i've got trainings for green belt din from previous company pero I wasn't able to get full certification coz we have to shelf the project we're working on for green belt certification..  i wonder din how to get certified for this..

Basically, process improvement sya in the mfg and service level of a business.  It has various level depending on your degree of mastery of the six sigma processes.  I believe the first level is having a green belt.  Advantage??  Career wise, It will improve your marketability for future employers.   
Aside from the fact, you'd be able to save $$$ for the company you're working for once your six sigma project is deployed.

The goal of Six Sigma is to increase profits by eliminating variability, defects and waste that undermine customer loyalty.

Six Sigma can be understood/perceived at three levels:

   1. Metric: 3.4 Defects Per Million Opportunities. DPMO allows you to take complexity of product/process into account. Rule of thumb is to consider at least three opportunities for a physical part/component - one for form, one for fit and one for function, in absence of better considerations. Also you want to be Six Sigma in the Critical to Quality characteristics and not the whole unit/characteristics.
   2. Methodology: DMAIC/DFSS structured problem solving roadmap and tools.
   3. Philosophy: Reduce variation in your business and take customer-focused, data driven decisions.

Six Sigma is a methodology that provides businesses with the tools to improve the capability of their business processes. This increase in performance and decrease in process variation leads to defect reduction and vast improvement in profits, employee morale and quality of product.

this training is very good. My supervisor now, is a Six Sigma Black Belter, nung time na the company still sponsors this program for top talents. But they stopped na since the mortality rate of officers participating in the program was so high (parang 2 out of 30 lang ang nakakatapos).

It's really an edge pag na-certify ka. I want to be certified kaya lang ang mahal, at least a P100k [textspeak!] mga nakikita ko (and di pa aabot sa black belt un)...

we're lucky we're all required to take this. now, i'm working my way for yellow belt. hindi siya madali. to be certified to a certain level, projects/ initiative must be made. matagalan ang timeline ng projects nito. yung mga higher bosses dito, green belters na pero they have a bond i think.

six sigma started in Motorola if i'm not mistaken.

our company has this... kung talagang super galing ka they will sponsor your green belt and black belt study in Singapore

then special projects ka na lang lagi.. trip here in there

sa dati rin ko ring work, lahat ng supervisors may six sigma training.. kaso hindi ko na naabutan kasi nag resign ako.. hehe

Hi, sa amin, may training for this and I am about to be enrolled sa Yellow Belt .. But since free sya through our company, may bond kami for 1 year. Some of our managers are already Black belters..

Eto yung pag identify at pag eliminate ng errors usually sa mga process ng isang sistema sa company nyo. May kanya kanyang projects bawat students.

To be certified, you need to be trained, tested and complete a project.  It's the project that makes it or breaks it.  This is primarily used for manufacturing to improve processes.  It's good to have, pero hindi lahat nareresolba ng 6 Sigma.  Sometimes, the process just needs to be Lean.  And sometimes, there's no rocket science required at all.

There are several companies that offer training, testing and certification.  You can also refer to sponsoring sites if your company does not offer this.

I agree with sis numonorean not all processes can be improved by Six Sigma. Madami projects na hindi minsan na close dahil pagdating sa Improve phase  hindi na mameet yung nadeclare na targets. Then hindi na sila aabot sa Control phase.

Currently, the companies I know who are offering Six Sigma trainings are call centers, ITs and manufacturing firms. Medyo mahal kasi itong training na ito and main purpose is really to improve processes and reduce cost or ensure there's savings for the company due to propose solutions.

In terms of levels, please correct me if I'm wrong. Ang na aalala ko ay white, yellow, green and black belt. It's not really a requirement to pass all belts. We can start at green belt already or you will be the project owner. For certifications, It's divided into 2. First is when you pass the exam after the required number of trainings and second is when you close your project.

^sis just an info from what I read sa home page ng six sigma there's no such thing as white belt certicate po. inidisclaim na nila po about it...ang level ng six sigma po is yellow, green then un highest is black. Nagresearch kasi ako sa net bout Six sigma kasi we need to undergo taining po kasi dito sa company namin lahat ng associate required to go thru a training for yellow belt (w/o bond po ha) para sa process improvement and their special program and need pumasa sa Certification (luckily pumasa naman ako). Tapos lahat ng nasa supervisory position from ATL up eh need to take the Green belt Certification (ito po un me bond dito sa co.)...tapos un mga pumasa na for green belt they can take na the black belt. Yun po.

For yellow Certificate me two hours na training tapos me certain minutes to take the exam w/ 15 question, multiple choice siya. I think the passing rate is 80%. Tapos sa Certificate when you finish it eh either pass or fail lang naman ang nakalagay

I was qualified for the yellow belt training last November kaso naubusan ng slots. I can't wait to take it this year and hopefully, I get certified!

Sa amin mandatory for all employees to undergo Six Sigma, we have a Six Sigma trainer in the company kaya mas nakakatipid ang company namin. Pero hindi pa rin ako nakasingit, kasi nung time na magsisix sigma ako, nagkaron naman ako ng new project.

Kaya yung mga super busy sa amin, lagi nareresked ang six sigma. Pero super helpful talaga ito and yung projects sa dito, talagang iniimplement sa company.

I am glad we have this thread. I'm currently working on a project which is my ticket to Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification. I am more focused on the success of my project rather than me getting a certificate cause I have been working on this since April and I don't want the time that I've spent to be put to waste. Hopefully, my project will be implemented soon.
