Our pedia prescribed Atopiclair for my child's flare-ups. Has anybody used this?

Can you please recommend a good pedia-derma intellicare accredited near manila or qc. Bumabalik na naman kase un eczema ng son ko, worried lang ako kase yung dry skin nya nasa ilalim ng eyes nya (eyebag) . TIA

If you're thinking of Mustela, It's the Stelatopia cream. Mas watery ito kaysa normal lotion ng Mustela.I use it on my daughter as a more "daily care" regimen kaysa topical cortisones.kahit pa sabihing mild,baby formula, half strength, etc... steroid pa rin yon and ayoko ng matagalang gamit ng steroids.I used this on her inner elbow kasi dun lang naman may patchy skin ng eczema. Nawala naman siya, thank God. malaki yung tube ng Mustela, konti konti lang pahid ko at dahil na yung patchy skin,I stopped using it na, naka-stock lang JIC bumalik. 200 ML ang Stelatopia vs. 300 ML ang HydraBebe (yung lotion). If I remember it right , may cleanser din ang Stela-line (I think it's named Stelaker but 'm not very sure on this) na good to use pag may flare ups daw. akala ko pag lumamig dito sa Aussie mawawala na eczema niya, hindi rin pala. kahit malamig meron din.mas matindi lang pag mainit.

yung bebe girl ko may skin asthma din..Lactacyd toddler sabon nya, bawal masyadong eggs, chicken soya sa kanya..buy pa ako ng cetaphil lotion for her..

nabasa ko po sa isang blog about pure glycerin. it worked for my 8th month old son. his using it for almost 3 mos. na and so far so good...

yung son ko na 7 mos na ngayon is also using milea's itcho oil for skin asthma. malaki ang improvement ng skin nya. nag start lumabas mga rashes since nung 2 mos sya. dati ang gamit namin sa kanya is cetaphil restoraderm lotion and wash, desowen cream, then sa face is physiogel AI cream at cortizone. kaya lang i heard nga na di maganda ang long term na pag gamit ng creams with steroid. gumamit din sya ng aveeno baby for eczema. tapos from NAN HA milk nag shift din kami to NUTRAMIGEN. medyo costly lang pero na lessen ang rashes ni baby.

my baby's pedia recommends azerra cleanser, lotion and cream. May nakagamit na ba ng ganto? dry kasi skin ni baby at ang dami nyang rashes ngaun sa paa.

When i was younger may hika ako taz naalala ko parang may mga skin asthma ako nung bata, butlig sa paa, kamay at leeg..

Now naman simula ata nagcollege ako, nagka nummular eczema ako! Waa mga 4 years na ata to, hindi ko na alam.. Ewan dahil sa stress at pagkain or pati environment. Huhu
Dami ko na ginamit, cetaphil, physiogel, dove. May time dati araw araw antihistamine ko.

Anyway, napakapanget ng legs ko na. Nahihirapan na ako hindi na ako makashorts kasi sa dark peklat.. Hay tamad kasi ako maglotion. Pero sabon ko now tea tree oil soap then physiogel lotion, tapos dermovate ako mamaya, may mga sugat ako na ayaw mawala habang hindi ko nilalagyan eh kaya maglalagay na naman ako waaa nasusunog skin ko

Hindi ko mahanap yung thread pang nummular, meron po ba?

My baby had rashes sa face, Desowen ang prinescribe and once a day lang nilalagay. after 3 days, significant improvement talaga and hindi na bumalik

Used and bought sooooo many anti asthma (from the US and beyond). Eve used natural, or Aveeno!

Derma topical steroids has stopped working. So, Derma asked me to take Predinisone with Ketoconazole/Mupiricin ointment. Got worse and sobrang devastated na ako.

Sharing lang this... because this was the ONLY lotion that helped me. Accidental pa pagbili ko and it was available lang dito in Pinas lang pala! At kung saan saan pa akong bansa nagpabili or bumili ng pagka mahal mahal na mga creams/lotions. Even Aveeno or Keri Lotions for me was to harsh (or Oatmeal wash!).

I am now using Physiogel by Stiefel! I put 2x a day sa affected area ko. Walang sting bec it is totally perfume, alcohol free Aveeno stings on my skin asthma.

Nagulat ako, kasi eto lang talaga ang nag work on my skin asthma after 3 years of bearing with it. Nag start sa dot till na cover na entire right foot ko. But, now... it's a LOT better.

hi... my son has skin asthma too. tried lots and lots of lotions, steroid creams, he had it since he was 3months old. visited few dermas and pedias. sobrang nkka depressed and it really breaks my heart seeing him like this. to make it worst, his eczema is mostly on his face, as in his WHOLE face! naiiyak nalang ako pagising ko sa umaga na nadagdagan na naman red spots nya sa face, sawa nadin ako mag explain sa ibang tao who's asking about his condition,or saying "ay bat nag ka ganyan.." ang feeling ko lagi, pabaya akong mommy.haay my son's situation has been giving me so much depression.. and sa kanya na nauubos ang sweldo ko. but still i'm a mom and i'm not stopping to find solutions that can help.. yun lang minsan nakakapagod din. my husband thinks i'm over reacting..so,i can't expect any support from him. as of now, i'm going to bring him today sa allergologist, pls pray for us. i'l let you know what happens next.pray pray pray...

My 2 kids have skin asthma.  Different degrees and manifestations.
Ang pinaka-easy na solution is to put them in an airconditioned room - basta't malamig ang kwarto, wala silang masyadong rashes.

