^ I know of a man who would rather have a relationship with gays, and sometimes fellow straight men. Takot talaga sya sa mga babae.

Maybe, he could be gay. The word "gay" has a broad definition eh. Even Wikipedia defines "gay" as a homosexual man. But one thing for sure; he's not effeminate, heck, he's not even metrosexual or vain. He admits he's bisexual but he will never treat himself as feminine.

I'm not defending the LGBT community nor defying the Will of God. I'm just saying that being one will not immediately mean that they are d*mned to hell how deliberate they keep themselves to their sexual preference, and they are never less of a person.

The new Pope recently said--to paraphrase him--homosexuality is no biggie. That there are bigger sins the Church ought to tackle more fervently. I agree.

^Hmm... for me naman, a sin is a sin. Walang malaki, o maliit.
The pope is focusing too much on making the people go to church. But what's the use of that if God is not pleased with them? Sayang lang effort, IMO.

Well, the bible said naman na wag mag judge. BUT it says it's okay to judge within the church. Yung mga unbelievers, eh sila yung wag na i-judge kasi si God na magja-judge sa kanila.

^ Which is paradoxical -- because in the Bible, Jesus said, "Let the one who has not sinned, lift a stone and throw it."

Sure, these homosexuals may have sinned and chose to deliberately sin by being one (as written in the Bible), but they will always, and always have a reason of being one. But does this automatically mean that they will not accept salvation for it?

The Bible has been written in the age where slavery and barbaric feudalism is still a norm in the society and homosexuality is heavily frowned upon, anyway -- this is because in those eras, people, especially the Romans, keep on lustfully "doing it" with their fellow members of the same sex and doing so was the status symbol during those times as high-classed people and men of literature, music and arts are the ones "setting this example" as if they're being in a different cult, and this was also during the time that procreation is greatly necessary. This is related to that "go forth and multiply" phrase in Genesis.

A little, if not none, of these people back then act like the effeminates and the tomboys nowadays, because some of them are heterosexuals and have built a family with full of love to God and to everyone. Most do not choose to "do it" with their fellow males or females.

I'm not saying not to follow the Bible -- it's just that not all of the verses do conform with the modern ages any longer.

^So are you saying the bible's verses are the ones who should conform to the world?
What happens to the "Do not be conformed to this world" of Romans 12?

And when Jesus said, ""Let the one who has not sinned, lift a stone and throw it." Well, I don't think it contradicts the other verses. Because the bibles said not to judge the world (because God is the one who will judge them). We can judge within the church with "righteous" judgement, BUT before doing that, we must also make sure we have not sinned that very same sin.
It is important to judge inside the church because we are also commanded to stay away from those who keep sinning.

"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." -Matt. 7:5

Sin naman talaga kung nakikiapid sa kapwa lalake ang isang lalake. Though we should not judge kasi only God can judge

Amen. Live and let live.

what i don't understand about the bible is that slavery is fine, but love someone of the same sex and you burn in hell?

For those confused, gender identity is different from sexual orientation. Read up and you may be surprised about the many things psychology has to say about our lgbt bros and sisses. Google is your friend. :)

and if you think it is a sin to be gay, who really cares? if you do, WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT IT? lol.

To warn people of the sin they are committing?
I agree no one should persecute someone just because they sin. ALL people sin. But that doesn't mean we would just pretend it's not there and we wouldn't care at all. Because a true Christian is concern for the soul of others.

i have gay and lesbian friends and i still love them. we still hang out pero paminsan di maiwasan ang pambibiro pero di umaabot na may napipikon.

love the sinner not the sin. paminsan ang hirap din magcompliment or magbigay ng sagot sa kanila

Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

i am not religious. in my opinion Sodom and Gomorrah is not really about homosexuality. it is about meaningless sex.

Sis may12, sorry if I didn't get myself clear. I meant about taking the books and epistles too literally, word-for-word, separating every verse from the whole passage.

The passage where Jesus said those words is about the woman who committed adultery and those who condemn her to death; all of them are Jews. Also, judging a fellow in the church is from Paul's letter to the Corinthians, right? This part of the letter talks about sexual immorality; I'm not going to expound it any further as to not heat up the discussions here.

But in a practical sense, His Will is to love everyone, sinners or not, as how He loves us all. If you think they have sinned, then do you think that judging them follows it?

The best we can do to the sinners is to make them realize that God's love is greater than their sin -- giving them encouragement, etc, not to warn them otherwise, and not to tell them to their face that they have sinned.

^If it is within the church, then yes... I think it's a MUST to judge them, like what the bible says.
Magbigay nalang ako ng example ha, as to why I think it should be judged within a church. Real-life examples to. Both have positions in a church.

1. He molested a boy in the church. Napaalis siya sa church. So wasn't that judging him already?
2. She molested her friends (na girls). The pastor chose not to judge her. Hindi siya napaalis. And guess what? She kept doing that parin...

So in certain cases, we DO have to judge each other. So that we can draw the line. Kasi let's face it. Sometimes we do need others to spank (not literally) us before we can wake up and stop doing stupid things.

^ "Preventive measures."

This is where judgment becomes necessary, and this is why due process is also necessary as to prevent prejudgment and too much condemnation as well.

Otherwise, if it does no harm to anyone, let God judge; and it's our responsibility to encourage them not to sin anymore by giving them an environment full of love and care instead of branding them as sinners per se. And Amen, live and let live.

What harm does being gay or tomboy do to others that we need to prevent, BTW?
Spreading gayness or being a "kulasa" over the world? Spreading the idea of crossdressing?
There are too much critical people in this world to allow that to happen. If you're going to pertain to HIV, are you even sure that the gay person is "doing it" with fellow men?

Preventing God from being offended? Violating His Will? For what reason? Chunks of Bible verses again? Then this only ruins the loving and all-powerful image of God; He's not and NEVER a critical entity. I think I have explained enough on my previous posts.

------------

Since you would rather take Biblical verses instead of passages, I think you got it from this verse:

"What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”

Judge the inside, expel the bad person, but once expelled only God can judge. Expel the person from the church and he gets no chance of salvation any longer. But if we judge it leaves no room for forgiveness as well so it defeats the purpose of "spreading the faith and salvation." And what about the stone-throwing verse that Jesus said and that "log in the eye" and "we are all born sinners" verses that Paul said anyway? Because if we expel the person from the church, we already condemn him.

Take it as it is and what do you get? A paradox.

-------

Anyway. I do not want to disrespect what you believe in. I'm still against gay/lesbi marriages because it defeats the true purpose of marriage -- procreation. I believe that companionship is simply enough.

But I just want to share my take on it. We're not born to have the same way of thinking anyway.

If marriage is for procreation, does that also mean infertile and old people shouldn't get married?

^ I don't mind them getting married in a civil sense -- lesbis, gays, old people, infertile people for the sake of celebrating of them getting together and just for the sake of them having some conjugal property of sorts. And it's just okay for couples who were able to bear a child but didn't have the chance to get married in the church, and most of the time no one can determine anyway if a couple or one of them is infertile unless they consummate their marriage, right?

But I just think that companionship is enough in another sense; we can all be together anyway without any special blessings. Let the Sacrament of Matrimony be left for man and woman with the intent of building a family and their new generation from their own flesh. (Gah, ang labo ko na naman, sorry)

Oks lang yan, medyo sensitive din naman ang debate na to eh. Each Christian sect has its own general opinion about this anyway. Let's leave it to that.

OT/Trivia: Shakespeare's sexuality is also debated on. Lol.
