count me in. Im 30 with one daughter still doesn't know what to do in life. I know I wanted to be sucessful but in what field? So hard to decide esp now i feel my time is running out since in need to starting building a stable future for my kid. Once, i had a business and i earned a lot from it but the money i was able to saved was scammed. From that time, up until now i think it still have an impact on me. i lost confidence in myself. Its so hard to pick up the pieces. Goodluck on all of us. Hope we can see a brighter future ahead :)

I'm 26 this year, still don't know what I want to do with my life. Career-wise, super no idea kasi I never liked my college course. Nasanay ako na tumulong sa family business. Right now sa fam biz ako, but I don't really like it. Parang napipilitan lang ako, but I really want to help my parents. And hindi ko hilig magmanage ng business. Weird, but feel ko ako lang ata sa mundo na walang interest na magkaroon ng business and magmanage nun. Siguro 1 reason din why I don't like to have my own business because of the corruption. corruptions from the customs, suppliers and even customers.

Same case kami ng friend ko. sabi namin, maging housewife na lang kami. ang problem, wala kaming boyfriend so wala kaming asawa. hahahahaha

@sis mirandakerr: how old ka na sis? its never too late naman na bumalik sa pag-aaral e.. dito kasi saten mahilig magdiscriminate mga tao, san ka nag-aral, ano natapos mo.. yung ganun.. sa ibang bansa di naman ganun. culture na ata yan saten. kaya kung dito mo gusto magsucceed dapat gawin mo kung ano yung tingin mo magbibigay ng advantage sayo. basta sis never lose sight on what you really want. kung meron na ha, o mahanap mo na.. hehe. dont settle for less. tapos gawin mo ang lahat para makuha yung gusto mo. kaya mo yan sis!

ako, bilang TS, masasabi ko na unti unti ko ng nakikita yung gusto ko. onti lang. yung tipong alam ko na yung mga ayaw ko, at kahit papano my specific na goal na ko.. kaya pag mejo palpak at nagf-fail kaya ko ulit bumangon at i-target ulit yung goal na yun. kahit puro back up plans na lang hanggang sa ma-mit mo din yun! nakakatuwa din kapag nakakasama mo yung mga taong makakainspire sayo na maging successful, parang you want to be like them or even better. ngayon alam ko na kung sang industry ko gusto mag-stay. hehe. sana tuloy2 na! yung tipong pati work malaman ko na din! hehe!

I've been in this situation before, I tried a lot of things/job, may related sa course ko merong hindi.  In fact this is my 10th job and I'm not even 40.  Rolling stone ako nung bata pako until I found a job where I stayed for almost 10 years.

Let me share two things I learned:

1. Find a Mentor  - Dumating ako sa point ng career life ko na hindi ko alam kung ano talaga ang gusto ko talaga, until I found MENTORS.  This changed my life.  Sabi nga sa isang movie na napanood ko (but I don't remember the title anymore, parang "Wall Street" yata) in one's life you should find yourself a mentor and an apprentice.  A mentor to look up to and an apprentice to lead. May guide ka and you have someone who will remind you that there is solution to your problems, kase sila nga nalampasan nila yung problems nila. So lagi kang motivated.  If you made it na, you have to pay it forward.  Get an apprentice.  Somebody to guide and someone who will inspire you to continue to grow.  Hindi mo kailangan maging matanda o super successful para maishare what little you have.  Basta you have something, ishare mo sa apprentice mo para mamotivate kang mag-acquire ng bagong knowledge or skills, so you can continue to share.

The other thing I learned is...
2. Do not rely on your 'day job' alone for your own 'fulfillment'. Then I realize that my job will never fulfill me as a person, kase my job is suppose to 'finance' my other fulfilling activities. Though, there are jobs that can lead to self-actualization, like being an author, designers, artist, etc. pero dapat gawin mo to without thinking of compensation. Halimbawa, gustong gusto mong ng photography, pero ikaw ay isang accountant, be an accountant in the morning then involve yourself sa photo club, or umattend ka ng photo seminar pag week end.

me too.. i'm also starting to pass resume to few companies. this is my first job hunt since i graduated in 2009. i have a small business but i need to work now to augment my income.

konti plang napapasahan ko ng resume kasi i still don't have enough confidence to apply for work at almost 2years ako nalipasan magapply ng job.
now, i'm not yet sure to what field i want to pursue.. i'm a tourism graduate and i'm applying for marketing jobs, business dev't and maybe hotels..

but at least now, i have set my priorities:
1. salary (i really need it now for i'm a single mom)
2. experience
3. socialization/networking

i hope more discernments will come :)

it's nice to know that i am not alone. i am blessed that i have a high paying job but sometimes i drag myself to work. sometimes i can't bring myself to go to work. i wanted to leave i just don't know where to go.
i'll pray that someday we'll get where we are supposed to be. i'll pray that someday we'll go to work and feel like home. Keep the faith. :)

Sissies, start a blog, and write about your everyday experiences. Sabi nga ng friend ko, you'll know what you're most passionate about by writing with your heart. Or keep a diary if you don't feel like airing your story.

