there's lots of sellers on ebay who sell plus-size clothing...

you can also use spanx underneath to fit into the "medyo masikip" clothes that we often end up with when we gain weight... :)

Sis! I'm a size 14! Yeah, it can be a tad hard looking for sizes that fit us pero madami na ngayon sa dept. store ng plus size aisles.  :)

So okay, just to give you a picture, I'm very curvy. Too curvy. Lol. Especially from the waist down. So here's how I maintain looking fashionable.

Wear A-line skirts, with lots of soft pleats. Make sure the hem hits like an inch below your knee and the waist band is NOT garterized.

Pair it with long tops. Sleeves or no sleeves -- up to you, whichever you're more comfortable with. Better paired with outer wear like an open vest. A long sleeveless cardigan. It lengthens the silhouette.

Don't be afraid of color. Go for solids or small floral prints. No no ang big prints unless it's a dress.

Consider wearing dark tights or opaque stockings with your skirt or dress. Timing, kasi rainy season na. It'll keep you warm.  ;)

Flats or heels, up to you ulit. Advise lang: go with nude toned or light colored shoes. It elongates your leg. Try to avoid straps that go around the ankle. This cuts you off especially if you wear dark shoes. If you're not a fan of cream colored shoes, go for color: aqua blue, coral, mustard. Or metallics: Silver, white gold. Looks classy. Avoid too much accessories with your shoes. Yung mga borloloy na nakasabit sa toe? Lalong pinalaki yung paa kasi. Go for simple cuts. Stream-lined.

Dresses with a cinched waist. Like halter sports dress with a big skirt. Or kung gusto mo shift dress in a dark color. It narrows your silhouette. Consider angled/diagonal necklines. Maybe even greek goddess necklines.

If not a fan of skirts and dresses, try dark wash denim jeans. Boot cut or straight cut. Kung gusto mo mag skinny jeans make sure to pair it with heels para humaba tingnan legs mo. Skinny jeans wrapped on big thighs need all the elongating help they can get e. Hehe.  ;D

Sis! Makeup. To complete the look! Also, accessorize with either big earrings, looong pendant necklace or bracelet. Not all at once ha? Pili ka lang ng isa o dalawa.

And of course, confidence! No matter how fashionable you may dress if wala naman confidence, FAIL pa rin yun.  :o

Try out different looks. See what feels best to you. Develop your own style. One your friends and people can identify you with.

Try checking Forever 21's Faith Line:

http://www.forever21.com/category.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=faith_main&Page=1

It's their catalog for plus size outfits. You may get ideas here for yourself. ^_^

high heels always help... but watch how these look vs your proportion.
Also,  it would not look okay if you appear as if you are tottering.. regardless of your weight.  Even anorexics who wear the new super heels and look pained in them... should cease and desist  (fashion victims)

hi!

i'm one of the many who is unfortunate to be heavy. i'm 36 years old, 5'1" and 168 lbs. :o :'( :-[ (i know it's disgusting!) but i am back to the gym and shifting to a healthier lifestyle to lose the weight. :) wish me luck on this...

i'm seeking for fashion advice as how to look human ;D (translation:good) inspite of the weight. i'm apple-shaped but i have a good chest size and backside. i guess the look that i am looking for is casual but well-put together. my budget is enough to get me a new wardrobe but not enough to hire me a stylist and get a new wardrobe.

help please...any suggestions?

ang galing dun kasi yung mga nag make over medyo on the heavy side din so they really understand the feelings ng mga medyo sa heavy side. yun yung tingin ko hehe and ang galing nila talaga mag make over :)

ok yung mga fashion advice nila dun :)

Blazers often do the trick, then a lacey camisole that nicely frame your decolletage will highlight your asset. Apple-shaped? So it means that at least you have nice legs, wear shorts then cover the rest. A-line skirts is flattering for any body shape, but for petites like us, it is advisable that the length is 2 inches above the knee. What I usually do whenever I feel bloated is to highlight my assets and downplay the rest, and I'd still get compliments that I look sexy. Also, it helps to know the colors that suit you. Neutrals are safe but you'll look better if you match it with your skin undertone. Ako, cool undertone so stark white looks better on me compared to creams. Invest in a wardrobe that has a good quality, iba rin kasi ang bagsak ng tela pag ganun, mas flattering. But of course, since you've been hitting the gym, better limit muna your purchase and just mix and match them because baka within 3 mos. time you'll be a size or 2 smaller  8) Good luck :)

Hi docbubwit!

