I think with your budget of 6k, you can get two different sizes of luggage already.

for those na within Manila lang there is an ongoing sale at prime building its in Binondo. Most of the items they are selling are luggages (Delsey, Samsonite, World Traveller, Victorinox) very cheap na kasi its less 70-80 % from the original price. when i was there last night i bought a delsy bag na pd na pang hand-carry at less than 3K. if you can try to drop-by youl find good luggages there at a discount.

I had the chance to see and carry the Salsa Air in person when I was in Rockwell, super light nga! Kaya lang the size of the luggage I wanted isnt available so I have to wait pa when they have it in stock.

Its a shame it doesn't come in black so Im quite stuck with the purple ones.

until sat sis. today and tom they will be open around 9ma or 10 until 7. on saturday only up to 3 pm. they have an entrance of 50 pesos but if you are really looking for very cheap luggages with brand names the 50 pesos is worth it talaga super discounted ang prices!

They replenish quite fast, just order your units.   2 weeks general waiting time.   
The purple ones are gorgeous though...

My friend was at this sale pala  the other day. Ang dami niyang nabili na Delsey. Sobrang worth it daw even with the P50 entrance fee.

it depends on the allowed baggage allowance.

if you're taking the budget airlines with 10-15kilos, better buy luggage with that capacity so that you wont overpack.  expensive din ang excess baggage.

For those of you who travel to the US and are a fan of Delsey/Samsonite/American Tourister, make sure to check out discount department stores like TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross.  They sell luggage pretty cheap at almost 50% off retail price.  I always buy my luggage from there and never spend more than $100.

^ Uy thanks for the tip!  Medyo hirap kasi ako maghanap ng Sam's Club and Costco is not so convenient also.  But I do recall years back nakabili ako ng luggage set sa Costco.  Anong brands ang meron sila?

I need luggage na nacoconvert into a backpack. Kasi ang hirap magnavigate sa subways/train stations with a bag na rollers lang. kaya gusto ko yung mabubuhat ko sa likod. help naman, baka you know of durable luggage like that. I saw one in travel club pero 13thou siya.
