My baby is 3 months old, I use oilatum soap for bath and then I apply  cutivate cream and physiogel on her rashes.

I suggest Dr. Madeleine Sumpaico (pedia allergologist). She has clinics at PCMC and at UDMC. Magaling and mabait.
Yes, you can have bring your 1 month old baby to the allergologist para if skin asthma or atopic dermatitis talaga, maaring maagapan.
If 1 month old pa lang, hindi pa pwede magskin test. Pangit pa kasi ang reactivity ng infant that young so hahanapin ang triggers based on the medical history that you present and the physical examination. From there, the allergologist would give you avoidance measures to do.
Clarify ko lang din: Skin asthma is the same as atopic dermatitis. Skin asthma is the layman's term while atopic dermatitis is the clinical name we use.

@ doc leletmd: I'd like to bring my kids to a doctor to have them check if meron silang asthma since it runs in the family, do I have to bring them to pulmonologist or our pedia doctor would be okay also, they are experiencing atopic dermatitis, when they sweat lumalabas siya agad and madalas matagal mawala or pabalik-balik, should I also bring them to a separate doctor allergo po ba dapat or dermatologist? Thank you po!  :)

Thanks doc leletmd. Sabi ko pacheck sa allergologist, sabi niya pwede daw pero as of now too early pa daw. Since hindi raw kaya ng sabon, papainumin na daw si baby ng Ketolifen (don't know if I spelled it right).

@eche:
You have to use a mild fragrance free moisturizer like cetaphil or physiogel on your baby's skin to prevent it from drying up. Dryness would lead to itching and scratching the itchy area would bring about rashes.
Moisturizing is a very essential part of skin asthma treatment.

@SkyG:
At the risk of sounding biased, I suggest that you bring your children to an allergologist na lang since an allergologist would be able to take care of both the respiratory (possible asthma) and skin allergies and pinpoint the possible triggers.

@-;-maCooLet-;-
It is never too early to bring your child to an allergologist. The earlier the better pa nga kasi once you are able to pinpoint the possible triggers, then it would be easy to control/manage his symptoms.

@tintoink:
What exactly is on your daughter's head? If yes, I suggest that you ask your allergologist for advice regarding how to stop the infection from spreading from one family member to another.
Mild fragrance free cleanser like cetaphil or physiogel would be a good substitute for shampoo at a time when the kid has rashes on the head or face area.

thanks doc. di ko sure kung nahawa, or baka meron din talga siya, kasi my eldest naman is wala...
im going back to the doctor this monday. sana maging ok na.

Mga sis... It's december kaya grabe lumabas nanaman mga asthma even asthma of the skin.  Tama sis Doc, no fragrance talaga ang best.  I grew up having asthma of the skin and yung youngest ko naagapan ko kasi nagkakaron siya.

Tama si doc.. moisturize.  I use shea butter (I use Palmer's).  Pag may allergy (scaly and sometimes super itchy) linalagyan ko so hindi siya magsusugat.  Worse, yung binigay na gamot ni derma ever since I had this... parang immune na ako and it doesn't work. :(

With my baby, starts sa ears sa kanya then meron sa neck.  Suspect ko is the Johnson's Head to Toe wash.  When I changed it to Nivea Gentle Head to Toe Wash... nawala.  Then, when napagamit ulit yung Johnson's... lumalabas ulit.  It was worse nung una kasi parang akala mo mahahati na yung ear lobe niya. :(

Try changing also the milk.  My eldest started Nan HA (now HW) eversince he was born and was never sensitive and walang allergy.  While my 2 girls started with NAN only (mahal kasi ng HW)... It was so hard to reverse since nagka asthma of the skin na at 6 months.

May lahi kami Asthmahin, so I had this on my skin. Soap I never even use: Safeguard or any super harsh soap.  Also, I never rub my skin directly with alcohol kasi it starts to grow mga "butlig" and yun ang start ng asthma of the skin that grows and grows as you scratch it.

Question about Skin Asthma.
This is the case with my 3yo girl. She gets itchy rashes that starts with whitis dried circles that will eventually turn reddish and sugat sugat when scratched.
Naawa na ako sa kanya dahil wala na makain...she eats soup with veggies and rice daily, wala makaing snack in between kungdi fruits like banana,apples, pears, papaya and watermelon--these are the tested fruits for her, very small portions of breads,cakes,icecream,sweets,juices (as in any juice), noodles, misua, sotanghon,pancit,toyo, will make her itch so bad!
As for her skin care, okay lang naman sya sa Johnsons milk liquid soap, then Physiogel Ai lang as her moisturizer, i have tried cetaphil,aveeno,oilatum moisturizer, and all the others pero puro pangangati lang ang resulta.
My major concern here is the food that she eats, nakakaawa na even the multivitamin of heathy option na animal parade allergic din, even chewable probiotics makes her itch too, lil critter gummy bears also,        even marshmallow na basigcally egg white and sugar lang pangangati din! Super stressed ako eveyrtime i see a new rash despite the efforts ive been doing watching everything she eats, naawa ako na pumapangit na ang legs nya sa rashes pag nakamot at nagsugat, OC pa naman ako na maalagaan ang binti nya. Sabi naman ng pedia she is too young to be subjected to allergy tests.
Also pala yun pangangati nya, me times nadadamay na din ang eyes,nagiging very itchy too.
Anghirap hirap ng situation I  cant bring her to restos kase wala talaga makain na hind sya maapektuhan. It's affecting me so bad, parang nakakbaliw at paranoid na on m part.
How does the allergy test being done? Masakit ba sya? Matagal? Im so desperate na.

doc lelet, ang ECZEMA eh hereditary db? yung 3 year old son ko kasi kahit bagong ligo eh parang naging habit na nia ang magkamot parang laging kating-kati ang katawan nia.. natatakot ako na baka yun ang early stage ng eczema, sa side kasi ng husband ko puro sila may eczema (from lolo to my father-in-law to my husband and his 3 siblings), pano ba mape-prevent yun?

axlrocksmyworld:
If you are referring to ezcema caused by skin asthma, then, yes, it is hereditary.
Good skin care is the first step to managing skin asthma and that includes:
a. Short baths; the child can have 2 to 3 baths/day provided that each bath doesn't last more than 20 minutes
b. No scrubbing or rubbing the skin during bath time or at any time; Anything that rubs or scrubs the skin will cause irritation
c. Using mild cleansers
d. Using fragrance free moisturizers 2 to 4x a day
e. Removing irritants and allergic triggers

Hindi nag-work sa anak ko ang Aveeno and Physiogel AI. But I'm happy that we've found the lotion and oil na hiyang sya, yung new baby line ng Human Nature. Yung matagal na nyang rash, nawala slowly in 2 months of using the baby oil. We were going to try Mustela kaya lang ang mahal; nabasa ko sa ingredients it has sunflower oil, so we tried Human Nature baby sunflower oil, way cheaper but very effective for her. The baby lotion is also very good.
