Schools in Antipolo

hi mga sis, ask lang ako kung alin ang better in terms of education and tuition fee----i have 3 kids, incoming gr. 7, 5, and 4 so medyo bantay ako sa budget.

i'm considering st. clare, olps, and antipolo immaculate conception school.

na-try ko na rich golden shower (for 2 years) and spi (1 year) and di ako happy sa teaching nila, medyo mababa ang standard and marami silang extra expenses so kahit mababa tuition mapapamahal ka din.

of course i could always say "no" to field trips and other unnecessary and non-compulsory activities pero as much as possible ayaw ko nang magmukhang kontrabida.

bottom line, gusto kong school yung tutok sa pag-aaral, no assignments on weekends, kung may activities man yung within the area and NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS.

i realize medyo marami akong kaartehan pero tingin ko with today's economy reasonable naman yung huwag masyadong magastos, di ba? para naman may matira kung gustong maglibang o lamierda minsan-minsan

If you are looking for a school that cares more on academics and values, affordable tuition fee, I may suggest Daughters of St. Dominic school in nayon silangan subd. My 2 girls been in 2 schools in the past , but never happy with it, until I enrolled them in St. Dominic. The school is small but they are expanding since they open grade1 last year, and will have grade2 this year. Last year, Tution fee was 16,500 for preschools and 26,500 for grade1.Dominican  Nuns run the school . They have quiz bee, coloring contest, declamation English and Filipino.

I think highschool's tuition fee is ranging from 70-80k, and yes, it depends on the parent's income.

My child is studying there, not more than 20kids sa class nia with 2 teachers and an aid. Virtudes has very nice facilities and very child friendly environment. Kaso she doesnt know how to read yet which is very important na for incoming prep. Still, im confused pa din kase she likes the school. Any school suggestions for incoming prep? Thanks!

Have you inquired in KCLC? My child is enrolled there. Junior Kinder this coming School Year. (Levels are: Toddlers, Nursery, Pre-Kinder, Junior Kinder and Senior Kinder). Di ko lang sure how they accept students pag nasa Prep na. But if you're considering enrolling her for a summer class, try them too.

Pre-K nila, my child was able to read all their sight words, 3 to 4 letter-words (e.g. LAMP, BUMP, etc.). Kahit words like FROZEN kaya na basahin. KCLC focuses on Reading and Math. They promote good partnership with parents. Before the closing of the school year, my child was able to do math like addition, subtraction and fraction. They are not only into academics, they teach and assess their students based on motor skills, kid's strengths and weaknesses, being a better person, how to be responsible, letting them explore.. Dami ko nagustuhan sa school na yun. Kasama na dun yung hindi sila magastos. Tuition fee might be a bit expensive, but I'm sure you get what you paid for. It's definitely worth it. Kaya pati parents very active and always participates in school activities. Yung tuition nila, yun na yun. Kung may bayaran man during the school year, very minimal unlike other schools na kung ano-ano hinihingi.

Really? Friendly teachers... That is a plus for me... I'm an educator and I know Reading is not necessary for preschoolers... Good environment and teachers... I am sold. Thanks for the info.

I had a not so good experience with KCLC. They need to work on establishing good relationships with parents who are interested to enroll their kids in their institution. Bottomline is, we were asked to wait for almost an hour on the day of the assessment, and was passed along between Ms Ana and Teacher Lala with regards to the reservation. Not to sound bitchy, but I had the money to pay for the tuition for an entire year, yet they insisted to wait for reservations from their existing students. I understand that they may have SOPs, but it's never fair for a parent to be asked to wait for weeks with little assurance of getting a slot. Not good.

I went for Marcelli School on Marigman Road near Unciano Hospital. It's a progressive school. There are only 12 students per class, and the school grounds look nice. To top it all, Teacher Joanna was very accomodating. School fees are already inclusive of tuition, misc, books, notebooks and PE uniform.

Sad to hear you had bad experience with them. I'm not sure why they did that but based on my observation, last school year lang biglang dumami yung students nila from 120 to 170. Pinakamarami nila yung Pre-K levels (normally, eto yung parang salaan stage nila). 2 sections lang yung SK nila (which I think are their old students lang talaga). If JK or SK na dapat yung kid mo, yan siguro yung possibility kung bakit hindi nila naaccept. Just my cent.

How much yung tuition sa Marcelli? Anong level na ng kid mo? Any other schools you have inquired? Nagbabasa-basa na rin kasi ako ng reviews from other schools in preparation for her Grade School.

Any gradeschool na limited lang ang student per class. Kahit gang 20 per class. Lahat kase ng napupuntahan ko more than 25 students per class.

Still new to this forum but already I have learned a lot by backreading some of the posts.

Regarding Antipolo schools, we have done a few research and oculars to some of the schools near our area (along Sitio Parugan) because our eldest will be going to school this June (preschool), and here is what I already know:

Georgia Academy
 - Pros: Facilities are quite good, and will be improved more due to them moving to a bigger location in the future. The director was very accommodating and was able to answer all our queries. Preschool class population is around 1:15. Classroom setup is very appropriate for preschoolers (small chairs and tables, play area and comfort room inside the rooms).
 - Cons: TF is quite steep at around P40,900 annual, and this does not include books and uniform

Holy Spirit Integrated School
 - Pros: My son actually attended their Summer Fun program last year, and based on that we experienced their teaching technique first hand for one week. The teachers are very hands-on and patient with handling the toddlers. The facilities are somewhat dated, but they are in the process of constructing an add-on building adjacent to the old building. TF is affordable at P19,195 annual, but again does not include books and uniform. Student to teacher ration is 1:15 (or higher depending on their enrollments)
 - Cons: Although the addition of the new building is a welcome sight, I am still concerned with safety issues since, even if the area is blocked and cordoned off, there is always a small possibility of injuries or accidents stemming from any area with construction ongoing

Marcelli School Antipolo
 - Pros: Teacher Joanna was very accommodating, and was able to alleviate many of our questions regarding the school and their curriculum. The school is quite old, but it is very spacious and ideal for kids to play outside activities. The classroom is halved between their "play" and "study/activity" areas. Student to teacher ratio is around 1:15
 - Cons: this school so far is the most expensive of the lot at a whopping P50,845 annual, but already includes books and a set of PE uniform. They are currently installing airconditioning units on each classrooms, which explains the sudden increase from P47,000 annual

Daughters of St. Dominic
 - Pros: The lessons are taught by nuns, which naturally will included values education and religion (which for me is a plus since I was schooled exclusively from catholic schools). The student to teacher ration is maxed at 1:15. TF is at P20,000 (still without books and uniform yet)
 - Cons: The facility is "kind" of small, and we were unable to tour the classrooms because they were in the process of updating and cleaning the areas
