May nag propose! :-) weeeeee. After this dilemma, i told him once, na baka may problema kami at hindi siya makapag ask, sabi nya wala daw. And about the boracay pala, it was not the boracay per se. It was the thought na kaya kong sumunod sa decisions niya. Anyway, I did not bring up the issue, lived life again, but stopped working on the wedding details. sabi niya, di ko na daw follow up yung details, sabi ko lang, lie low muna, \You and I might not be ready..so yun...
All this time, he was cooking something up and when time comes, hindi niya tinutuloy kasi daw baka hindi ako masurprise.
So kanina, out of the blue, he texted me, sabi niya, his good friend and wife wants to meet up with me daw. Manlilibre daw sila ng dinner. So fly naman ako agad. Sabi niya, kumuha lang daw ng stocks for their store. I understand naman kasi they just do business here. So we were talking, just like the usual, when he told me to eat dinner na lang kasi matatagalan sila. Tapos, the waiter brought in tea. Nagtaka na ako kasi it was supposed to be a light meal. to make long story short, he told me na may dala siyang dessert(classic I know!), it was a mini cake, and in it is a ring with a diamond. Natawa ako kasi , nung kinuha ko na ang cake, pinafeel niya heartbeat niya, kasinlakas as 10 years ago nung nanliligaw pa siya. and he asked me the magic question. I said YES of course.
At first, hindi ko napansin how pretty the ring was kasi i was touched by his mini speech. tumutulo na luha ko, nagsitinginan na magkabilang tables.
later, narealize ko that the ring has been passed on from his mother. It was the prettiest and in it was engraved our "love vow", natouch ako ng bongga, pati nanay nya may special participation sa kinaparaningan kong engagement.

Life, you never fail to surprise me...:-)

i personally think it is not. Pero I think, nasa personality ni hubby iyun ganoon. Before our 8th month, nag-propose with ring.

it depends on the kind of couple you are.

for us, yes, it was important. we were in a long distance relationship and we wanted that reminder that we were engaged and working towards a goal (marriage). more than that, we always knew that we wanted a simple, austere wedding, so in the spirit of following tradition, my husband got me a ring. it wasn't a very, very expensive ring but it was of a significant amount. he got it on sale during the sale season in the states and because he had a buddy who worked for the jewelry place, may extra discount pa. we went to dinner, the 2 of us lang and he proposed. no theatrics, no gimiks. just a simple, "marry me" and i said "yes". later that evening, he gave my mom the certificate for the ring (diamond certificate yata. parang ewan. natuwa naman nanay ko LOL)

I think a proposal is important (does not necessarily have to come with a ring) and only proper. I mean the guy did ask at one point in time for you to become his girlfriend, why wouldn't it apply to asking for your hand in marriage?

In my case, we would talk about the possibility of getting married, a date, where, etc. But when we would start discussing details I would stop and tell him, "Why are we discussing this? Is this official? You haven't asked me something yet"  ;D He got the hint and officially proposed

Very important. Putting a diamond in the woman's finger means the man is investing something on the relationship, esp. if the ring is worth a lot of money.

for me, its not really that important, what matters is your partner's intention and willingness of marrying you.

Sabi ni father during our seminar - very important daw ang proposal kasi dito na mag start ang COVENANT nyo with each other. COVENANT talaga kasi you have to be loyal and faithful sa partner mo. ;D

ako, i was realllllyyyyy decided na if he doesn't propose to me and give me at least a 1.5carat ER, i won't marry him lols! pero i found out he is going to build our dream house na this year. 1000sqm lot, 1400sqm floor area, i was floored. so wala na akong paki sa ER. =) or kahit .5 carat masaya na ako lols!

I'm sure the priest who said that has a deeper meaning of "proposal". As what he said, its a covenant with each other, a promise to be loyal and faithful, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be very fancy and cheesy with all the kneeling-down-let-everyone-know scenarios and karat-studded ER.

Yup the priest has a deeper meaning of "proposal" and I'm glad h2b has the same perception  ;). And yes it doesn't have to be a "Flashy/Cheesy" thingy. Sincere and Honest proposal is the best. It's the thought that counts ika ka nga.  ;D

TS shared her "dream proposal" and she asked if importante ba talaga ito or dapat maging masaya na sya kasi nag prepare na sila ng wedding - IMO - it is important  ;D but doesn't have to be "flashy/cheesy" nga  ;D

told my fiance that the proposal is more important to me than the wedding because it will signify his willingness to marry me. Yung wedding kasi, both of you will plan it. Yung proposal, sya lang. it meas a lot to me because it means that he wants to marry me out of his own free will. hehe...

and up until now, kinikilig pa din ako thinking about that night.

my hubby proposed to me less than 3 weeks before the wedding... hahaha weird noh... basta last year we just started planning, but of course we knew from the start that we wanted to get married. So after kaming kausapin ng mother in law ko, nagplan na kami sabay email na si hubby sa dad ko since nasa abroad sya.

kahit late na kilig pa rin. sabi nga its better to late than never.  :D
