« on: February 09, 2010, 05:41:18 pm »
Fellow OFW, please share your investments or business sa pinas while working abroad..

I was able to watched in TFC ( forgot the show ) that OFW should try investing or putting up a business habang OK pa ang kita aborad, para di mawalan ng kabuluhan ang pinagpapagurang pera..

Please share your business knowledge and what kind of business / investment you have right now while living & working abroad...

ako din interested eh pero parang mahirap gawin ito .. ive thought of mutual funds... parang stocks yun pero parang ang hirap aralin ... may separate thread for this..

investment siguro buy lots, properties tapos kung meron naman kayo mapagkakatiwalaan pwede magfranchise then dapat meron mag run nung business kaso dapat talaga hands on sa business para maensure na smooth sailing hindi ba.

siguro safest thing to do is to buy properties or things that will appreciate the value para meron ka another alternative kapag nawalan ng work abroad..

Mga success stories, normally siguro pag asawa ang nagmamanage on the behalf of the OFW.  Pero hindi din lahat.  Kadalasan nalulusaw ang capital.

As for the lots and properties, puede din. :o

so para sakin, kung magb-business man ako, mas mabuti siguro magbusiness sideline kung asan ako.  puede mag buy and sell, etc.  as a sideline, on weekends or internet.

If you want to trade stocks, you can try...

www.citiseconline.com

For property investment, buy a condominium or a lot inside a gated community.

^ regarding stocks, isa pa yan.  pag nagtrade ka, laging nanghuhula kasi you wont have the time to monitor which company is doing what. unless may time ka. or you are a broker yourself para alam mo where to go.

Pero kahit na ganito, lagi ko kasi nakikita mga negative sides, maybe my net worth could have been more kasi conservative ako sa mga investments ko.  pero am proud to say naman na puede na kami magretire at an early age of 40yo if we want to.  ayoko palang nga kasi marami pa puede mangyari, again, better to be ultra conservative  ;)

Ang experience ko naman sa stocks...
Stocks:

Dividends + Capital Appreciation

But of course, , you have to learn technical analysis before buying any stocks to guide you when to enter & exit.

Banks:
Pwede ring hanap kayo ng bank na malaki interest, Time deposit for 5 years- ZERO tax with at least 5% interest net.  Pag mas malakas loob, lagay sa Rural Bank, as high as 8% pa net for 5 years.

Philippines T bills or Bonds- ok din,  they fetch around 5% pa

Property

Gold- pwedeng actual gold or ETFs

Long term fixed investments also.  (nasa fixed side kasi ako)
- Mutual funds on fixed investments (pero medyo turn off ako on some recently)
- RoPs
- maya't maya minsan nag-o-offer ang mga banks ng special investments (BPI, Metro, etc) - subordinated notes ng mga companies.  they range 5-10 years, minsan may 15 years din.

On my case naman, i have invested 250k php sa business ng brother in law ko... and I will earn dividends... Sabi niya our 250K can double in 1 - 2 years, not sure how, pero sana nga....

My friend abroad just bought a condominium here in the fort.  It's one her investments while she's still earning well abroad.  She's looking for a tenant and I guess extra income yun for her.

If you have a husband, sister or brother who can manage a business for you.  That's one investment you can get into.  Get a franchise that you believe in.  Talk to the owner or the product development manager to know more about the ROI, terms of investments, capital, etc needed to make the business successful :-*

1. long term investments. lbc bank offers 6% interest (pls verify) per annum on their long-term time deposit with a holding period of five years.
2. invest in small businesses. just make sure you trust your partners. as much as possible have a written contract/agreement. usually ang nangyayari samin is a relative or a friend needs funds for a business and maginvest kami ng konti (hindi naman namin popondohan lahat). nasa usapan nyo yan kung pautang with interest or prang shareholder ka dun sa business nya
3. you can invest in some property like lot/h&l/condo as long as your gut tells you its a good one. we got a studio in avida san lazaro since we wanted to start small. as of now [textspeak!] value nya nag-appreciate na nang 40% nung nabili namin sya.

^sa mga for sale na area sa lugar mo na makikita mo sa classifieds sa newspaper or internet and also dun sa property/development seller. like sa avida san lazaro if you bought a studio in their tower1/2 nung preselling sya around 1M ang TCP nang isang studio. they are now preselling tower5 and a studio there (same size) costs 1.6M na. usually if your area is near a busy mall, school, office magaappreciate talaga ang value nyan
