Hi everyone,  my Husband and I are planning to take IELTS (General) next year, we will review by ourselves instead of enrolling at a review center to save money.

I've heard Cambridge reviewers are the best, they are pretty much available in the Internet. I'm an AB/BSE Literature graduate so I can teach English and passed the LET (PRC - Board Exams for Teachers) but I still am a bit nervous, unang una medyo matagal na gumraduate, currently in Qatar and medyo poor ang English communication skills ng mga tao dito, and I know these tests are pretty serious. Sayang din yung 10k haha pag mababa score.

I hope to find fellow Sisters/Brothers here so we can share our experiences, reviewing strategies and materials.

Nakapag ielts ka na sis? How was it? Hubby ko mababa nakuha sa writing although bilib ako sa english ability nya ah kaya kahit ako nagtaka na mababa sya like 6, totoo bang may point ang ganda ng penmanship and hindi raw kc sya umabot sa 250 words like 200+ lang daw nagawa nya, siguro masyado nya hinirapan or gumamit ng sobra lalim na mga words kaya hindi siya umabot sa 250, sabi ko nga sa kanya baka malaki bearing ng pag follow ng instruction na 250 words and yun nga hindi rin kasi siya sanay mag small caps kaya natagalan din siya at hindi kagandahan penmanship, kailangan daw kasi sa writing may small caps, or mababa lang talaga magbigay ng points dito sa qatar pagdating sa writing?

Sis jajamom woah dito din sya sa Qatar nagtake? Hinde pa kami nagtake next year pa namin plano kasi sayang yung validity since di pa naman namin agad agad gagamitin. Akala ko mas mataas sila dito magbigay ng score.

Hello mga sis, afaik importante ang word count, penmanship is not a problem, pero pag kulang sa word count bawas sa score.

Thanks sis pandalicious, oo nga eh kaya nalungkot ako nung sinabi nya agad na hindi siya umabot sa 250 words kasi feeling ko importante talaga yun kahit hindi pa ko nakapag ielts, mas ok siguro na lumampas ng konti huwag lang kulang

Yup sis rory, qatar based din kami since 2009 pa ko dito and hubby naman 2006 pa, nalungkot talaga kami na 6 lang nakuha niya sa writing tapos the rest eh mataas naman eh milya ang layo ng english proficiency niya sakin so paano pa ko hahaha...although youtube youtube lang review niya, plan niya mag take ulit before end of this year and baka magsabay pa kami

^Sis, for Canada/migration din ba IELTS nyo? Kung mataas naman iba baka mahatak na? May provinces na di naman required sobra taas na IELTS score. Matagal tagal pa kami makapag apply, kaya dinedelay pa naman IELTS, sayang validity. Nagreview review din ako using Cambridge materials, ok naman, pero pag actual na lalo sa speaking, kaka-kaba!

Ok lang lumagpas sis, wag lang sobrang haba naman online lang din review ko, yung ieltsliz.com helpful mga tips.

^Hi Sis, di pa kami nag take ng IELTS kasi ang ikse ng validity parang 2 years lang ata, sayang lang since di pa naman kami agad mag process ng application, if ever yung processing mismo will take a year na.

Curious lang ako anong issue mo sa writing? Nag self review ka ba or sa nagenroll ka sa review center?

Tingin ko pinakamahirap talaga ipractice ang writing if hindi ka talaga nagsusulat. Madali kasi makita ang mga grammar and spelling errors unlike sa speaking (based to sa TOEFL experience ko ah).

Ako tingin ko the best way to go is to stick with simple words, simple phrases na alam mo talaga. Not sure sa scoring scheme ng IELTS but sa TOEFL parang mas important yung sentence construction and grammar.

It's easier for me to write essays in 3-7-7-3 format. It is more about how coherent the structure is, wag pa ligoy ligoy. You can search the net about this, they provide topics and try and try to get the disadvantages and advantages, by the time na writing na, bullet the list and make sentences out of it. HTH

Nice thread! Currently reviewing din for IELTS. I'm leaning towards British Council than IDP since mahirap mag file ng VL sa office. The former kasi scheduled na yung speaking and writing test whereas the latter will send the written test schedule a week before the speaking test ata.

I have a prblem ... i need to know if capitalization is important lalo na sa reading test? At reading? .... my big problem is writing task 2 because wala atang one formula rule sa test questions eh ... iba iba sila lahat please i need advice gusto ko na talaga magtake ng exam

I took it a year ago, and big factor yung number of words. So for those who are used to straight to the point emails/messages or yung mga bullet type of emails, mejo malaking adjustment ang kelangan for ielts. IMO parang kelangan mejo skip out of the usual short and concise essay ang peg to get a better score.

^^ parang hindi ko naman napansin yung mga capitalization.