You know where I love to shop? Preggy mommy shops like Having a Baby and Gingersnaps!

I know it's weird but I'm a heavy girl too and when I go to plus sized shops I get depressed because the clothes are so not stylish at all! Buti pa the preggy clothes... if you choose well, they are really pretty looking!

I am pear shaped and I really don't know how to choose from the hanger if an article of clothing looks good on me. So I just get everything and I just try it on! If I like it, I buy it... if there are several colors of something that is particularly flattering, I buy those colors too. That way, we don't run out of things to wear!

I hope this helps. There's a lot of nice clothes to be had by big girls like us!

Hi girls! I posted na rin sa ibang thread about this... pero ang saya lang kasi i-share!

If you're not shy about shopping in a preggy shop, do it! The clothes are stylish and they fit... Just this evening I picked up a blouse at mommy shop kasi maganda.

Ayoko kasi sa plus-sized shop, hindi maganda and they just highlight our fatness instead of flattering the body.

wear shapewear underneath to smoothen the flabs. There are great brands out there like Spanx, Bali and Heavenly Shapewear that are very comfortable yet still do their job. Ang laki ng difference. :)

I am a size 16 so I am pretty big. But I feel confident when I wear shapeear underneath my regular clothes.

Hello! I'm also a "Malaking Bulas"... But I really think that we could work our way into dressing up like the petite sized girls we know... We just have to figure out our body shape. Then try to hide the flaws and show off our assets.

Before you think I'm some sort of a know it all... I just want to share my experiences when I dress up and when I dress up my mommy dearest. It's up to you if you're going to take my advice or not... But yeah, just want to give you tips to cover our unwanted flaws... Just remember, our flaws shouldn't prevent us from looking and feeling pretty when we go to work or whenever we go out. We're all beautiful girls... So let's show them what we've got!

I love my balakang... Even when I do get big, I still curves because of them. I also love my legs. They may not be skinny... But the men in my life never fails to say a nice thing or two about them. Hahahahaha. We all have to embrace our assets. Doesn't matter if other people love them or not. Who gives a damn about what they think? It's our body! We should love it, and if we believe we have nice legs, then let's show it off... My point is... If you're scared of dressing up just because you think that you're too big, or fat or whatever... YOU SHOULDN'T BE.

I dress up my mother all the time... I've been her personal stylist since I was in High School. And every time she goes out she gets compliments because she always looks put together. She is actually the one who inspired me to become a stylist. And I've never regretted becoming one because of her. Anyway, I would buy all her clothes from Landmark, ShopWise (YES, the big grocery! FYI they have a really nice selection of clothes there... All you have to do is look and try them on! Go! DON'T BE SCARED OF TRYING ON CLOTHES! You'll never know if it'll look good on you or what) and our local Ukay in Pque (OMG, you'll never guess how many boyfriend blazers I found in our ukay... As well as loose cut pants - Perfect for the ladies with big legs... Cover them up and look sophisticated as well. Don't forget to wear really nice round toed wedges - Why Wedges? Us girls who are on the big built side should refrain from wearing stilettos... Think of a tiny thin boyfriend carrying us... That's how it'll look like if you wear kitten heels and super thin heeled shoes!) Anyway, I know you wouldn't believe me when I say I buy from those stores. But I do. But I'm not that thrift. I also buy my mom clothes from Zara and Dorothy Perkins (Perfect store for girls who are on the heavy side because they have variety of sizes!) I would combine all my Zara and Dorothy Perkins finds with all my ukay and Landmark finds... And tadaaaa! Mommy looks like a first lady.

I think it's all in the matter of perspective... PLEASE... WHEN SHOPPING... DON'T GET THE ONES DISPLAYED ON THE MANNEQUINS. If it does look good on them, there is no guarantee it'll look good on you. This is for us big girls and for petite girls as well. ALWAYS REMEMBER: KNOW THY BODY TYPE! Not all trends/looks will look good on you. Don't try to fit yourself into a dress that is two sizes smaller from your original size. I repeat... EMBRACE THE CURVES LADIES!