Don't compare yourself with other people. They have their issues too. That's why I think social networks, like Facebook, are a source of insecurities and depression. Because as competitive beings, we tend to compare our achievements with others, whether we want to or not. People only upload photos that illustrate the good aspects in their lives, very rarely do they share their dirty laundry. You won't know what they have or had to go through, just to get to where they are now.

I think everyone goes through this "thinking" one way or another. Ganun din naman ako paminsan minsan. But I simply view it like a relationship. Either you work with it, or one gives up.

Maybe it's not that you don't know what you want. Maybe it's just hindrances that's keeping you from doing what you want. Expenses ba yan? Responsibilities? Fears? Qualifications?

Just think.... if you had all the money in the world, and you have no one to answer to, no responsibilities, what would you like to do most? How do you visualize yourself?  :)

I don't really consider myself successful as well, but I'm really trying hard, everyday, to prove that I can do better. I hope I make sense somehow.  :)

Kaya don't worry mga sis naniniwala ako na everything will fall into the right place, faith lang.

^ thanks sis   :)

sis airish_2 , actually wala nga akong facebook eh. yung hubby ko meron, so nakishare nalang ako. Hindi namin ina-update yung facebook, kaya yung mga friends namin, hanggang ngayun clueless siguro how we are doing at this point in our lives. Bad or good, I think we are always perceived as neutral, kasi we are just quiet about everything lang naman. :)

Sometimes matatawa ka nalang, na si ganyan may photos with matching descriptions "coffee in Paris", or "sale shopping in singapore". tapos kung ano ano pa mga sinasabi... hehe. quiet ka nalang.  ;D

In my case, I don't allow something like this to make me feel kawawa. Pero it doesn't mean wala akong na-aachieve sa buhay. Nagugulat nalang yung iba, pag bumisita sa bahay, makita nalang nila ang dami kong pictures around the world.  Tameme ever. ;D

Alam nyo yun?

"sana makapagtravel din ako gaya nila ganito..."
"sana makabili rin ako ng bag like hers..."
"sana may work din ako na enjoy gaya ni.."

We daydream of how good another person's life must be. We tend to create an imaginary world for these people, and we build it so perfectly that our own lives seem to pale in comparison. Then we start to feel bad, and sometimes we try to imitate others in hopes that it would work for us the same way that it did for them. We're merely trying to copy their success.  :)

amen to this! I'm guilty of this for the longest time. Now, I'm starting to realize I need to work on myself. Before, lagi nasa isip ko is sana maging sucessful ako to this and that para mas mataas ako kay ganito, mas maganda gamit ko, mas malaki income ko etc. Right after graduation naging successful ako, I'm d type who really made it at an early age, ako yun tipong kinaiingitan then one incident, nawala savings ko. That made a huge impact on me, I didn't took it lightly until it dragged me down and made me insecure in all aspects. Problems came one after the other. Now I'm starting to focus more on a stable foundation, I want to study again. Wala ako money but I decided I will sell my car or the watch my mom gave me when I graduated in college to finance my post diploma or Masteral (plans pa lang to ha, im still weighing my options) Naisip ko kc, if maging successful ako dito, magkakaron ako stable future, I can buy another car if ever or a more beautiful watch plus stability para samin ng baby ko (im a seperated mom). I'm finding myself and the Lord. I want to find my inner peace plus lots of patience sa mga gagawin ko. I wanted to become successful and ipapamalaki ko sya after, not to compare or magyabang sa iba, but to serve as an inspiration sa mga tulad ko ngayon. Someone whose self esteem is at lowest point pero made it after all. I know its a long road and super hirap but at this point i don't have a choice. It either mahirapan ako walang nangyayari or mahirapan ako mag possibility mag pay off. Goodluck to us!

this is so true. yung friend ko coined a term for that "digital peer pressure" kaya i seldom check my facebook na. di naman sa pagiging inggitera. of course i'm happy rin sa achievement ng friends ko but sometimes, it adds pressure for you to be better. lalo na nung naging single ako, tapos biglang ang updates ng mga friends puro relationship- blahblah is engaged, is married etc. tas ikaw, biglang from in a relationship to single.

hahah

"Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea about their sufferings. (Coelho) And what you see posted on FB are exaggerated. (Mine)"

I extended a quote from Paulo Coelho as a reaction to what I've been reading sa FB status ng mga "Fb Friends" ko.