In case they do have rashes, I have two doctors that says:
Doctor ONE - He says to put medicine.  Kami nasanay kami sa steroid creams, it works naman.  yun lang there are parents who are waey.  Pero ako, sanay na ako.  As long as they get better, ok ang sa akin.

Doctor TWO- She says to control muna like put lotion and make sure moisturized ang skin.  it doesn't need to be an expensive brand of lotion, as long as it works, yan ang gamitin.  We use a very gentle steroid cream and put it on WHEN NEEDED.  She also mentioned na if the rash naman comes and goes, no need to put meds.  IF THE RASH stays for a long time and dumadami - thats the time to apply the meds.

What both my kids use na lotion is St. Ive's.  My daughter uses the daily hydrating while my son uses the oatmeal+shea.

BTW - I went to see an allergologist and walang kwenta   alam ko na yng foods to avoid.  sayang effort to go.  but baka kasi, bulok rin yung doctor na pinuntahan ko

My son has skin asthma also.. He is using elocom lotion when needed. For maintenance, we tried  Aveeno lotion pero feeling ko hindi enough ang aveeno sakanya.. Then one time, we accidentally bought this Vaseline lotion, yung color white.. feeling ko mas hiyang sa anak ko.

MEdyo OT lang, how much ang magpa skin test dyan sa pinas?

don't use steroids on your babies please! just use natural products like burts bees, california baby, or mustela. i agree ok ang stelatopia cream. i'm not a fan of aveeno, nagworsen skin ng baby ko dito.

Skineal ointment is actually a steroidal ointment. It is composed of clobetasol proprionate, ketoconazole and neomycin sulfate. Clobetasol is a very potent steroid (one of the pinakamatapang na steroid) so please, do not use it on babies or very young children.
Topical steroids are the mainstay of treatment for atopic dermatitis or skin asthma, but please, please, do not self medicate. There is a proper way of using steroids with regards to application and length of time and your pedia/derma/allergo is the best person to determine when a topical steroid is needed and for how long.
Also, if you want to avoid using topical steroids, then make sure that your child's skin is well hydrated with moisturizing. Kahit pa more than 4 x a day mag moisturize, ok lang.
Please read up on ingredients of products you want to use before buying them or using it for your children and always ask your doctors if it is safe for use in kids.

if you are using topical steroids for you and your children, chances are they may be suffering from topical steroid addiction where eczema won't heal for a long time unless you put steroids on them. Read on about it on itsan.org or google "Topical steroid addiction".

my daughter suffered from it, no thanks to the doctors who did nothing but prescribe steroids on her.

kaya my advise to you mga sis, go all-natural with your babies! please lang, staw away from harmful drugs and harsh chemicals, kawawa mga bata.

I'm sorry but just because it is natural and organic, it doesn't mean that it is 100% safe or free from adverse reactions. All biological agents, whether synthetic or natural, has the potential for adverse reactions. This is the reason why when a patient goes to us for an adverse drug reaction, we also ask about herbal/natural supplements.

Let me just enumerate a few:

a. Honey - should not be given to a child less than 12 months of age since it may cause botulism poisoning

b. Echinacea - may cause fever, nausea, vomiting, dizziness; it may also cause allergic reactions that range from a mild rash to anaphylaxis; If rubbed on the skin, it may also cause redness, swelling and itchiness

c. Barley - can cause allergic reactions, asthma attacks, etc. A patient of mine who took this developed severe asthma attacks each time he took the barley supplement. The asthma attacks stopped when he stopped taking barley

d. Wheat grass - may cause nausea and dizziness

e. Bee pollen products - risk of anaphylaxis

f. Chinese herbal medications - cases of Stevens Johnson syndrome and Toxic epidermal necrolysis

Judicious use of medications and supplements is the key to proper management.
Just because you were given topical steroids at one point doesn't mean that you will have "addiction" as the Itsan site describes. In fact, what they are describing are side effects of prolonged steroid use,not "addiction" symptoms. Sorry, but I wish Itsan would use the money they get from their non profit organization in performing randomized clinical trials that the scientific community will be able to accept and not just rely on diary blogs.
Atopic dermatitis is triggered by a combination of allergic and non -allergic triggers. Identification of these triggers either by a good history or by skin testing should be the 1st step in management followed by avoidance of triggers. Patient education is also very important since the patients need to understand that the symptoms would appear on and off if there is exposure to triggers.
If you are able to avoid the triggers, then the rashes will not keep coming back.

I use steroidal medication for my daughter's major flare-ups with the advise of the pedia.

Doc Lelet, have you encountered adverse reaction from VCO? That's what I use to moisturize my child's skin now, and so far it's working.

doc lelet, with due respect, i beg to disagree that topical steroid addiction is only applicable for prolonged use. i know you are a doctor and only few doctors recognize this "illness". my then 2 year old daughter only used topical steroids for a very short period of time, 2 weeks at most and not on the whole body, only on her patches and very thinly. but she developed it nonetheless. when i stopped putting on steroids, all hell broke loose. she'll flare if i didn't put any steroids in her. after 10 months of not putting steroids on her, she's doing so much better.

a lot of parents in our support group who learned about the dangers of topical steroids learned the hard way. if you or your child has suffered from nonstop flaring and agony of pain from incessant itching, only then wil you understand me.

we've been to the best dermatoligists and allergiologists here in singapore and we've changed all our things at home that could be possible triggers, but she still wasn't healed. only when i stopped using topical steroids did she get better.

doc lelet, if you don't believe that steroids are unsafe, then what do you call the hell my daughter has been through?