So here are some must haves when dressing up tips for us bootie-licious ladies out there!
1.) SPANX - Girls in Hollywood use them, why can't we? BUT before buying Spanx from Rustan's... Please know your size first! (http://www.spanx.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=4053793) PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR SIZE FALLS ON THE SHADED AREA, YOU SHOULD GO ONE SIZE UP. You don't want to waste your 3k+++ on nothing right? I suggest you buy the skin tone one... And if you have extra money, buy a black one too. The best Spanx for hiding our "Bilbil" is the HIGHER POWER SPANX... They cover the unwanted bulges area perfectly. With these, you can wear bodycon dresses with ease! :) Spanx is a good investment... I swear by it, my mother swears by it as well. We bought around 3 Spanx and been using them for years... I just love them... Crazy about them even!
But if you don't have enough budget to buy Spanx... Have you ladies ever heard of the brand "GIGI AMOUR" from the SM Department store? They have a body shaper (a la Spanx) as well. Only for 175php... I bought a nude one and a black one. I haven't used my black one yet, but I use the nude one all the time. I looove it. It feels just like my Spanx, and since it's still new... It hugs better. Say goodbye to bilbils!!!

2.) Boyfriend Blazers... If you could invest on one... But one! Don't be ashamed of wearing them. I seriously think some girls are just shy or weary about wearing blazers in public. Ladies, get a black of BOYFRIEND Blazers... Or if you have a brother, borrow their old blazers. Then fold the sleeves and look your outfit more sophisticated and chic. I borrow long sleeved shirts from my brothers all the time. I just fold the sleeves and wear them with worn-out denim shorts and a ten belt plus nude slippers... Tadaaa! Chic outfit for a lunch out with friends! Borrow from your brothers or dads even. Just don't forget to bring them back after! ;)

3.) Straight cut pants - Buy them in wool or pinstripe. They will make you look chic... Especially when you wear them with a dressy top and a pair of really pretty wedges.

4.) Wedges & stacked heel shoes... Please look up what tacked heels are on Google... Then look around the mall and invest on a pair. Buy them in black, red and nude... Gray and Tan if you have extra money. I swear by them ladies... No need to worry about embarrassing yourselves when running on an errands. These shoes are divinely comfortable. AND when buying wedges... Buy the round toe pumps ones... I think the store Leaveland has them... Like super cheap. Plus the multiply store http://fivebyfive.multiply.com/ I looove them! I am still waiting for my pair though... But yeah, avoid buying the Ratan ones... Especially if you're going to wear them to work.

5.) Large Elastic belts... Wear them when you think the dress is not giving justice to your curvy figure. Buy a super loose men's blouse and then use these babies and let them work their magic. Add up a long strand of lariat pearl necklace... And tadaaaa! :)

6.) Accessories... Avoid buying chockers that will show off your double chins... Buy lariats or long necklaces, then wear them inside your button down long sleeved shirt. You will look like an executive in a second.

7.) Dark-colored dresses... Buy dresses that are an inch below the knee... Or an inch above the knees if your upper body is proportioned to your lower body... Meaning if you have skinny legs but you have a big tummy and big torso, don't buy above the knee skirts/dresses. The idea is making you look together and sophisticated. Not show off your freakishly thin legs... Believe me. This is if you don't want to be refereed to as Lollipop or Chicken Legs.

8.) Big bags/purses... Oversized clutches and purses are in season anyway... Why not get one? I looove my Marc Jacobs Nylon tote. It is my favorite bag when going out to meet up friends. I'm always being teased for always bringing all my things around. I mean just get one for work and one for going out. Don't you notice how small girls buy enormous bags? Because somehow it makes them a lot smaller... Then what if we big girls use 'em? :)

Woaaahhh... I think I'm about to post my longest reply ever... It's been years since I last logged in here! I missed this! I used to have another username but unfortunately I forgot the password. I used to sell my stuff online... Hahahahaha. So yeah, forgive me for being so talkative. I just tend to just say a lot of things especially when I'm in the mood. Hahahahahaha.

Anyway, I posted an entry similar to this (Or more like a much detailed version of this reply) on my blog. Please do drop by and let me know what you think/feel about my reply!

I promise to log in as often now! Hope I was able to help! :)

Went to Fashion 21 at Megamall, the selection of plus size is not much but the price range is very affordable.
