport so you don't really need a hotel to check-in kung day trip lang kayo sa shanghai (i don't see a reason why you need to do vernight unless you want to experience hotels in shanghai) i don't remember it so most likely minimal fee lang sya

^Wait since when nagkaroon ng maglev from Beijing to Shanghai? There were plans before but it was scrapped. Shanghai maglev is only from Pudong airport to Longyan rd. and back.

@supladitang cute, you can check the official website of the Shanghai Maglev here. As for train travel from Beijing to Shanghai there is a relatively new service that opened in 2011, the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway. I don't think a day trip is doable since one-way will take you around 4 hours and 45 minutes. So kung round trip ka, you're looking at 10 hours. Ano pa ang time mo mag-ikot?

I wanna go back to Beijing kahit one day lang in time for my upcoming Shanghai trip. Foggy kasi yun Great wall nun time na nagpunta ako last year kaya wala akong nakitang view as in wala. Yun mismong wall lang na nilalakaran ko. That's the reason of going back to Beijing.

^Thanks for the clarification but following the posts the original question asked was how much the maglev train was from Beijing to Shanghai. It can be confusing if one is not clear with their answers.

Hi girls, I'm booked na to Beijing for 7 days. ANy suggested iteneraries? Planning for a DIY. Any helpful map links available online? Please help. I've been backreading na but parang kulang pa rin. Ilang months ba dapat before magapply ng visa? travel on April last week.

@supladitang cute, lucky you! You get 7 days to explore Beijing. It is such a beautiful city kulang pa one week to really discover what the place has to offer.

I got to visit the city twice, both 48 hours each visit since angkas lang ako sa flight ni hubby. My first visit we went to The Great Wall (Mutianyu section), Wangfujing, Donghuamen night market, Olympic Park, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square. I wrote all about it in my blog.

My next visit naman, we took it easy lang so we spent most of the first day at the Summer Palace (place is huge!) and dinner back at Wangfujing. Next day was our Hutong walk (Guloudajie area) and Beihai and Jingshan parks.

I hope I get to go back again as bitin-bitin my visits.

Yup. Needed to cancel my el nido flight this March kasi hindi pwedeng laging leave. Lagot ako sa boss baka bawiin ang perf rating ko. Hehe Hopefully, we can have our visas. It's my companion's first time to go out of the country. Hopefully, hindi siya matrauma kasi it's a non-english speaking country. Never fond of booking with travel agents sa lahat ng trips ko abroad or local laging DIY. Although baka I might book a day sa Beijing with a travel agent. I'm not sure kasi if we can pull it off sa Beijing. Wala pa akong nakikitang informative post re DIY. Baka pwede naman kayo magpost. hehe

^sis, have you been back reading on this thread?    Halos lahat ng GT na nag-post dito DIY ang trip nila, me included. And we have shared our experiences on this thread. Medyo off naman yung sinabi mo na wala ka makitang informative post dito on DIY.

Not to offend you but kaya nga DIY, kasi you read and gather info then start planning on your own. If you have questions, then ask away. Surely meron at meron na sasagot sa yo. Isn't it evident with all the replies to your earlier questions on this thread?

sis vain_kixie did you ride a train going to harbin or nag plane kayo?how cold is cold there? do you really need the hardcore type winter clothes and boots or puede naman just layer everything? and kaya ba ng 2 years old ang lamig duon?
