Affordable and sturdy luggages?

i also bought my luggage from SM, Urban yung brand niya, mga 3 years ago pa. its the perfect size for 20kg. I used it on my business trips to Malaysia, U.S., Singapore and Hong Kong, mga 2-3 times a year. so I can say na matibay siya. good buy na for 2,000php (sale kasi)

we bought our (4) Urban luggages sa SM dept. store 2 years ago din. perfect for 23 kgs. matibay talaga... twice a year ginagamit Pinas to North America kahit ibalibag sa airport buo pa rin at walang yupi! got it sale din parang 1,700 to 2,200 ang price forgot ko na kasi.

Bought mine from United Colors of Benetton in white..why white? kasi madali ma-recognize among ALL other luggages LOL.madali naman linisin kasi textured yung surface.Can easily accomodate 20-23 kg (never tried putting stuff  which weighed more than that),plus a 10 kg (it can carry up to 15 kg) Jansport white polkadots trolley.Pareho white and they've been my constant companion in ALL trips, plus both are easy to clean too despite of being whitish....hindi rin expensive!I never bring a lot of stuff with me kc am always keeping in mind: SHOPPING

I bought 1 from SM Department Store. URBAN ang brand. It's 3k for a LARGE size. Affordable and stylish. Don't know the durability since I only used it once.

I bought another one from Benetton. 5k for small sized luggage It's super pretty. Both luggages in PINK

I know you're asking for affordable luggage but if you ask me I think you'd get the most out of your money with Rimowa's luggage. Their design aesthetic is commendable as well. Good luck!

^I agree. I have a whole set of Rimowas. They are expensive but they come out cheap in the long run as they are durable.

^sis, depends on the series/line. For the Salsa series, the cabin trolley bag price range would be 12K-15K. If you're planning to buy, don't get it here in Manila at super OA ang prices. Buy in HKG or better yet sa EU.

Diane von Furstenberg by Randa or Badanco. It's durable and cheap. I've had mine for years and it never fails me.

recently bought a World Traveller luggage from the Big Outlet Sale in Megatent last September 2010. It was on 50% sale, so price was around 2,900. original price was around 6,000. very nice coz it has a sturdy frame, the tope part where the handle is has a hard frame, so kahit mapatungan it doesn't get squished.

bought it in taupe (same color as my favorite Longchamp bags hehe)

hope this one goes a long way

i'm also looking for an affordable but sturdy luggage. i'll be having my first out of the country trip kasi next year.  i don't know how frequent will i use it, but it's just gonna be a 4-day stay.  i think a small luggage will do, tama ba? yung pwedeng hand carry lang?

i've seen lots of affordable luggage in sm dept. store. i'm just now sure if the salesmen are telling the truth though.. there's world traveler, compass and voyager. i read here na di maganda voyager, nasira gulong but the salesman told me that the wheels of their luggage are somewhat protected to keep it intact.  i'm quite attracted to this na sana kasi its cheap lang and it's purple in color pa.  world traveler looks promising too kasi black color lang yung naka sale for only 2k+.

my budget is only 2k-3k, kasi i'm not frequent in travelling abroad and i'm not sure when will be my next travel abroad after the 2 scheduled trips next year (feb). any suggestions? parang nanghihinayang ako pag super expensive, hehe.  and sanay kasi ko sa backpacker style when travelling locally.

^ yes sis, puede yun handcarry lang kasya na pero still depende pa rin syo. im a lightpacker. yun 5days china ko naka-backpack lang nga ako e hehe.

^we bought our URBAN luggages sa SM 2 years ago. on sale sya noon so less than 2,500 lang yung pinakamalaking luggage. we bought kasi the sets na puwede handcarry (7 kgs), yung medium size at yung pinakamalaki (23 kgs). if you are a lightpacker puwede na sayo yung 7 kgs handcarry para hindi mo na problemahin yung checked baggage mo. if kulang sayo yung 7 kgs handcarry, opt for the medium size. not sure about the max weight, parang nasa 15-20 kgs yata ito. yung pinaka-malaking luggages kasi usually 23 kgs ang kayang weight nun.

saan ba ang trip mo? checked the airlines kung ilan ang maximum allowable baggage weight nila. sa North America (US/Canada) kasi 23 kgs ang allowed baggage weight X 2.

depende sa airline and sa class ng ticket mo. usually 10 to 7kg ang handcarry aside from your shoulder bag. depende pa rin. puede naman i-check-in ang backpack sis. ganun ginagawa ko.

about the luggage, backread ka na lang. may mga local na sturdy naman.

thanks mga sis. your posts really helped. mukhang yung URBAND brand yung ok na local luggage at inexpensive. cebu pac yung airline ko going to taipei and hk (separate dates).  i read na medyo malamig panahon dito by feb, my travel dates.  i'm used to pack light when traveling locally kasi madalas  puro beach ang pinupuntahan ko.  with this international trip (my first!) at malamip pa panahon, i'm not sure if the small luggage will suffice.  kilala ko rin naman kasi mga damit ko, di naman malalaki.  baka i can manage a small luggage.  wag na lang ako mag-uwi ng pasalubong, hahaha!
